The general manager, Samuel, is awesome and really does all he can to make your experience a good one. However the wait staff are lacking. We were billed for a different tables meal and when we told our waitress, Tara, she took the receipt back and said she promised she corrected it. Nope. Next day we were still over charged someone else's bill. I went back and Samuel corrected it and was super helpful but still, I don't want to risk eating someplace the wait staff cannot keep tables correct and "promise" me they fixed it when they don't. read more

Stick with the pancakes. I ordered the toasted marshmallow hot chocolate. It tasted like burnt marshmallows in watered down hot cocoa. Ordered the eggs Benedict. Wondered if the English muffin was even toasted. The poached egg yolks were completely solid. The hollandaise sauce was more like a solid cold chunk rather than a sauce. About every 6 months, I keep giving this restaurant a try, hoping it will be better as a good breakfast restaurant in Mt Airy would be such a plus. Disappointed yet again. My family went to IHOP for breakfast over the weekend. The place is clean, the staff is attentive, the food made 2 members of our group ill. There was something not quite right with the sausage. We asked about it when we thought it tasted funny and were told it was the seasonings. If you stay away from the sausage dishes, it's probably ok. read more

IHOP is IHOP. It's a chain. Food is the same at all IHOP restaurants. But here in Mount Airy we have the slowest time to receive food after ordering in the US. IHOP is IHOP as far as the food goes. I happen to like it. The bathrooms are clean, therefore, I assume the kitchen is clean. The restaurant is clean. It's the servers who make the difference. The first time I ate here, I was with my daughter-in-law, who happens to be gorgeous, so I assumed that we were getting over-the-top service because the server was a young man. I went again, with my husband, a few months later. Same server; same over-the-top service, for us two oldies. A few months after that, my husband and I took our three grandchildren. I know businesses are doing their best during COVID and are short staffed so I set my expectations accordingly. But still, I should expect what I ordered. After 90 minutes in the restaurant, that still did not happen. I gave the waitress my order. Twice. Because she forgot it the first time. No biggie. It came out and was a completely different item than I actually ordered. I politely made server aware (this was a different person than waitress) He never returned. She put her head down every time she walked past our table until it was time to pay. By then, I had run out of time (again, 90 minutes) to wait for what I ordered so I let it go, paid my bill and even gave 20% tip because I'm not a jerk. We were nothing but polite with our requests for water (which tool 4 tries to get) and 3 out of four of our dinners were wrong in some way (though only mine was significantly wrong so we let the others slide). Not Accommodating. As someone who has been on Nutrisystem since October, I have always had the experience of eating out and being well accommodated with my meal needs. Not this time. As we entered as a party of nine (7 adults and 2 kids) I actually saw the hostess look at us with disgust as we entered and stood in the lobby. First warning sign. We were seated about five minutes later and were greeted by Brian, our server. He took drink orders and then I asked if the restaurant had a microwave so that my Nutrisystem dinner could be heated up. This is something that I have done many times and never have I had an issue with it until today. Brian asked if I had a doctor's note. Really? Do I look like I am 12 years old? I would think that someone who works in hospitality and the food and beverage industry would know that Nutrisystem is not a prescription diet. We even were thinking of going next door to the local supermarket to use their microwave and Brian said that no outside food is allowed in the restaurant. The attitude that I got from him was abrupt and degrading. So, I am forced to order a meal that I know I should not eat due to the manner in which it is cooked (oil, butter, etc.) The food took quite a long time to be delivered to our table (I wish I had timed it but I was still in shock over the ridiculous way I was treated.) When I ordered a two-egg omelette with American Cheese, spinach, and tomatoes (which was that best-case-scenario out of the entire menu to stay on course), I get a six-to-eight egg omelette. They don't serve oatmeal or cottage cheese which would have made my life so much easier. They can't even do a two-egg omelette? On top of all of this, the decaf coffee was the worst tasting coffee I have ever tried. I had to spit it out. If you want to feel listened to and be taken care of by wait staff who know good customer service, please don't waste your time going to this IHOP. They only care about the assembly-line way of doing things. read more

