Don't do it. No matter how much you crave pancakes or breakfast don't do it. Even if you've loved IHop somewhere else, still, don't go here. There is a Cracker Barrel less than 0.2 mile nearby. It's so much better. We came here last year when it first opened. The place was nice inside and it was a little crowded. But the service was slowest I've ever experienced. For that reason we haven't came back here for nearly a year. Today we tried again. We said "let's give them a chance". We came in the door and there are waitresses and waiters all over the place and about 3 tables with people in them. When the person up front finally showed up, we told them how many people and she said "let me Go check to see if we have a table". Literally there are tables EVERYWHERE because it's nearly empty. After what felt like forever they sat us down. After we sat down then we waited for our waitress to show up. She came out and took our order and that was slow. She talked super low - almost whispering. This is not a joke. It's just weird looking back. After about 20 mins she came back and said "I'm so sorry I need to get your order again, they cancelled your order and I don't remember what you asked for". So we started over. That took forever again. And her low talking made it difficult for my parents who have hearing aids already. After that we waited another 25 mins for the food. By this time, there was LITERALLY no one in the restaurant but us. She brought one plate at a time for all 6 of us. And unfortunately for them, mine was the last and it took another 5+ minutes. We actually had to ask one of the 4 people that was cleaning feverishly around the tables to check on my plate. No refills. No asking how was everything until the very end. She had literally no table other than us and still had no time to help. First time in a very long time that I left a $0 tip but she should have actually gave ME a tip for putting up with a 90 minute meal that should have taken 20-30 total. Poor waitressing. But even poor cooking management and overall restaurant management. Take my advice. The food is not good enough to wait for terrible service like this. Go to Cracker Barrel. They are less than 0.2 mile nearby. You'll thank me later. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The restaurant was empty, 12:40 on a Friday. Trash on floor, tables needing cleared, and our table had to be wiped before we could eat. Group of workers sitting at a different table looking at phones, chatting and laughing. Fifteen minutes passed and no one came to ask us if we were ready to order. Finally decided to take our drinks to go. When my husband went to pay the girl had NO change for cash, HAD to pay with a card. Then she actually said "I was giving you time to look over the menu." There used to be an ihop in the Signal Hill Mall in Statesville but the Mall was a dying mall with only a few tenants left including ihop. ihop closed this location probably a year or so ago. This new ihop location used to be Hooters that closed probably 10 years ago and has sat vacant until ihop moved in and renovated the property. I had been to the Hooters a long time ago and I must say, I am impressed with the remodel. From here it was downhill at least in terms of service. Walked in and was promptly seated and after reviewing the menu, ordered my regular unsweetened tea with Lemon and from the menu, the original Cheeseburger which I customized by making it a double with a second patty. 15 then 20 minutes went by and the server keep assuring me that my order would be out shortly. Finally I asked for my check so I could pay and leave. I was already going to be late getting back to work. The server asked it I wanted it to go and I said sure so long as it did not take more than 5 minutes. That is when she told me there had been an error in the kitchen. The order was put in for a double but they only put one patty on and when the error was found, they merely threw another patty on the grill. If they had explained the error earlier, I would have changed my order to a single. Server kept saying that I would not be charged but it was not her fault, and she should not pay for someone else's mistakes. She did bring me a tea to go and I waited as long as I could before having to return to work. When I got back to work, I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. He asked what my problem was and asked me to go into detail which I did. Turns out, he was already aware of the situation, so the detailed description was not warranted and only a waste of my time. He did say they tried to catch me as I was walking out the front door which considering I walk with a cane, would not have taken much to catch me. He did offer to comp the meal next time I came in but I declined. I go to restaurant for not only food but equally as important, timely service. Dear sabrina, we are currently waiting and have been waiting for an hour + without being offered drinks or to be recognized by any staff including the manager. The cups were dirty and wet and the juice isn't even edible!!! DO NOT COME HERE!! Very disappointed in the customer service aswell as the sanitation in this establishment..... Very very slow. Food was okay but it took 20 mins just to be seated and there were plenty of empty tables with no one else waiting . We then waited an additional 20 minutes or so to have our order taken and another 45 minutes to get our breakfast (3 kids meals and an adult breakfast meal). read more

DO NOT GO!! Where do I begin. I was there on a Sunday with my wife and 2 others. There were only 2 cars in the parking lot when we got there and in retrospect I should have taken that as a sign but having a craving for delicious pancakes we preceded inside. There was one, maybe two tables seated when we entered so I definitely didn't think it would be a long wait to get food, but i was wrong. The waitress took out order and informed us they were out of crapes, the wife was disappointed but she ordered something else. 20 minutes went by and out waitresses returned to ask exactly what we ordered again oddly enough. She returned again 10 minutes later to inform us they were out of hash browns and ask my wife how many pancakes she wanted again. After this 30 minutes of waiting we noticed the waitress was just now entering put order into the system. 20 minutes later we received our food. My pancakes were wrong and my wife's were cold. Our drinks maintained a good 90% empty the whole time and ice melted away. The waitress did periodically inform us how bad and busy her day was and how she wasn't getting and help from other employees. 1.5 hrs later we paid our bill and left the worst pancake house in NC. I have been a long time customer of IHOP starting at the mall location. I can admit that I don't frequent this location as much as the mall location. The atmosphere here isn't the same. At the mall location everyone knew me by name and I knew everyone there and even when someone new started they knew me and I knew them. It felt like family to me. I still come to this location sometimes and a few from the old place works here and they still know me. But I came here today because I seen it was under new management but I can honestly say I probably won't be back no time soon. First off the hostess wasn't very friendly. I know people have bad days. We all do from time to time but if your working with the public you shouldn't bring it to work. The server was ok. The silverware I was given didn't look like it had been washed at all. The server brought me some more. The food was mediocre. The grits were like warm. They weren't even hot enough to melt the butter. The omelet was ok just looked like it was cooked too long. The multi grain toast was good and crispy. The coffee was good and hot. Disappointing. We tired this place out shortly after it first opened up, and we had a great experience. We went back last week and were just throughly disappointed. We should've know something was up when there were no cars in the parking lot. its a relaxing atmosphere. However the staff seemed unorganized and unprepared about providing service. food took forever to arrive. some of our food was great, our omelets were perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. However, hash browns burnt, pancakes burnt, bacon rubbery, and unripened avocado slices still with the peeling on. We have friends that went a few days layer and had a completely different experience than us. So it's like play Russian roulette. It might be great, it might be horrible. read more

My pancakes were dark brown and smelled burned. The hash brown was much like the pancakes -over cooked. I litterly had to use a knife to cut the pancakes and hash brown. The menu was hard to read and confusing. My avocado was not ripe and still had the peeling on it when I got my omelette. I got the spicy poblano omelette, it was so spicy I couldn't hardly eat it. And I love SPICY. Some of our hash brown were burnt and couldn't be eaten. Pancakes were not fluffy, but overdone and almost burnt. The bacon was chewy. Go somewhere else if you want breakfast. Eat at your restaurant on 10/3 and my server Shanna went out of her way to make sure our drinks never got completely empty and that we were well taken care of but at the same time not over doing it and pestering us.
