We made a same-day reservation for 2 at 6:45pm on a Saturday. Maybe because it's so nice out, but it wasn't too busy! We actually asked to sit in the bar area at a high top so we could watch TV. I've always been happy with the service at Ruth Chris. The waiter was really nice and attentive, and gave us the GF bread option when we asked. He brought us 3 rounds of it, even though we said how it was definitely not nearly as good as the last time we were there; he actually comp'd my wine because he felt bad the GF bread was not up to standards that night. The leftovers were better once we warmed it up for longer at home! The 11oz filet (medium rare) may have been the best filet mignon I've ever had. And that's saying a lot. A perfect crust on the outside, perfect median rare on the inside, and buttery rich even though filet does not have as much fat as other cuts. It was still cooking on the sizzling plate when it arrived. My fiancé had the 12oz cowboy ribeye which was a fantastic size, and close to 2 inches thick. I like how the bone was really well cleaned, and not too big either. His was wonderful as well. We got the green beans w/ garlic and the brussels sprouts w/ bacon and honey butter (we got the butter on the side) as side dishes - each side is enough for 2, maybe 3 people. We'd probably do a potato side dish instead of one of the 2 vegetable side dishes. The lobster voodoo appetizer for $24 was absolutely not worth it. Really sad looking little lobster chunks, maybe 7 of them total, and mostly fried pieces anyway. I got the sauce on the side just to dip them into. We were looking for a cozy, upscale spot for a special date night to just relax and enjoy some time together, and Ruth's Chris was exactly what we needed. The staff was genuinely warm and made us feel so welcome, but in a really relaxed, low-pressure way that let us just focus on each other. Our server, Jennifer, was absolutely amazing!!! She took such great care of us and really elevated the whole experience without hovering. The food was amazing. He ordered the Cowboy Ribeye with the au gratin potatoes and completely loved it. I went with the Chilean sea bass and the lobster mac and cheese--it was rich, perfectly cooked, and honestly exactly the kind of decadent comfort food we were craving. We went to Ruth's Chris Happy Hour to be able to sample a burger that is only available during that time in the bar. I've long been searching for a restaurant burger that is better than mine and figured with the quality of meat and skill of the kitchen, I might just meet my goal here. A friend and I got there just as Happy Hour was beginning and instead of sitting at the bar or at a high top, grabbed the only booth in the bar. The Happy Hour menu also has drink specials so we tried Gambler's Old Fashioned drinks before ordering our burgers. They were excellent and I might of had one or two more if I wasn't driving! We both ordered our burgers medium rare. I asked if it was possible to do a "Pittsburgh medium rare" (charred outside, properly cooked inside) and our server said "of course". I was only half serious figuring we would end up with a couple of well done burgers but at least we did, it would be my fault! Most restaurants can't get rare or medium rare right on a burger much less cooking it Pittsburgh style but figured this was well within Ruth's Chris wheelhouse. Our burgers arrived (his with cheese, mine without) and they looked magnificent. The outside charred crust was light enough and when I cut mine in half, I saw an absolutely perfectly cooked burger. There chef nailed the "Pittsburgh" request. My first bite told me this is more than a hunk of good meat. Seasonings like coarse kosher salt and cracked black pepper came to mind during my first bite. My friend who loves burgers but is perhaps a bit less passionate then me couldn't believe how good his tasted. After my first bite, I went into preservation mode taking as small bites as possible so this meal of ecstasy would last as long as possible. I should also mention that very good fries were also served with the burger. Service is what you would expect from Ruth's Chris even in the bar...excellent. And one of the best Dirty Martinis I've had. But what won me over was the service! Our server was amazing! Samiera, she was attentive and friendly. Very knowledgeable. First of all I love the food at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. However I have been very disappointed in their planning and setup, not much different than some of the other disappointing reviews here. We had a reservation for our anniversary. When we arrived we were seating in the side room where there were 4 small tables set on our right and a table for about 16 on my left. For the first 30 minutes everything was great. There ended up being 3 other couples and we were all enjoying ourselves. Then came the party of 16 (approx). Obviously a group of co-workers and the place became Chuck-E-Cheese. Enough noise that my wife and I could hardly hear each other. Additionally the large group totally consumed the wait staff for the rest of our staff, so we just sat there annoyed and ignored. Ruth's Chris should know better than to do this. I have always wanted to eat at a Ruth's Chris restaurant but never got the opportunity. Last year when I was in the Grand Rapids area we tried doing a walk in! Not happening! From what I understand they get booked up weeks in advance. So this year we booked the reservation about a month in advance. Starting with the hostess - sweet , friendly and prompt professional service. Next on to our amazing waitress Autumn! Seriously had to be one of the best waiter or waitress I've ever had. She was attentive to our needs without interrupting or smothering us. She asked if we were celebrating any special occasion, which we were not, other than being in town to watch Bullriding at the Van Andel Arena. Autumn went through the menu for us and let us know what her favorites were. The meal starts with their warm mini loaf of bread with awesome soft butter. It was so good that she had to bring us a second loaf while we were there, and she sent another loaf home in my leftover bag. I ordered the Sea Bass on spinach and my friend ordered the stuffed chicken. We also got a side of the Crimini Mushrooms and she explained that it comes in a veal sauce and since I don't eat red meat she said we could substitute olive oil for it. My friend ordered the stuffed chicken that had garlic, stuffing and Parmesan. Not sure exactly what it all was - but it was over the top delicious. We were too stuffed for dessert, but she brought us a free dessert that