The front door is very dirty and the service is lazy. I do like the pancakes although I would say the pancakes have no nutritional value whatsoever. The omelettes use fake eggs ; the eggs taste bad. My boyfriend and I typically go to the location that was on the beltline and since it just closed we went to this location this morning, we ordered online and when my boyfriend went in to get our food and brought it back to the car I realized that his straw for his drink was missing and the sauce for my Mexican Tres Leches pancakes weren't included, the lady who helped my boyfriend when he went back in was from the back and he asked for it she said "I packed it myself, I know it's in there" so my boyfriend said well no it's not could you get me some and she said "I'll give it to you this time" and was just very rude and disrespectful, we will not be coming back to this location again. read more

I was not impressed when I went there. The service was very bad. The servers and workers looked miserable. My pancakes were super dry and had no flavor. I took about two bites and didn't eat anymore. Where do I start. Staffing needs to address to this location big time. It wasnt even as busy as a sunday that its usually is. Told it will be 25 minutes to be seating. Turn to close to a hour. We get seated then a other hour for food to come out. The person that took the order was the only good about this place. She knew how to handle the kids orders and got our orders right. So we were close to the 3 hour mark due to the computer shutting down when it came to pay. We were getting mad. At this point the kids are done being good. We just want to leave like we should have. But knowing how sundays go when you have the group that we had it probably being a other issue. Man this place was busy that day. Was seated right away, but only a couple seats left open after that. My wife and I both cot the breakfast sampler. A couple eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes, and a couple pancakes. It took awhile to get the food, but that was to be expected as busy as they were. I was also please to see the person making sure the food was coming out correctly, was wiping down the counter constantly. It was also a pretty clean for a busy as they were. Ordered 2 simple breakfasts. After 45 minutes no food. They were not very busy at all. 3 tables came in and all three of them served before we were. After an hour and 10 minutes of still no food, we decided to leave. On our way out, waitress says our food should be out any minute now. I told her to feed the homeless and continued to walk out. Typical IHOP as for food and speed of service, slow but at least I was seated promptly. I got eggs ("over easy"), soggy toast, and weird tasting hashbrowns. The coffee was horrible but the server admitted that it's been sitting awhile because she hadn't been able to catch up yet since she got in. To her credit, she rocked it for being the only server that night. The reason I stopped in was for Wi-Fi but the signal was too weak to download anything (I wanted to download a couple of audio books since I itself. Took my family here for breakfast early this morning for the first time since before the Covid shut down. we will never be back there. Everyones food at my table was completely cold except for the pancakes. There was only 1 cook so I'm guessing she just made a bunch of food and put it aside until it was ordered. The crepes were stiff and the toast was probably toasted the day before. I spent almost $80 dollars there on nothing but crap food. I went to this IHOP thinking it was like the one near my home. Before we were ever greeted we were asked if we were there for the free pancakes, which we weren't aware of for National Pancakes Day. Waitress was like here are your menus if you want anything else. Asked if we wanted coffee and left. Our coffee was brought which was just slightly more than warm and a short stack of pancakes. "Do you want anything else?" We pretty much decided that was all we were going to eat here. I looked around the table for the rack of syrup that I'm so used to having, there wasn't any. I got a plastic to go cup worth of syrup. NO flavor choices. I should have known when I checked Yelp that this was not the place to come for breakfast. Well lesson learned. Given the current COVID-19 climate, I had a pretty good experience! I had the 2-egg breakfast. The eggs were cooked exactly as I asked. I wish I would have gotten more hash browns though. Given the concern for cleanliness, the ketchup, salt, and pepper that we requested was given to us in individualized little containers so we really appreciated that! Our waitress was also very nice. Ally the manager is very disrespectful she's not about customer service. She's racist. Me and my family had dirty cups. She told me she'll solve the problem by giving us plastic cups. Just left this place. I've eaten at a lot of IHOP locations and this is probably the worst experience I've had at one yet. It's Mother's Day, so we expected being busy. We came in here knowing we had to be patient. We were seated and after not seeing a server for a few minutes, the hostess came to grab our drink order. I had ordered a sweet tea but she brought me regular, which - again - was no big deal. They were busy and she had a million things to do, so when our server came by, I let her know that I needed the correct drink order. The server proceeded to tell me I could just add sugar. "It's the same thing we do to make sweet tea." I asked her to clarify if it was tea with sugar or tea made with simple syrup. She insisted it was just tea with sugar, then says, "The simple syrup we use is just sugar and hot water." I said that was what I wanted, not tea with sugar. Her arguing with me should have been an indication of how the rest of the meal would go. First, it took a good 45 minutes to get our food, which normally would not be a complaint, but... (see below) I ordered the brioche french toast combo. My bacon came out cold and barely cooked. When I asked for new bacon, it was crispy, but cold. My french toast was not only cold, but not completely battered. We were trying to get home at a decent time (on a road trip) and I didn't want to wait another half hour for food, so it wasn't worth asking it to be remade. The scrambled eggs were hot and the hashbrowns were good too. My four year old ordered macaroni and cheese and the noodles were overcooked and falling apart and the cheese was not mixed into the noodles at all. There were clumps of dry cheese, while some noodles had nothing at all on them. Again, we didn't have time to wait, but unfortunately she didn't eat it and ended up eating something on the go in the car after we left. My husband said that some of his food had come out cold as well. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone in Grand Rapids. Try one of the other IHOPs in the area if you're craving breakfast food. (I can't say whether they're good or not, I just know that this one sucks.) read more

