I decided to give IHOP another try on Monday night, August 24, 2026. We arrived at approximately 10:40 PM and left around 11:30 PM. It also happened to be my birthday. I'm very glad I gave this location another chance because the experience was completely different from my previous visit. Our server, Daniel from Bolivia, was absolutely exceptional. He was one of the nicest and friendliest servers you could ask for. He was personable, talkative, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we sat down. Daniel knew the menu extremely well, offered helpful suggestions, and even helped us navigate the IHOP app and its features. He took our order quickly, checked on us throughout the meal, and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was busy, especially for that time of night, but you would never have known it from the level of attention Daniel gave us. We were seated quickly, our order was taken promptly, and the food came out fast and exactly as expected. Since it was my birthday, having such a pleasant and attentive server made the experience even better. Daniel deserves special recognition for the service he provided. Employees like him can completely change a customer's impression of a restaurant. I also want to give credit to this IHOP location for making such a strong comeback. Matthew our server was very nice and helpful. We ordered the Breakfast Faves meal with coffee. I asked for my eggs to be basted and it couldn't be done. Meanwhile, I've had them basted in the past. It's an IHOP! What else is there to expect? At least the place was neat and clean. The restrooms were also clean (always a good thing). The staff friendly and was able to handle our group of over 20 people. The food was ok. My steak wasn't the most tender, but it was still flavorful. I was still able to finish it, as well as the pancakes that came with it. It was a better dining experience than eating at Mark Twain in Union. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. First off, we went there at 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon, September 28th. There were only two other customers in the place. Our waitress took her time coming over to our table to take our order. My husband ordered the classic hamburger platter and I ordered the sirloin steak tips. Our waitress then informed us that they were out of hamburgers and sirloin steaks but had plenty of chicken. That info should have been told to us when we FIRST sat down. NOT after we spent time looking at the menu. So we looked at the menu, again, and made our second choice. My husband had to go get the waitress to come back over to take our order.(she was chatting with another employee in the kitchen area). Food took forever to come and it was not that great. The pancakes are still hands down the best pancakes around, that is for sure. And the service is great, waiter and waitresses are good, no need to wait long for them to check on you. We have a little issue with the cleanliness though of the place. The entrance really needs to be spruced up, most especially the place where you wait to be seated. The place needs a good sweeping and vacuuming. Floors and tables are kind of sticky and chairs can be given a good cleaning. I hope the management will take more pride in the overall cleanliness too. read more

I'm surprised by some of these bad reviews. I went here the other day and I thought it was actually one of the best IHOPs I've ever been to. The food was good, I got the breakfast sampler. Food came quick, waitress was attentive. I left full. What more can you ask from an IHOP? It did seem a little run down on the inside, not gonna lie, could use a renovation but the staff was outstanding. I met the manager Sarah and she was so sweet and stopped to chat with us despite being super busy and completely overworked. I think people get lost in the surface appearance of a place and overlook the tireless efforts of the staff that made this place my new go-to lunch stop any time I'm in the area. 5 stars, would definitely recommend. read more

My Mom, ten month old son and I had a late breakfast here today. First time eating inside a restaurant since everything closed down in March. First thing I noticed is how well they adhere to the guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing. There were a lot of tables that were not available to sit at with markers to keep everyone distant. The restaurant seemed cleaned and all the employees were wearing masks. The food was great. My Mom and I had an omelette which both were cooking perfectly. Also the staff was very nice to my young son keeping their distance but also interacting with him and making him smile. What the hell happened? Came here on a whim and the place was so run down, stuff falling off the walls etc. I don't really care about aesthetics that much but it took me a good 10 mins to be seated, probably another 10 to put our order in, 15 to get drinks, another 15 to get food. It looked like they only had 2 servers working the entire restaurant. I get stuff happens, but it shouldn't take that long to receive breakfast. Not the best location. Mg husband and I were there tonight on "Pancake Day" at about 6:30pm. There was no wait and the restaurant wasn't nearly as filled as it should have been for "Pancake Day." Staff was all standing around the kitchen entrances and basically hanging on the tables that were there. It was unprofessional and distracting to say the least. I heard a server use vulgar language and make some discriminatory remarks about people. In addition to that, the red haired manager kept shouting at each server more concerned with who owns a dollar here and a dollar there (I think they were talking about tips) than the overall operation. There needs to be somewhere they can conduct business that doesn't interfere with the diners. I have been to other IHOP locations and the food is good and cheap, but I've never been so distracted by the horrible service or disorganization of the floor management before. read more

