Wow. Nearly all of my posts are positive, but I can't let this go. I had asked for a patty melt, and when I noticed that I got an egg sandwich I asked if I could indeed have a patty melt. I was smiling, and said to the manager that I normally would be fine with a wrong order, but we never get to go to Waffle House, as there aren't many where we live. Her reply was they could take it off my bill, or she could make one, "which I really don't want to do." Not a smile, not a sorry from the manager. I paid for the sandwich, but didn't eat it - that was my choice, I get it. Insult to injury, the bill was 18.75, and my daughter (she paid) asked for change for a five. My daughter loves going to waffle house when shes at school, so while she was home visiting we stopped by at this one in Urbana. Its a newer spot, so pretty clean. We walked in and waited a bit before grabbing some seats in their bar area. Its definitely a faced paced place, but they have good breakfast options and of course you have to try a waffle. Service wasnt bad. It took a bit before we were served, but they seem to always be busy and have a decent flow. We got the cheesecake hash and a blue berry waffle. Overall, food was pretty good and we got our orderes pretty quickly. I do prefer my waffles to be thicker, so that is the one downside. Waffle House is a pretty good, fast, breakfast option and would recommend if you have one in the area. read more

Upon entering it was a bit hard to tell who was waiting for a table and who was waiting on to go orders. I asked an employee and she instantly became rude. I believe her name was Tee. I asked if we could take the seats open along the counter (only seating for 2) she got nasty and let me know the seats go to next in line. Which I was. The others standing around had children and could not fit, where I was asking to sit . From that point on she assisted our server with our food drops and she was just rude. Unfortunately our food wasn't what we asked for but we just stopped to get a quick bite on the way to a track meet. We love Waffle House and always order the same items. Next stop; the WAFFLE HOUSE!!!! So happy I passed by one of these on a mini road trip because it's been a minute and it was calling my name. The staff here is AMAZING & a VIBE!!! So friendly and welcoming plus remember me from last year lol. Quick service with a smile and laughter which fits my personality. I ordered a EGG & CHEESE MELT ON TEXAS TOAST... sooooo good, hot and delicious. Also, ordered a WAFFLE with CHOCOLATE CHIPS. Definitely did not disappoint at all and the butter melted oh so perfectly with the syrup. I was stuffed but satisfied beyond my eyes. I am always a skeptic when I see less than 5 Stars. Just had a taste for pork chops and hash browns. The place was very clean and the staff professionally dressed. I was really expecting the social media drama associated with the brand. None of that! The only reason I did not give 5stars was the waiter I had seemed a little new and timid. Missed a few cues a seasoned server would have jumped on. It was kind of slow and the grill cook came by each table checking to see if they got it right. This never happens in the larger more popular breakfast chains. There was no overbearing music playing or chatter from behind the counter. I haven't been to Waffle House in a really long time and man, it was sooo good! My partner and I got there at around noon on a Sunday and unsurprisingly, it was packed. There were a lot of people waiting to be seated and a waitress was taking names. There were a couple times when people were not respecting the wait. They would sit at tables that weren't cleaned or try to butt in front of others, however the staff was very attentive of this and shut it down immediately, making sure everything was clean and orderly. I ordered my usual: the All-Star special, but replaced the grits for hashbrowns. There are a bunch of different toppings you can put on the hashbrowns and in my case I got them covered (cheese), peppered (jalapeño), and capped (mushrooms). One really great thing about Waffle House is that it essentially caters to anything you want and has options for every one. My eggs were cheesy, hashbrowns and toast were crispy, and everything was hot! The only downsides were that the syrup dispensers were practically empty and there was no complimentary jelly with the toast, but neither of these things bothered me because each table was full and there was a line out the door and the staff was super busy. read more

