Dining room

Had a gift card so went here to use it. There was a sign on the door stating they were short staffed. One person was hostess and server and there was one cook. Only 3 tables of customers (including mine) so server was able to handle it. Food was good, but portion sizes were smaller than what I've experienced at other locations. That may be a post-pandemic thing and they all have reduced portions. It was very cold in there. All the customers were mentioning it. We went and got jackets from the car.

Clean Friendly but overworked and small staff (not that they necessarily need more workers) Tasty food Inexpensive

My daughter and I came in this evening after many years of not eating at an IHOP. We were pleasantly surprised how amazing our ENTIRE experience was!!! Our server was the sweetest. The food was wonderful. They have brand new menus with so many choices. The food was delivered quickly and it was perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Scored good coffee today!

We arrived ready for our eggs, and pancakes. They young man who seated us was pleasant and friendly. Our server, Korin was sweet and got our orders correct. Trouble was I found a hair in my hash browns. I was throughly disappointed. Korin was busy with other customers so, I informed another server. The other server quickly removed the plate. I informed Korin when she came around to check on us. I appreciate that Korin apologized , which the other server did not. We were relived when Korin told us the manager removed the price of the hash browns from our bill. It would have been a much worse experience if not for Korin and the young man who seated us.

IHOP is ok. I ordered the gingersnap and strawberry/ banana pancakes. The hot chocolate was pretty good the gooseberries on top were tart. The pancakes were very dry. Even with syrup. I have ordered them before at another IHOP and they were delicious. But I just couldn't finish them. I took them to go and gave them to my friend who I was with. I wouldn't go back to that IHOP.

Illustrating the thin pancakes...3 of them what a joke.

The food tasted really good but the portions were sad. Got three pancakes and thought it was one. Got the crepes and they were half the size and pretty empty inside. My husband got an omelette and about two inches on each end completely empty. Very disappointed.

We've found another great breakfast spot and it was worth the drive to Mount Dora. I heard about…read morethis place on the radio and decided to give it a try. They have all the breakfast items you can imagine and a whole bunch of lunch and dinner options as well. Their menu continues to expand. We, of course, went for breakfast and had our choice of eggs and bacon and grits and pancakes ... but what stood out for me was the biscuits and gravy and the SOS. If you don't know what SOS stands for, look it up... it's a great breakfast item. The SOS is not the same as the biscuits and sausage gravy because that is sausage gravy, the SOS has chipped beef in gravy and usually will come on toast, but I prefer it with the biscuits. I asked for my eggs over easy and they were just right. The side of grits comes in a small bowl which is a good portion for one person and the pancakes were humongous - a very good size for two pancakes and golden brown... I ended up sharing with my wife. We were very happy with the service that they gave us and one of the managers came around to see if everything was good or if we needed anything and we really appreciated that. This is a very down to earth place where it feels like home. It's a great place to bring the family, and we did see a lot of people with their kids, but, we also saw couples like myself and my wife sharing some good coffee or sweet tea and loving life. We are definitely coming back because I wanna try the teriyaki chicken plates and I'm very interested in the shrimp and scallops.

Like I said...perspective. Those in the know in Mt. Dora have been to Dora Cafe, a charming old-school cafe serving as much friendly service as yummy good. Mad respect for the sweet staff onsite, quick to smile and welcome you in while you wait just a few minutes to be served tasty food. Simple, good food - that's what's up here. Also, a very interesting variety of plates - simple breakfast combos, teriyaki, Cuban sandwiches, Shepard's Pie, gyros, and chicken livers! What?! Swear to God! Open from 6a-2p every day. Definitely get in on the breakfast combo - yummy hash browns and they even have sausage links AND patties! C'mon...now you're just showing off. I will absolutely be back...and I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

Dreaming of a lovely lunch on the Rive Gauche, but stuck in central Florida? Come fill your soul…read morewith some Parisian pleasure. The Bistro dining room is charming and stylish. Generous seating and calm, peaceful music make for a very intimate setting to enjoy with dinning companions. We started off with the Charcuterie platter. Beautifully prepared and served/explained by Chef John. This included an oven fresh baguette, served in its own delightful paper bag. For entrées we shared the Beef Bourguigon, and Ratatouille. Both were delicious. I have so much respect for Chef John. Operating a small high end restaurant in 2026, must be the toughest job around. From the competition around him, the high cost of quality specialty foods, rent, staff and providing experiences. You can feel the love in every bite. Go treat yourself to a wonderful dinning experience. A Votre Sante' Chef John.

That level of care is increasingly rare, and it deserves real credit. Where the experience faltered, unfortunately, was the food. The prefix menu included many dishes, but most missed the mark. They felt lackluster, missing the depth, seasoning, or execution that would match the charm of the service. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing stood out either. It's the kind of meal that leaves you wishing the kitchen's ambition matched the front‑of‑house enthusiasm. It may have been an off night, but there was only one other couple in the place on a Friday dinner service, so that may have been a sign up front.

She ordered the smoked salmon and bagel, and I had the fiesta rancheros. Both dishes were out of this world delicious. The home fries deserve a special shout-out: hands down the best I've ever had. Our waitress, Jessica, was phenomenal--super attentive, friendly, and efficient. She was wonderful with us and I noticed her engaging warmly with the other tables too. The whole atmosphere felt friendly and genuinely jovial. We finished with the peach cobbler served warm in a skillet with vanilla ice cream, and it was exceptional. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and more of a crumbled consistency rather than a traditional crust--which made it even better. Absolutely perfect brunch experience. We'll definitely be back!
