We really loved the pub food at the Hornets Nest. I had their cream of crab and boy was it delicious and in addition to the crab already cooked in the soup, they add another scoop on top!! How great is that? And delicious to boot. My husband also had the flakiest cape of cod. Really moist inside and crunchy on the outside and not greasy at all. I snuck a few and helped myself from his generous serving. I was so full that I barely took two to three bites of my Reuben sandwich and took the rest home. The Reuben as a leftover for next day lunch was not a disappointment at all. It just took about 2.5 minutes in the air fryer to warm up and the rye was crunchy on the outside and the meat and sauerkraut was perfect and not soggy at all. Friday night is hopping at Hornet's Nest Grille! Wanted to try a new spot and landed on this one in Damascus. Got there at about 7pm and most of the inside was already spoken for so we sat outside on the front patio. We had Megan as our server and she was really nice and attentive. She even offered tasters for beers we wanted to try before getting a full glass. We got the side Cesar salad and side Garden Salad to start, which were really good, and then ordered the Double Sting Burger w/ onion rings and the Blackened Chicken Alfredo for our main entrees. Both were good! Megan recommended the chocolate lava cake with ice cream for dessert and I would go back again just for that. It was hot and delicious! Overall a really nice experience. Checked it out after a game with the kids and we were pleasantly surprised. The burgers were spectacular and so good! I wasn't sure if we were going to get seating on a Friday night as we could not make reservations. As we entered, there was a group of five people waiting for a table. But luckily for us, a tiny table fit only for two was available. It was all the way in the back! But that was totally fine. We liked our little corner. The place was definitely packed but our server never forgot about us. Back in our little corner were memorabilia from the local schools dating back to the 90's from what I can tell. It really had a nostalgic feel. To start we got the crabby rolls from the specials menu. It was more creamy than crabby. I tasted more of the cream cheese than any crab. For entrees we ordered the fish and chips and main street Madeira. The fish came in small filets that were the size of chicken tenders. Not a huge fan of the portion. The fries were soggy but glad that the coleslaw came in a lettuce pocket. At least that prevented the coleslaw liquid from seeping onto the fish and fries. The chicken madeira was fantastic. I almost never order chicken breasts fearing that it would be dry but this was not. The two breast meat was cooked in a madeira wine sauce topped with mushrooms and a mozzarella, fontina, and spinach cheese blend. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I can taste the lovely wine. Served along the dish was red mashed potatoes. I love red mashed potatoes because it has a bit of the skin. I liked this dish a lot! Service was attentive, friendly, and fast. This place is a neighborhood gem. Not sure about parking. There was some street parking and there may be a lot next to the restaurant but from the direction that we came, we ended up parking across the street. I would prefer to give this place a 3.5. I am rating a 4 because this may just be my personal taste here. Although we have lived in the area for a few years now, this was our first time trying. The service was friendly and very good. The outdoor seating option is nice on the sidewalk, but we dined inside. The inside is designed as a single dining room with the bar running the length of the space. There were some TVs with sports airing behind the bar. The prices were very reasonable. The food was good. The portions were large and the prices were good. I felt like the flavor was missing something with the fish and chips and the same with the zucchini side. The grouper was pretty good. We have been coming here for years. I have tried different things on the menu, and everything is amazing. Recently I have been hung up on the Main Street Madeira. I think the last 10 times, I have ordered it at least 7 or 8. Donnie's Orange Chicken is another one that I cannot get enough of. The staff is ALWAYS great and so pleasant to deal with. Fortunately, we are only about 25 minutes away, so it is convenient for us. However, I would easily drive an hour or so to come here and eat. They just do it right. read more

We were looking for a place to eat nearby and came across this spot - we liked that they had great ratings on both Google and Yelp. Parking was on the side and in the back. As we entered, I noticed a "2024 Best of Bethesda (Magazine) Winner" sticker at the front door - even better. I looked it up later and saw it was for Reader's Pick for Best Restaurant in Clarksburg/Damascus - good to know. As we sat, I looked around and noticed that everywhere within the restaurant was all things Hornet's - I guess it is a community thing or maybe it is a school nearby (not sure). We got their menu and I decided to try one of their crushes. They had several flavors, and I decided on the Grapefruit Crush. It was tasty even with lots of ice which never watered down my drink - I will have that again. For food, I had the Build-A-Burger, cooked how I wanted, with provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce, and ketchup (which was on the side). The burger came with fries, which I didn't fancy too much even though I ate it. Note that the lettuce and tomato are upon request (per the menu). This is your every day bar and grille. Apparently, it is really popular with the local high school kids. The server was a little slow and the food took a long time to get to the table. I think it's more of a locals' joint. We ate there on a Sunday for lunch and it was somewhat crowded. I think we had to wait approximately 10-15 minutes for a table. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. None of the food that we ordered should have taken as long as it did. The sandwich was average and wasn't anything special. I feel like I'd think more highly of this restaurant if I lived in this area. With all the other establishments around, I probably would choose somewhere else next time. read more

The best thing about this place is the food and I had not had a burger that good in a very long time and despite being around the Metro DC area I absolutely want to go back as soon as I can to try other food. I had chosen to stop at this restaurant after finding a cheap place to fill gas after an event nearby and this looked like the best place to get food which I am very grateful for picking. The atmosphere isn't that great with it being an older bar restaurant type establishment feel and the outdoor patio in the front is very cramped but the great food easley over looks that. Staff was pretty good but at times the waitress cared more about chatting with co-workers rather than attending to customers but only a minor downside as they still were pretty attentive for most things and seeing if there were any other needs or such. All extra toppings were extra with the burger but it was still reasonably priced already and it was cooked perfectly. There is parking to the side of the building with a little bit of a walk and if Lucky there are a couple spots right in front of the restaurant as street parking. Depending on the severity of disability say a person using a cane then it is very accessible with flat entrances all on the ground floor. It is unfortunately a bit cramped so with disability mobility decrease say a walker or wheelchair would be a much more difficult time to navigate but still possible I rarely ever get 5 Star reviews but the food at hornet's nest grille was something I greatly look forward to having again so despite a number of negatives which I feel is impossible to avoid that they earned a high Mark rating which I rarely ever give due to the value towards the quality of food. read more

The more often I visit this fantastic local eatery, the more I am incredibly pleased. Tonight the specials included pulled pork many ways. I chose to create my own burger by taking their jalapeno burger and adding the pork. It was amazing. The fajitas are so good that my bride had them for the third visit in a row. You'll feel right at home surrounded by Hornets gear and many locals, if you're from the area you'll more than likely run into a familiar face. The service is always great. The staff always have great attention to detail, are polite, and quick. The food is consistent and delicious. Hornets Nest fries with their ranch or their hornet sauce are a hard hitter. My go-to on the menu has got to be the buffalo chicken wrap, but it's hard to go wrong. Their burgers are great, and the rest of their sandwich list is as well. One of my favorites is their take-out.
