Usually, when I come here, the service isn't bad. However, this time, we were 'served' by a middle-aged Hispanic woman who knew absolutely nothing about the menu or how to use the tablet. We spent nearly 15 minutes waiting for her to figure it out before she finally asked two other waitresses, including the manager, for help. Even then, she still needed my assistance to select the items I wanted on HER work tablet. She didn't even know that '2 SA' meant two sausages, something I could figure out easily as a customer. To make matters worse, she interrupted our order to ask, 'What's that smell? Do you guys smell that?' - which, ironically, seemed to be her own body odor since the smell went away after she left. Not only was it inappropriate to comment on an odor in her own workplace, but it was also disgusting considering we were about to eat. She had no regard for our time, and when the manager stepped in to help with our side order, our waitress giggled about it. Earlier, she even tried to justify her inability to input our order by claiming, 'Some items aren't on all of the tablets,' as if that excused the situation. Instead of admitting she was struggling, she kept making excuses, clearly trying to mask how incompetent she actually was. Additionally, when it came time to pay, she hovered over my husband as he filled out the tip area. Completely unprofessional behavior and I'm not sure how she's serving tables without knowing the basics (i.e. how to use the work tablet, menu items, etc). We had stopped going to IHOP several months ago, due to long waits, mediocre food and poor service. Yesterday we decided to try again, after much doubtful discussion. We even vowed that this was our last attempt. The changes are stunning. The restaurant appeared all but spotless. A sweet, attentive hostess immediately showed us to our table. Within minutes a delightful server, Crystal, came to take our drink order. She quickly returned with our drinks and took our order. In very short order, she returned with everything exactly as we requested. All of our food was perfectly prepared and piping hot. Crystal checked In frequently, without being intrusive. My son had Strawberry Crepes, and they were just terrible. Had an "off" taste. I thought they tasted like they were made of mashed potatoes. Very off putting. Only gave 2 stars because of the food and general restaurant conditions. The servers themselves were very nice and accommodating, but that was about the only positive. There was a hair in my French toast (along with several random pieces of something green colored) and a mushroom in my hashbrowns. The food took forever even though it wasn't busy (I assume due to understaffing) so I didn't bother mentioning anything. The bathrooms were not clean at all. A few minutes later after our order was taken, we were the only people there, a man and his date arrive. They both walk into the kitchen. My family ate at this location on Friday afternoon. The restaurant was practically empty at approx 6pm. We noticed that all 3 of the handicapped parking spaces in front of the building had vehicles parked in them. Turns out, it was the employees that had decided to have front door parking. While we were eating there were two different times when a customer needed the parking places. They were legitimately handicapped. It's very sad when employees take these spaces.