This IHOP has the best cook in Carlos from here to Florida. We've been to many up and down the coast and this one has food prepared to perfection! The omelette was neither too cooked nor undercooked. Took my family there Sunday evening, 12/29/2013 for the first time since they opened. Always thought they were just a pancake house...was I wrong! Three of us had the grilled balsamic chicken...the consensus was that it was excellent. One of us had the turkey/stuffing/mashed potatoes...the turkey was dry/cold, and the mashed potatoes were probably straight from a can. Would probably get this again but have them redo the turkey with something fresher. The service was excellent. The place was clean. The coffee was great..you get a huge pot. The prices were also very reasonable. Mt. Airy...we have a winner... they got great dinner selections too, not just pancakes. Go try it. read more

I have not been to an IHOP in years! With the amount of diners in Baltimore, I just assume go to one of them. I have to tell you, this was literally the best chain restaurant experience me and my wife have ever been to. It takes a lot for me to say that considering that we are both servers, and know a lot about restaurants and what can go wrong and right. The manager that sat us greeted us almost instantly. I don't remember his name, all I remember is the pony tail (and the vikings jacket I wanted to rip off him and burn in the parking lot when he was leaving). The server came to our table again, almost instantly, very pleasant young man, who put a smile on our faces. The food came out hot, fresh and DELICIOUS. My wife got an omelette, and I got the country friend steak and eggs, with the criss cross croissant (strawberry and rhubarb). It was hot, fresh, and made a great start to our vacation to Deep Creek. Thank you guys, we will make this IHOP a regular stop when we head back to Deep Creek next year! read more

Went to this location and was very satisfied with my experience! Only problem is, how are people going to find this place? Weird location for such a classic breakfast spot. Brought the kids in for a bite to eat and the food was actually decent. Quick to come out and seemed fresh to me! Our waitress was Danielle and she did an excellent job. Stayed attentive to us and always arrived and departed with a smile, which was delightful since the other waiters/waitresses didn't seem like they wanted to be there (typical working teenagers). This restaurant is terrible. How can they even call themselves a restaurant. Their service is awful and the server don't even know the menu. Would never advise going there. When I went I got the big steak omelette. Awful the meat was chewy and I'm pretty sure wasn't fresh. It was cold and so I sent it back and I believe they just threw it in the microwave and gave it back to me that way. I asked to speak to the cooks and I couldn't even understand them. Hit or miss. The staff is always warm and welcoming. Sometimes the food comes out to perfection, other times it's cold. When my mother and I attend, we more than always have issue flagging the waiter for our bill. Granted this is rude, but it's also rude to dispose of the table one just served in order to take on another table in an otherwise slower location. I feel more like it's an corporate rule to be more concerned with customers just seating than those who want to leave. Personally I would expect to be just as attentive to both tables. read more

Wow. Just wow. This International House of Pancakes is the cream of the crop, folks. My wife and I stopped at this location yesterday and I'm still starstruck from the amazing food and the wonderful service. We sat down at a cozy table near the center of the restaurant. Almost immediately our waitress (a shorter gal with blonde hair) took our drink orders and brought us our coffees. While we read our menus we saw a group of fishy looking gentlemen come in and sit a few tables away from us. We ordered our food (I got a Colorado omelet with pancakes and the wife got the chicken crepes) and continued to observe these strange men. They were mumbling in frantic hushed tones about "dipping out really fast," whatever that meant. We were still eating when they got their bill, and they attempted to dine and dash! I let my waitress know immediately, and before we knew it, the whole staff had strapped on their riot gear and neutralized their targets. Let me tell you, these IHOP employees are experts in tactical precision. once the situation was over, they got right back to serving pancakes! Folks, these aren't your mother's run-of-the-mill ordinary flapjacks. My first bite of these buttermilk babies blew my mind with their flavor. I swear that the Colorado Omelet has a special ingredient in it that caused me to have a vision, and I made peace with all the monsters of my past. Did this IHOP change my life for the better? Extremely slow service. Came in on a Sunday evening, and was told a 10 minute wait. It turned out to be 25 minutes. The Shopping Center seemed to be having an event going on in the parking lot and the Fairgrounds. Restaurant had what appeared to be only 3 servers working, which seemed to be enough considering, there were only a handful of patrons in the restaurant. It took about 45 minutes to get our food for a family of 6. They appeared to be making food and taking it outside to the event. Most likely would have gotten our food quicker outside.