looked like it's given to people who are celebrating a special occasion. It was a small chocolate mousse and a small bowl of fruits in a cream sauce. Yummy for both!!! All in all - expensive but amazing experience and totally worth it. We are long time frequent customers of Ruth's Chris however, our visit last night was very disappointing which is why I have to leave this comment. Our parents booked a reservation TWO months in advance for their 60th wedding anniversary for a table of 6. Our mom was assured that she could get a table in the front by the windows when she made the reservation and even called the day before confirming the reservation and the table she requested. It was very disappointing and honestly, very upsetting when we arrived and only to be ushered in the back room by the kitchen. We asked twice to be moved and were told they could not accommodate us. As a result sitting in the back room by ourselves, we had slow service where our drinks arrived AFTER our appetizers even though we put in our drink order before the appetizers. We also had to ask another server to help us as well... While the food was top notch, the dining service really dampened our experience. read more

We came here for our first anniversary and wow it didn't disappoint! You do have to pay a 40$ deposit to make a reservation but once we checked in, they refunded us the 40$ automatically. The prices are listed on the menu (and it's expensive , as you'd expect). The atmosphere is cozy and the wait staff was great. Our food was INCREDIBLE. We had heard amazing things but the food really was amazing. I also got an Apple cider cinnamon sangria (it was like 18$) but it was quite delicious. The steaks don't come with sides (you need to order and buy additional items) but you do get warm bread and butter. We enjoyed the additional 20$ lobster tail side. Yum yum yum. Our waiter recommended us coming back each year for our anniversary and we just might! They also had a nice little dish to celebrate our anniversary (that was demolished). Ruth's Chris is one of those chains that are super consistent. Nice hot bread and good butter. We we're too hungry coming off eating on the plane, so we decided to share a few items. We started off with Ruth's Chop Salad, which was delightful. Julienne iceberg lettuce, baby spinach and radicchio were the main veg. It also had some red onions, mushrooms, and green olives. I loved the bacon, eggs, croutons, and bleu cheese dressing. Probably the best part is the topping of crispy onions. It's rare to see escargot on a menu, so we ordered the app. They were not the biggest I've had, but they were covered in garlic butter and delicious. I recommend dipping some bread in there. So good! Our main was the Porterhouse. What can I say? NY Strip and Filet Mignon nice and juicy on T-shaped bone! We had it cut and it was on a classic sizzling hot plate. Don't touch the plate to check. Ruth Chris is a place we've had on our list for awhile now but being a chain, we didn't know how it would stack up to the local competition. I would say that the food was good - it wasn't out of this world but it was good. For appetizers, we ordered crab cakes and shrimp cocktail. The cocktail sauce had a nice zip to it. My husband says the crab cakes are the best he's ever had. I agree that they were delicious. They were served on a 500 degree plate and they were full of crab - not filler. Next came entrees - The petite steak did melt in my mouth so that was a plus. They only use salt and pepper for seasoning and serve it on a 500 degree plate as well. I got a lobster tail for an additional $20 and had them remove it from the shell for me. Not sure it was worth $20 but it was good and much more seasoned than the steak. We opted for Brussels and potatoes au gratin for sides (family style) and weren't super impressed with those. My husband doesn't drink so he ordered a mock-tail, Brian, our server brought him something they was very tasty but when he asked if he wanted a refill, he came back with what tasted like a fountain pink lemonade. When he said something about wanting the same thing, he mentioned all the bartenders make different things or something odd..it took another 15 or so minutes before he came back and asked if he wanted another of the first. That was the only bummer of the entire experience - our server was friendly and kind. For dessert, we were too full but they brought us out this cute happy anniversary plate with fresh berries and cream along with a chocolate cup filled with mousse. Ruth's Chris has been one of our long-time favorite places to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We love the ambiance feel of some dark highlighted by the warmth of lighting piercing through the wine bottles and other places. Service was high level and professional at every phase and the servant team jelled and took good care of us. We were disappointed in the cowboy steak, which we shared. I got the escargot as my appetizer. The escargot here are a lot meatier and bigger than you see at other restaurants; they actually take up the entire divot that they sit in. The butter garlic sauce that they are cooked in is to die for. For my meal my husband and I ordered the Porterhouse for two. We asked that the steak be cooked medium rare, and it came out exactly as that. Steak was tender, thick cut, and juicy. My mouth is watering at this exact moment as I am recalling the flavor of the steak. Yummy. For sides, we ordered the Creamed Spinach and the Mushrooms stuffed with Lump Crab. We were not a fan of the creamed spinach; it didn't taste like much, and it was a lot mushier than we expected it to be. This dish is not something that we prefer. The stuffed mushrooms were delectable! The mushroom caps are decently sized, and the lump crab portions are huge. We did tell the server that we didn't like the creamed spinach, and I wish that he would have offered us a refund since we only took a tiny bite, but it is what it is. The food was good but the service was INCREDIBLE and easily the best part of the night. We brought our daughters (5 and 3) for a special dinner before Disney on ice and mentioned that in the reservation request that they would be in their finest princess dresses. From the SECOND we walked in the hosts greeted them as princesses, the waiter introduced himself as a prince (they are 1000% convinced we ate with a real life prince) and everyone went above and beyond with the royal dining experience. It was burned and tough on the outside and raw on the inside with no taste. Me wife ordered the ribeye, well done, it was a little bit better but still tough.
