This IHOP is A-Okay. Service is always phenomenal. You get what you expect. Pretty Okay breakfast. The environment at time so quiet you can hear a pin drop, or it's so quiet you can hear the sub-par music they play which is far worse in my opinion. I love the fact that right next to me there are a variety of syrups to put on my pancakes. I always mix and match the flavors. If you arnt in the mood for breakfast there's a wide variety of lunchtime food available at any time. My personal favorite are the Mozzarella sticks. Not the greatest place in the world. The only thing they have going for them is being open 24/7. It's consistently at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledges you're waiting to be seated, there are always several tables that need to be cleaned (including, more often than not, the table at which you are seated), and the service is inattentive at best. read more

Ordered food online at 5 am... said it'd be ready by 5:18... long story short, I arrive to pick up my food and there's not a soul to be seen. The whole restaurant is locked, not a note or sign on the door as to why, which is weird for a "open 24 hour" place. The food is good. Service is so so....but what turned us off was the fact that we ordered pancakes and with a stack of 3 pancakes, you get one tiny pad of butter on top of the top pancake. One little pad of frozen butter is not enough for 3 pancakes. If you ask for more, it will cost you .50 and it's only another tiny pad. Not the servers fault and not the managers fault but I think their main office needs to rethink this one a bit. read more

the service during our encounter was beyond under satisfaction. After waiting for over a half hour just to get served our drinks and finally oder, our server bullied one of our clients by implying that his mental capacity under average well he attempted to order his eggs. To my knowledge I do not believe that she knew that he actually suffered from a serious illness of down syndrome. After a couple minutes of rude and unprofessional remarks involving his illness we finally had to ask for another server. I don't even want to begin complaining about the food, all i will say is that I don't understand how this is even a two star location. I would refuse to endure this type of service even if I was black out drunk. I had been served better food well in jail. Please read and do you and whom ever you wish to bring with you a favor and don't even attempt to eat here. We were highly offended while our stay and it was only pleasant because of our conversations and the prepackaged sugar. Horrible service. Not busy at all yet we waIted 40 minutes for our food to only get part of our order. The waitress said she would bring the rest out but she never came back to our table, she only had 2 tables. We finished eating and continued to sit there for 10 minutes when she finally brought the bill. In the meantime we overheard another waitress tell her table the cooks were fast tonight so I can't figure out why our food took so long yet our plates were burning hot so that tells me the plates sat under the lights too long. Do NOT go to this location on Alpine. You will get sat, place your order, and will wait more than 30 minutes for your food...for the manager's solution to be "I'll check on your food for you". No offer of a discount or comp. She made excuses for why the wait was long (which meant nothing due to others being sat after us and receiving their food before us...mind you...only a party of 2!!) We never got our food (& waitress never acknowledged our unreasonably LONG wait either!) Definitely not a good way to keep customers. And IHOP is NOT worth a 30 min wait for food. And definitely not worth a manager not caring about making it right for the customer. Manager did Not care that we walked out. Normally when you think of a highly successful food chain such as IHOP , you would suggest that they are amazing, but the last 4 or 5 times we have been here to the one in Comstock Park . It had taken 40 minutes to get our food on a Saturday early morning and this most recent time we waited 34 minutes for our food and didn't receive it. After talking to the manager Jadea , she told us she was going to check for our food, nothing more and we asked politely "well if we wait for our food, will you discount or comp our food and she said I will not be doing either" therefore we left. Worst experience ever. Took 30 minutes to get our order in and another 30 minutes to get food. Things may be more organized if every waitress in the restaurant was trying to run one table. We finally recieved our food but had to wait 10 more min for forks. My mushroom burger was a dried out party with a slop of toppings with a side of cold fries. I took my family to IHOP for a late dinner on Friday night about 8:30. While ordering we asked the waitress if drinks were included with the kids meals. She said that she would check on it, but as we looked at the adult menu we noticed that it had a kids section in which it said that the a free kids drink was included with every kids meal. It even specified Milk, Chocolate Milk, Hot Chocolate, Juice. Imagine our surprise when the manager came over a few minutes after the drinks were served and told us that the kid size hot chocolate would be 2.29 or adult size would be 3.99. When I told her that this was not what the menu said, she said that she would have to call her general manager. When she returned, she asked us to leave! Let me assure you that we had not raised our voice or used any foul language. I did insist that there is no way we were paying for what their menu said was free. The manager walked away and refused to speak with us, refused to bring us food, and refused to give us the name of her manage. Just wanted a quick breakfast before doing some last minute shopping with the family. Even though I know better..... today was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. From wait time at the door, longer wait for service, wait for drinks.... food was luke warm, order wasn't correct, drinks sat empty, server NEVER RETURNED. Not one time. I saw and witnessed same terrible service table after table. I watched the manager be so not polite to guests, rolled silver ware while tables sat dirty, door needed to be sat and clearly her servers were struggling. I'm an assistant manager of a restaurant so I know the drill. I was to say the least very appalled. After waiting 25 mins for my bill (that never came) and dirty plates stacked in front of me and sitting with my coat on I got up went to counter. I go there sometimes with my friend that lives in Comstock Park. The last time I was there I had the New York Cheesecake. I loved that so much, I might get it again when I go there next. Had the worst customer service in my life here. was sat down after about a 15 minute wait for a table ,which is average at an ihop so it was expected. Me and my wife looked at the menu and we're triing to decide what sounded good which is just about everything there. We waited sat there for 30 minutes never meeting our waiter or waitress, and noticed everyone that was sat after us was already eatting. Finally my wife got someone's attention and let them know we hadn't been acknowledged by anyone other than the person who sat us yet. She apologized and brought us our drinks, mine had food floating in it. We waited an additional 15 minutes and still never had a waitress or waiter talk to us. Got some carry out today, ordering over the phone was a nightmare. The employee was nice about it but he seemed frazzled, like he didn't know what he was doing. We ordered two items and when we went to pick it up, they tried handing us an order with four items. When we corrected the employee it was like figuring out a frickin' treasure map to get two orders together, which we ordered 25 minutes previously. The food was as good as you'd expect it to be from an IHOP, but that isn't why I'm posting the review. Our waiter was nice enough, until I got ripped off when I tried to pay. Our bill was $19.95 and I had cash, but needed it to be broken so I could leave a tip. I handed our waiter $40 at the register. He then handed me my $20.00 and called it good. I wasn't going to be mad about not getting $0.05 back, but I still needed change to tip. I asked if he could break my other $20 (which he could), but he only gave me back $10.00. When I asked him about the other $10.00, he had said something about needing to pay which confused me and I never gotten that $10.00. I didn't realize I was scammed until after I had left. It sucks that one person ruined this experience, but I'm definitely not going back to that location. read more

