This is the second time we've gone to this IHOP and once again, terrible service. We came here on a Tuesday at 5:50 pm when it was completely dead. 3 cars in the parking lot, including mine. The hostess sat us right away but then we sat there for 15 minutes and still no one bothered to greet us or take our drink orders. There were 3 servers and not one bothered. The first time we came for dinner on a sunday and while we did get a server that time they didn't have steak, or caesar salads because they 'ran out' , and once we did order burgers it took them over an hour to bring them to the table. They also got our drinks order wrong... Orange juice and coffee. So many choices in the area you would think they'd try harder and focus on quality service but it's obvious they don't care. read more

The food tastes fine, however the service is not up to par with other IHOPs. There seems to be only one or two people ever working there. It takes a while to get your food. One of the workers seemed stressed that she was serving so many people and I would be to. I'm not sure why they don't have more people working at a time. I love the IHOP chain. I frequent the Woodruff Rd location very often. So regarding this location (Simpsonville), let me start from the beginning of our visit and walk you through. We were initially greeted by this really sweet, outgoing hostess. "If you need anything, just let me know. I'll be your hostess today. Your server will be with you shortly." My first thought was that this will be a great experience, if this is how we are greeted at the door. BOY WAS I WRONG! For a majority of the time, we (and one other table of 3) were the only people in the restaurant. There were 7 or 8 servers on the clock. We were seated at the back of the restaurant. The dinning room is arranged in such a way that the seats were behind the server stations. As opposed to how they are at the Woodruff Rd location where the server stations are at the back behind the seats. This wouldn't be so much of a problem except... I'll elaborate further a little later on. After being seated, it took about 5 minutes for the server to come to the table. He was pleasant and (after what we observed) was far from the least professional. While placing our order, my wife ordered the "Pumpkin Pancake Meal". 2 Panacakes 2 Eggs 2 Bacon Hashbrown Over the years of going to the Woodruff Road location, the servers there know how to manipulate the menu so that things come out best for the customer. They know that happy customers mean bigger tips. So when we ordered today, my wife asked for no eggs and double hash browns instead. The server's response to this was, "I cannot do that. I just got yelled at for doing that. I can't do any substitutions on the eggs." Seriously!?! Well that is completely bull crap because other branches of this chain, told us to do this. So after that bull crap... While we waited for our food to come, all of the other servers were standing around at the server stations (right next to our table) talking about how much they make in tips during their shift. And how annoying some of their customers were today. By my way of thinking, this was very inappropriate conversation in front of customers. Then they were sitting on the floor talking while counting their money. All of the employees that we encountered looked like high school kids or early college aged kids. And what's worse... they acted like it. After we finished eating, I visited the restrooms. They were absolutely filthy. Pee all over the floor. It smelled like crap, and the sinks were dirty. When I went to wash my hands, the sinks were hands-free. The faucets were angled to a point where it sprayed all over the place. So make sure you stand back and off to the side so you don't get doused with water. When I got back to the table, I saw a server replenishing the the condiments on another table. She accidentally dropped them on the floor. She, then, picked them all up and put them back on the table. As far as I know, you are not supposed to do that. Especially when the floor is filthy. After finishing eating, my wife said, "Let's go. I want to get out of here." When we went to go check out, there was no cashier. So we had to wait. And wait. And wait. Finally one of the gabby servers noticed we were waiting and came over rudely, asked for the check and said, "Here. Fill this out." I quickly signed it, then left... Never to return... IHOP was definitely off their game today. My family and I usually frequent this Ihop due to the fact it's right next to our house and we were ecstatic that there's an Ihop in Simpsonville. But the staff today was horrible. Our waitress was Kirsten, I did not find out her name until I saw it on the check. When we came into the restaurant, we got seated in about 5 min. But then waited 10-15 min for our server to arrive and when she arrived she didn't greet us or anything but just stared at my sister and I like we were from another planet of some sort. She took our order, did not make eye contact and I tried to make a request to her about my food item in which I had a hint that she's going to forget since she had put away her notepad. In which by the time I got my food, she did forget. Not once had she came and check on our table, and when I had asked for hot syrup from one of the other servers it never arrived. Finally after about 20 min of not seeing my server I asked for a box to go but did not get one until another 10 minutes later I don't know who is training these servers but they definitely need to be retrained. read more