Waffle House is a classic! It's only a few in MD, so going was a treat. I got the All Star Meal for old time sake and it SLAPPED (compliment)! Service was quick and honestly no complaints. The server we had was attentive and made sure we had what we asked for. The restaurant was pretty busy (as to be expected during breakfast hours), but tables came available pretty quickly and was cleaned fairly swiftly. A few months ago, I took my favorite little person here so he could experience the greatness that is Waffle House. We didn't have to wait too long and we sat at the counter for even more novelty. Growing up in NOVA going to Waffle House was a treat. We would go to the one in Fredericksburg. The Waffles were always amazing and here I am decades later still loving it. We came to this location twice in less than 24 hours. Both times our waitresses provided us with amazing customer service. The breakfast food came out fresh tasting. The environment is not the cleanest. Windows, the floor were dirty to look at and tables could use a good cleaning and not just plates removed. Waffle House has been a recent discovery for me. Being a child in a fresh off the boat kinda family means I missed out this little piece of Americana growing up. Basically on road trips as a kid, I would point to any Waffle House (WH), IHOP, Denny's etc, and have the following conversation: Me: Do you wanna eat a waffle? It doesn't have to be a waffle. Parents: Baroo ghom sho, sahar. (Translation:Go away, sahar) Me: Okay, bye... Usually after, they'd just throw a thermos of hot black tea at me and some kabob wrapped up in saran wrap which is pretty much the persian equivalent of jerky or something, since the exciting part of road trips as a kid was driving long distances and eating the exact same food you ate at home. So I would quietly sit in the backseat dreaming of the day I could eat waffles. Growing up, I would hear lots of questionable things about Waffle House (eg. it's unsanitary, or like fight club etc). Even on trips down south I could not convince a single one of my friends to stop here. I am pretty much convinced nearly everyone I knew hated the WH. Then finally, on a day driving through Urbana, my chance to eat at Waffle House cometh! Despite all the naysayers I freaking luv Waffle House, not just for waffles but for any quick, cheap and greasy meal. I might especially like this location, cause even when it is packed, the staff is super efficient and friendly. I love they way they all chime in and say "Good Morning" to everyone walking in. A couple things to note before you sit down to eat, the menus on the table in the mornings are a breakfast menu which is limited, you can always ask and order off the full menu. Also during the weekdays this is a find a seat wherever kind of arrangement cause there are very few customers, but be prepared to put your name on a list and wait for awhile on any given weekend morning/afternoon. Speaking of eating, I have been here a few times and for your Yelping pleasure I have compiled a list of items I like here that have not caused any stomach discomfort to date: Hash browns-THEY HAVE AN ENTIRE SECTION OF THE MENU DEVOTED TO HASHBROWNS. You can get them extra crispy and smothered in cheese oir with onions, peppers and chili. I prefer them regular or just crispy. The Bacon Egg &Cheese sandwich-It's cheap, tasty ($7.95) and hits the spot and comes with a generous side of hash browns Chocolate Chip Waffles-There is no need for syrup, and it is the size of a plate so basically it's hard for just one person to eat it. Also the batter has some sweetness to it already, so the chocolate chips is all you need. Texas Bacon Angus Patty Melt with Hashbrowns-I just discovered patty melt is really just a burger on regular bread. In this case, Texas Toast. The burger is moist, possibly artery clogging greasy and it is the best hangover cure known to man. The cheese grits are a-ok, not my favorite grits. Since you're open minded enough to ready my review of Waffle House, as a bonus, I've thrown in a couple of hidden Waffle House Secrets for you: 1-Waffle House began providing candlelit dinners on Valentine's Day, which is such a depressing thought that I can't even make a joke about it. Actually, yes I can. I totally looked up the instagram hashtag they gave out just to see who would go spend Valentine's Day at the Waffle House. Apparently, a lot of hipsters people trying to be ironic go to Waffle House on V day, the diarrhea comments on nearly every picture is worth the hashtag hunt. 2-Waffle House is ALWAYS open so FEMA actually uses something called the Waffle House Index to determine the severity of hurricane damage, as an aside surfers use this index to determine if it is worth driving to hurricane stricken seaside town. The index goes as such: Green: the restaurant is serving a full menu, indicating the restaurant has power and damage is limited. Yellow: the restaurant is serving a limited menu, indicating there may be no power or only power from a generator or food supplies may be low. Red: the restaurant is closed, indicating severe damage. Basically, that sh*t is serious 3-In case you're wondering why your eggs for some reason came with a packet of mayo and some pickles for no reason, well the grill cooks use the placement of those condiments as markers for what goes on the plate. Every time I make a trip to Western Maryland it's an absolute must that I stop at this particular Waffle House location. Since this and the Fredericksburg location are the only ones that are close to me, I have to get my waffle fix when I can. I went to the outlets in Hagerstown for Black Friday, so on our way back in the wee hours of the morning, we stopped by for a quick waffle, or two. It's off the beaten path, so I've never encountered a long wait or crowded area. For 4 o'clock in the morning, the staff is always very pleasant, friendly and clearly professionals. Professionals you ask? Well, anyone that can call off your order in "diner slang" has clearly been doing this for years, therefore, they're PROFESSIONALS!!! If