Sunday, after our church service at Unity Christian in leesburg, 10 of us decided to go to Cracker Barrel for lunch and fellowship and we were so glad we did. Haley was our server and she was wonderful! She was so kind and attentive and made our outing very enjoyable. The entire staff worked so well together to get all of our food and drinks out. Today mom and I decided to check out the local Cracker Barrel. It was pretty crowded, but our wait to be seated was less than twenty minutes. Our server, Shauna got to us quickly and brought us our drinks right away while we waited for our food. We waited about twenty-five minutes, which wasn't ideal, but was to be expected during lunch hour rush. I ordered the grilled chicken tenders with corn and hashbrown casserole. My tenders were not very good and the hashbrowns were cold. Mom ordered a new dish they had, I'm not really sure what it is called but it had scrambled eggs, steak, onion straws and lots of other yumminess. It was really good. Let me start off by saying that yes, I realize this is a chain restaurant and my expectations at chains are never very high...that being said, I've eaten at this particular location 3 times so far, and every single time I was surprised at the quality of the food! I've ordered fried chicken, my daughter fried chicken strips and I have to say that not only was the flavor surprisingly on point, but the meat was cooked perfectly- tender and juicy! On my most recent visit I ordered the Mushroom sauce covered chicken over rice pilaf special, and once again was was surprised at how good it was, and how well it was cooked. The rice was cooked perfectly- not chewy or mushy, the chicken excellent, and the sauce flavorful. Again, I know it's a chain but whoever this particular CrackerBarrel has cooking in their kitchen, knows his stuff. Good job! read more

I am so disappointed at the "new" Cracker Barrel. They took many of the favorites off of the menu and added a lot of items that aren't that desirable to me. The prices are higher and the portions seem smaller. We used to go there frequently but that won't happen any more until they bring the old menu back. I've actually never been to a Cracker Barrel before, so figured it was about time whilst visiting my parents. A very large menu of Southern-heavy dishes that come in very large portions for reasonable price. Some items were pretty good, but others were a bit mediocre. Chicken n' Dumplins: Shockingly, I've never had chicken n' dumplins before (even though I've had tons of chicken dumplings over the years). I was very pleased with this dish. Tender poached chicken, like what you'd find inside a good pot pie. A mildly flavored milky white sauce with a bunch of dough clumps floating between the chicken. Paired well with richer items in my meal. Meatloaf: Very thick and meaty, which means probably low on filler. Also, lots of nice flavoring. I could see the onion and pepper bits. Country Ham: Wasn't a fan. Thin pieces of ham that was overcooked on the grill. The ham was very fatty and chewy, which makes me think it wasn't very tender before it was grilled up. I'm used to tender spiral ham you get at Easter, so this tough ham really wasn't my jam. Fried Okra: Small slices of okra breaded heavily in a grainy batter and deep fried. Kinda tasty, but also a little slimy. Whenever I have Indian bhindi (i.e. fried okra) they seem to find a way to make the inside less slimy; wish that was the case here. Macaroni n' Cheese: Really liked the generous cheese sauce. Al dente macaroni too. Felt kinda like home cooking. Though none of the cheese was particularly fancy. Hashbrown Casserole: A bit weird to have hashbrowns with a lunch/dinner kind of meal, but I ordered this side since it seemed popular. Was a little dry and the potato shreds were a bit too small for my tastes. But the cheese throughout, especially the crispy bits were nice. Buttermilk Biscuit: I really liked this biscuit! Fluffy and buttery, especially when you add your own butter. Better than Popeye's biscuits, which I always thought were good too. Cornbread: Grainy and not too sweet. A little soft inside and firm outside. Not as a good as the biscuit, but still tasty. Fruit Stand Tea: Super sweet. Some subtle fruit flavorings. Very refreshing on a hot day. read more

Sunday, near lunchtime with full parking lot. Hostess stand said 15 minutes, we were called in about 11 mins. Hostess and young lady who seated us were warm and cordial, always a great start. Our server Melissa was there within a minute, equally warm and cordial had our drink orders back to us and took our food order. As crazy busy as the restaurant and store was our food arrived in 10 minutes. The food was perfect down to every detail, Melissa checked on us at least three more times while we were there, couldn't ask for a better experience. Very nice location. There was no wait on Sunday and the restaurant was busy, which was rather surprising to me but in a good way. Their website allows to add your name on the wait list, which doesn't always work, so that was a good surprise as well. Our waitress, Amanda, was friendly, fast and efficient. She did a great job during a busy Sunday brunch time. The food was delicious. We ordered: The Cracker Barrel sampler, which comes with chicken dumplings - well cooked and seasoned, the sugar cured ham - my husband loved it, and the meatloaf - which was really tasty. We ordered it with 3 sides: loaded baked potato, loaded sweet potato and house salad, plus an extra house salad for me and we shared the whole meal. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. The restaurant is one of the few chains that we love to frequent for their consistency of great service, good food and reasonable prices. Pranking cashier. Asked me three times if I had ordered Chicken n Dumpling and meat loaf. Even looked in food bag as if she had seen Chicken n Dumplings and meat loaf in bag. After third time of repeatedly being asked the same thing, I asked her why she kept asking me the same question. Breakfast the other day was really stellar! I had blueberry pancakes that were as big and as fresh and as tasty as can be. I was telling my dining companion how the pancakes far exceeded many of the NY tri-state area places that tout fantastic breakfasts. The soft butter served with the pancakes is delish too. Writing about it now makes me want to go eat them for dinner - they were that good! I liked the hash brown casserole but it wasn't stellar - a little on the dry side. Same with the grits there - kinda dry. After eating at Haven in Charleston, I don't think I'll ever look at grits the same way. The biscuits are delightful all warm and fresh straight out of the oven. Tip for you is to request the pancake butter for the biscuits vs. the little packets of butter they normally give you. Yes, I am bummed they do not offer 100% real pure maple syrup, even for an extra charge, but they did have a variation of it which wasn't too bad. Service is really excellent with the waitress offering us waters to go. When does that ever happen?! I've never gone to Cracker Barrel for anything other than breakfast so can't speak to the rest of the offerings. read more

I asked the manager why they would stop wearing masks now and he said "corporate doesn't want us to" and admitted his general manager just recent died from Covid. Feeling euphoric after having received our second COVID shot, my husband and I went to Cracker Barrel (one of my favorites places) for a late breakfast on April 8, 2021. My day got better when I saw the special was turkey and dressing ... yum. My happy mood got the best of me; when ordering I decided to get an orange mimosa. Then my day was shot down when the server asked me for ID. I'm 64 years old! The server said they have to ask for ID or they could loose their liquor license. I didn't get to be 64 without know that already. If serving a mimosa to a 64 year old woman endangers Cracker Barrel's liquor license then I'm more than willing to NEVER GO TO A CRACKER BARREL AGAIN! So that problem is solved. If I could solve the lack of common sense the world would be very different place. They may need to work on that problem themselves. read more