My husband and I visited your 3796 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, MI 49321 location on the on January 30th. When we entered the establishment we were not greeted right away. A young black woman finally came up to us, very polite, and asked us how many. As she was taking care of us, and another waitress came up and really lite into her about we were her customers. Everything went sore from that point on. Our waitress gave us our menus, brought our coffee and water and never saw her again for a long time. People who came in after us were being waited on by their waiters/waitresses and we sat there with our coffee. Our waitress was very cocky when she did finally wait on us. We were very upset by that time and asked for our bill for our coffees. She came up again and cockily asked us if we were sure we didn't want to order. We just said no, we don't want to order. When my husband paid the bill, she wouldn't give him the receipt just pushed to bill back at him. I don't believe that we will visit this Ihop again because of the service. There should be an option for no stars or a red star to represent below standard for this location. I didn't even get to eat because from the moment I walked in I waited almost 5min before someone checked front to see if anyone came in. Then, once I was seated it took 10min before the same girl that seated me to come by & tell me to wait a minute & she ran to front then came back to tell me she was checking schedule. She was prepared to just take my drink order but I had plenty of time to know what I wanted & told her this. Then she comes back to tell me they're out of 1 of the 2 items i wanted. I said ok but after 2min more contemplating the future of this experience I decided to walk back and wait for someone to come out of kitchen and finally told another waitress to cancel my order & I was leaving. OH DID I MENTION THERE WAS ONLY 1 COUPLE IN THE WHOLE RESTAURANT that was seated across from me eating already. I can give into a wait when it's busy but seriously! I have never wrote a review before but this incident shocking to say the least. I was looking for an over night part time job just something to help me pay my college tuition. The owner gave me a call, I was excited and told him all I would be happy to be a part time server for overnights. He proceeded to yell at me, then asked me to quite my day job because "Why would he want me?" I simply just expressed interest in over night so I could still do my full time career. He aggressively started stating that they wouldn't want me, and "why would I even apply for a job unless I couldn't just fully dedicate myself to him." After being berated for for several minutes I said "This isn't going to work, thank you for your time." His response was "That's what I thought" The whole experience left feeling completely grossed out. If he was willing to argue and yell at an interviewer can you imagine how he treats his staff? If any of his employees read this know that I sympathize for you. I recommend checking indeed and getting out of there as fast as you can. read more