Great Food, Great Service After reading all of the not so great reviews for this IHOP , I didn't know what to expect. First off, the dining room was clean, and decorated for the holidays. Our server was friendly and provided attentive service . Our orders came out in a timely fashion and were all correct. I will come back again. read more

I went to this new IHOP after it was remodeled. This was my first time visiting this location. No complaints here and I'm picky. The weekends are pretty crowded. Hands down THE worst eating experience in my life (and I've spent a lot of time in 3rd world countries). The waitress completely ignored us (hubby, mil, & bil). She gave awesome service to the table beside us, served every other table. It took another customer to say something to her for us to get our food. It was cold. This place is the Walmart of restaurants. No one comes here for service, in fact I don't know why anybody would come here, except that it's open 24 hours. If there's one person in the restaurant it will still take 45 minutes to get eggs and bacon. After 10pm, with a kitchen full of staff you will not be greeted by anyone at the door it will take at least 15 minutes to be seated and 20 minutes to get your order taken. You can never really get a hot coffee at this place unless you ask the waiter/waitress multiple times to get you a hot pot (took me 4 times). Spread out across multiple visits I've had a hair in my milk, lip stick still on my coffee mug from previous customer, (I don't think they clean their dishes). Also, with several clear open seats, and several employees, it took just me and my friend 10 minutes to be seated. Absolutely a terrible first experience. I went in and heard the cashier, not sure if she was a manager, tellin an employee how she was not gonna take orders from anyone. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. We didn't even get to try the food--we didn't get past the service--or lack thereof, I should say. We seated ourselves, after NOT being greeted when we came in on a Friday night a bit after 10:30. We sat at our table for 7-8 minutes before the manager brought us menus; had to ask him for those. We waited about 2-3 more minutes after the waitress brought us water. My fiancé wasn't quite ready to order, which she stated to the waitress, after which we were made to feel COMPLETELY INVISIBLE!!! After another 10-11 minutes of NO ONE coming to take our order, much less look in our direction we left without placing an order. This location should be renamed from IHOP to I DON'T CARE!!! When it first opened, everything was always good. Since then nothing but down hill. Service got horrible and food takes FOREVER to get. I love going to IHOP with my family and friends. This IHOP does not live up to the average level of IHOP. There manage has hired staff that is not responsible and does not serve its guest well. They brought out my families food slow, staggered, and cold. They forget one of our meals, a kids meal too, and then the manager took off the missing meal. This act of taking off a meal doesn't not change our overall experience. They need to hire new staff and get a new manager. read more

Went on Thursday afternoon and my table of two was the only one in the entire restaurant. The entire time we were there we were the only table. The pregnant waitress or hostess or manager didn't even want to bother seating us. She walked past us a few times pretending we weren't there and finally huffed over to us yelling back to the kitchen area for someone else to seat us because she didn't know where they wanted us.....we were the only ones there...did it matter? She was instructed to seat us much to her evident dismay. She then kept yelling back 20's 30's where do you want them? Totally empty restaurant again did it matter? Our waitress was very sweet and very young, she was trying to do a good job just new it seemed. Our orders were both a little wrong. Pancakes not right and missing stuff from one omelette but overall the food was good. It depends on what you order and who is working. I never come here unless the lot is under half full because the service and seating would just take waaayyyy too long. If you do come here make sure that you are not in a hurry. I always either get their omelette, pancakes, or waffles. These items are difficult to mess up. I don't care for my hash browns in the omelette, and there is no fuss about getting them on the side instead of in the omelette. Don't go when they are running specials because it is just not worth it. If you let your waitress know how you want your food, they usually try to get it to you the way you like it. It seems every time we have gone to this ihop that there's always a problem. The place was empty, and we were sitting amongst dirty tables for almost an hour. In that hour, we never received our food. The only reason I sat there that long is because my kids were super excited about getting the green grinch pancakes. My daughter and I have made a tradition of visiting this IHOP about every other Saturday. That typically makes our visits during the busier time of day and the service we have usually is great. Every now and then we have to wait a little longer for refills or for the check to come but that is understandable under the circumstances.