Writing to let you know what happened on my last and final visit to your IHOP of Keyport, NJ on June 8, 2022 at approximately 4pm. First off, I actually travel quite distance to come to this IHOP on many occasions because I just loved how they prepared the food exactly as the pictures on the menu. Welp! Today will be my last time coming to this IHOP or any from now on. I ordered a breakfast bowl where I asked to substitute the hash-browns for red potatoes. When it came out, the bowl look and tasted delicious until I saw the hash-browns at the bottom of the bowl. First aggravation. So my son said he would take the hash-browns from the breakfast bowl, as he was taking them a long piece of black hair was embedded in the hash-browns.....Yuck! Second aggravation Told the waiter, of course he apologized said he would tell the manager, my other son took the hair out and threw it on the floor, because I was totally SKEEEEVED out. Now, as my son was about to eat his scrambled eggs, guess what he saw another piece of damn hair. Third aggravation. Because of my head wrap and the kinky style that my sons both wear, which one son had on a baseball hat and the other a hoodie, both hairs were long black and string like. I'm some what upset because the manager or anyone in charge NEVER came over to our table to say anything to us. The servers do not wear hair nets and as far as the cooks I'm not sure. This just goes to show, even a nationwide food establishment doesn't give 2shits about what a paying customer had to endure while visiting their restaurant. I will be contacting the corporate office and will NEVER recommend this place ever again! This is the complaint that I sent to corporate, when I contacted them they told me the actual restaurant was suppose to contact me...of course they didn't. Wasn't expecting much but my Mom wanted to come here. My mom loved her pancakes, eggs and sausage. They had sugar free syrup and she was delighted. I had a really great salad with grilled chicken. Coffee was really great and they served in a carafe so you could pour away. Our server was excellent. Would definitely go back. read more

My wife and I had a late breakfast today. I had the Big Steak Omelette with toast and juice. It's big as advertised and well made. I've read that their omelettes have pancake batter in the eggs, which makes them fluffy but a problem for those avoiding gluten. The menu in general isn't friendly to those avoiding gluten. My wife fashioned a breakfast with eggs, bacon, and broccoli with mushrooms and onions. They had no bread/toast she could have. Corn bread muffins would be a useful addition to the menu. The greeter and waitress were pleasant but very busy. The restaurant was clean and the temperature was comfortable. The music had a definite rock edge; it might not be welcoming to all IHOP customers. read more

This is a two part review. The food is fine and what I expected from a staple like IHOP. Breakfast & pancakes. Plus sandwiches, soups etc. is it the greatest food I've ever eaten...no. But it's convenient late at night. So for it being open late it gets my vote. The second part of my review is for the very attentive waitresses that served us. Quick, sit-down service. There is usually never have a wait, so we go to IHOP when we want breakfast and do not want to wait at Turning Point for an hour. Pancakes are always delicious. IHOP also has variety of plate options (e.g. healthy plates). The cons: their coffee is weak. We do feel rushed since the server gives you the bill right after clearing your food. What about asking about dessert? With the bill folder, you flip it over to "green" if you need more assistance. Weird right? read more

Never thought I would frequent IHOP again, but I was hungry and it was getting close to dinner, so I decided to take the risk LOL. Mind you, my last visit to an IHOP was a good 7+ years ago, and my memory of the meal was pretty average at best. I was pleasantly surprised as this IHOP was pretty clean and organized compared another branch I had previously visited. When I received the menu I was again surprised at how pretty diverse the menu was (you mean it's not just pancakes?). Despite their robust new to me menu, I opted for the classic Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity, which is an equally robust four buttermilk pancakes topped with fruit (I selected the apple cinnamon) and some whipped cream. The pancakes were cooked perfectly with a nice brown griddled exterior and a fluffy interior. Shockingly the pancakes did not leave me with that lets move an extra notch on the belt feeling, as the pancakes weren't slathered with wads of butter like you sometimes encounter at diners. They were pretty light, well as light as four buttermilk pancakes can be. The warm maple syrup that was served with the pancakes was very tasty, and I found myself mindlessly pouring copious amounts of the warm thick sweet syrup onto the pancakes as it was so tasty. Don't forget to try the other syrups that are available table side, that comprised of: blueberry, strawberry, bosenberry, and pecan maple. I found the strawberry, blueberry, pecan maple, and bosenberry my preference (in that respective order). Meanwhile my sister (my foodie sidekick) ordered the T-Bone steak dinner.......now I know many of you that read this will be like: a T-Bone steak at IHOP? Seriously? Well being fairly knowledgeable on meats, I read on the menu the cut of the steak was USDA Select, which is pretty much the lowest end of beef available for consumption. Oh boy, I didn't feel envious for my sister! She ordered it medium rare and when it arrived the steak was cooked a spot on medium rare (of course, she allowed me some pieces of the steak to try). The seasoning was pretty decent too; with what I could discern as a simple seasoning of salt, pepper, and maybe some light garlic powder. The steak was unexpectedly tender (as Select tends to have very little fat) and overall decent to good. Though the steak's exterior could have used a better sear/char to get additional flavor/texture. The side order of potatoes were, like the steak, pleasantly tasty with tender (yet still with some crunch) potatoes and just enough Italian seasoning. Don't expect the best steak you ever had, or even something better than what you can make at home, but considering the expectations......it was a good eat.