you've never been to a Waffle House, you don't know what you're missing!!!!! All locations that I've eaten in have delicious food, but I've noticed the further south you go, the better the food seems to get. This is the place where you see people in the movies just pop in at the most random times. It is truly the old timey diners that you would just go in and ask for some eggs and some coffee. Actually, this is what I did. I was under some stress and needed some food at 2 am in the area. Well, there were really not that many choices out there for this time. In fact, I drove 20 minutes just to come here to eat. I walked in, got some steak and eggs. It was not the most mindblowing meal, but I really liked the fact that it was 24 hours and it worked out well for me. I can definitely see myself comeback for a quick dine in meal that will not break the bank. It was made quickly and the steak did not rest so the Jus just rolled out and it made the eggs soggy. This is by far not a gourmet meal. It is not meant to be. It is certainly not trying to be. For what they are doing, which is providing quickly made edible foods, then I can give it this rating. They are trying to just quench your thirst or satisfy your hunger as soon and as cheaply as possible. For this, they have achieved their goals and I did not get a stomach ache later in the day. We were seated promptly (party of 2) on a Sunday morning in an area that was socially distant from the nearest customer. Our waitress was very friendly but we could tell she had her hands full since she only checked in with us once after taking our order when we wanted our check. The food was prepared and brought out quickly for the both of us. Not a fan of how they literally put a slice of American cheese on my hash browns. It just looked like a meal I made in college but nonetheless the hash browns and Texas bacon/egg/cheese were delicious. All employees wore masks and consistently disinfected nearby surfaces since more customers were coming towards the end of our meal. Disgusting. I mean...if there's hair floating around on a dish usually that's something that everyone reacts horribly to. The waitress, though nice, seemed to just ignore it was there. Maybe this is normal for Wafflehouse but I sure hope not. Aside from that this place was ok. The food is mediocre but it is also uniquely gross...not all that bad. Waffle House as a chain is interesting. It trends on Twitter Friday/Saturday nights so you know people need to be wasted to enjoy this. Waitress took our order and then had a cook make it. A few minutes later took another tables order. My boyfriend only got half of his food before the other table had all they ordered. We waited for our waffles for a few more minutes and they finally came. We were still missing the bacon...a little while later the waitress was talking on her phone eating the bacon. She never came to check on us, ask us if we needed anything, or brought the check. She wouldn't even look at us. He had to go up and ask for it, to which she didn't even seem surprised and offered to refund the bacon. We LOVE Waffle House and were obviously disappointed. I been to this spot on numerous occasions and decided to get breakfast. Looking at the menu, they seem to have removed the one dish I usually order which was the Egg & Cheese meal. I ended up going with the All Star platter. It wasn't bad but my scrambled eggs wasn't thoroughly scrambled and my raisin toast wasn't fully toasted. Anyways, I really didn't come for the dish rather more so for the waffles to which I've always found to be the highlight of each visit. But for the first time, I found the waffle to be a tad bit dry. This is the second time I've been to this location. We were served by Sam both times. The first time she seemed a little standoffish. I shrugged it off thinking she had a bad day. We just went again today and experienced the same rude behavior. She's very nice but makes a few rude comments when you ask her for something that she wasn't planning on hearing. For instance I asked for some jam after some time and she responded with "I know how to do my job". I think she has a specific way of doing things and when they're not done in an order she gets a bit irritated. I didn't want to write this but she really has been rude to us for no reason. Although the staff is very understanding friendly and polite, this whole establishment is a mess... earlier this month a friend and I decided to eat at this establishment because we missed waffle house, huge mistake. The place was empty, there were many workers yet, all the tables were dirty, floors were sticky, sugar thrown everywhere, anything you could think of honestly. We went to the one table that was not dirty and sat down and ordered. As we got our food, we were exited to eat but then suddenly we found mold in our toast a few minutes into eating... There is no quality control in this store and even worse, mid eating a waffle, I saw 2 cockroaches walking around on the walls, I had to remain calm to not freak my friend and myself out. This waffle house is not what it used to be and seeing on the way out that there was pest control fumigating outside the establishment, I cant help but think how a place like this is open for business with a possible cockroach infestation.