The fact that there is one waitress on a Friday night is unacceptable. We have a large party and she is trying to wait on us, everyone else, seat people and check people out. She is doing a phenomenal job but I am absolutely beyond aggravated that she's in the position of having to do everything except buss the tables. The owner of both the alpine and Grandville location can be seen helping guest and greeting them regularly-- even on holidays! Mr.Taylor is amazing! Along with his other staff. The ambiance of the place is even more welcoming due to a recent renovation. Super yummy food at great prices. Due to these locations being a franchise they are amazing at accommodations their guest and making crucial changes to make sure their customers are getting the best service possible. Oh IHOP. I love that you are open 24 hrs. And that I can get breakfast at any time. Or not. But you don't judge me or restrict me in my love for breakfast food. I always get breakfast here but decided to try a chicken sandwich last time. It was actually decent. Good chicken, cheese, peppers. Big enough that I made 2 meals out of it. I would get it again for sure. The only down side is the time I wanted to use my free birthday meal & I was alone - the server acted weird about it and had to ask if that was "ok". Let's just say I didn't think it was ok so I left a bit pissed. I just wanted to read my book and have some eggs dude.... To sum it up it isn't the best food I have ever had but it isn't the worse. Then we waited to order. Then we waited a half an hour for our food to come out, and it was mediocre at best. As a child, my parents would take us to IHOP after Sunday mass. I haven't been to an IHOP in about twenty years, so I was looking forward to brunch with my father when he invited me. I had the Garden Omelet (minus mushrooms, YUCK!) & naturally a short stack of buttermilk pancakes. The Omelet was so big it dragged over the plate. Food was tasty, restaurant was clean and our server was quick and attentive even though the place was crowded...always a good sign for a restaurant. June 25 2019 I will start with this being the worst visit to IHOP with regard to service. I can honestly say it was not one event which spurred my disappointment. To begin we were seated and our orders were taken. We then, after awhile, received some coffee and here is where things began to wonder. So, orders were taken and the menus remained on the table (odd). I then went to wash my hands and when I returned I still had not received my silverware.. It eventually came after I had already acquired it. Our menus were never taken from the table and because they remained I chose to put them on another table. Typically while at a restaurant I have received my order within 15 minutes or so. However, an inordinate amount of time went by to were I began to wonder what was taking so long. Our order was taking roughly 20 - 25 minutes with the food in question lingering (odd again). Finally another waiter noticed that we had no food or that we had been waiting and said "Hi, I will be your server, what would you have today?" Ok now this is really strange, we stated we placed an order however we need sugar for the coffee we had received. He got the sugar and he asked if there was anything else and before we could say anything he walked away to serve another table. (WOW!) I tried to express to him, "Yes, we need something." and he abruptly said. "One sec!" then never came back. Actually he avoided our table. (WTF!) At this point we had lost our appetite and were really ready to leave. Frustrated and looking for a manager, our food FINALLY arrived. GUESS WHAT? Our order was wrong and my order looked begrudgingly thrown together... At this point we requested a manager, and when the manager came over by the name of Jadah, my daughter asked if she could pay for our drinks and leave. She responded with "you will have to get your server for that." She walked away from the table and handed me a receipt and gave me change for my 20. Thus doing exactly what she said she could not. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT IHOP (Alpine location), IF I COULD RATE THIS 0 I WOULD, I WILL BE BOYCOTTING!!! read more

Poor service. Waitress forgot our drinks then forgot to bring out the extra items we asked for. The kicker to the poor service is the twist tie that was inside my spinach omelette. I thought I was seeing a spinach stem and pulled it out and discovered what it actually was. I was given a refund and an apology but also told that they don't use that color twist ties so very concerned on how a twist tie did get inside my omelette. read more

Everytime I come here I get more and more disappointed. The service is sub par. Something is always missing from my orders. They go on wait for 30 minutes with open tables, no communication for people on waits, and it always seems like it's someone's first day. I think it's poorly ran and needs whole new management. I never see a manager when I'm there even if I have a complaint. This IHOP is A-Okay. Service is always phenomenal. You get what you expect. Pretty Okay breakfast. The environment at time so quiet you can hear a pin drop, or it's so quiet you can hear the sub-par music they play which is far worse in my opinion. I love the fact that right next to me there are a variety of syrups to put on my pancakes. I always mix and match the flavors. If you arnt in the mood for breakfast there's a wide variety of lunchtime food available at any time. My personal favorite are the Mozzarella sticks. Not the greatest place in the world.
