The sausage gravy was lacking flavor, with the main taste being cream. The sausage within the gravy was cut up sausage links, and for myself and my wife at least, we prefer ground sausage. Lastly, the biscuits were nothing to write home about. They were not bad but they didn't wow. Overall, I gave Shorty's a three because the food didn't wow me. There was not anything wrong with the food we had at all, and we will probably be back in the future to try some of their other food. I ordered the deal that comes with a large coke or any other fountain drink and a couple other choices that I can't remember, maybe lemonade. A double cheeseburger that is a little smaller then the main menu ones possible but plenty for me, it had French fried onions and campfire mayo but I swabbed that for regular mayo and had a side of BBQ sauce. For a small upcharge I got the sweet potato fries that come with this incredible poppyseed mayo. It is 9.99 if you order a regular side like steak fries and it comes with a drink like I mentioned and you can't get that at most fast food places. An incredible value. My son who was next to me got another meal like this but with a fried chicken patty and that one was 12.99. Such a good value. Of course Grandparents who live far away in town for a funeral love spoiling my kids so two of them had milkshakes. One was a peach one and it had whipped cream and candied peach rings and came out with a metal cup with the surplus just like at diners when I was a kid. She said, it could be peachier but was still good. Emma kept the sides and drinks coming. I would not have known that she was new. One thing about Red Robin is my son with special needs and anxiety feels comfortable and because fries come out very quickly the kids can get food and not be restless. One of the things my son loves is all the busy fun decor and at the time they had the tvs with Little League championships on and it tends to be loud but that means if my kids are loud no one is upset and the way out they get balloons if they want on sticks. The other thing that I enjoy at Red robin and noticed but didn't feel comfortable taking photos was the women's bathroom. The last stall door opens out, the toilet is close to one side and has 2 grab bars. It's not super roomy but so accessible to wheel chair users. They also have a short sink and many see it as for kids but it clicked today it is low to help persons with disabilities who might be in wheelchairs. I didn't have a wheelchair but it appeared that you get get under it or real close and wash hands. I hate stalls that open in and especially for someone who is handicapped. The hostess stand is always manned well and they do a great job there greeting customers and with take out orders based on not just this visit but multiple ones. The Chinese buffet and Red Robin and the Crystal restaurant downtown are the younger two favorite restaurants and Red Robin is just above and beyond for families and also I have come for my birthday with a friend fairly late in the evening to take advantage of my birthday burger offer and sat at the bar and ordered food and that was a good experience as well. I like they also have vegetarian options as one of our party is one and she ordered the veggie burger and they also I believe offer the impossible burger. I don't remember ever writing a yelp review before and this may seem long but again and again we get such good service and for a party of 7 the service tonight was too notch. We arrived between 4 and 5 and when busy I've waited a bit but I was so happy that everyone went home with full bellies and boxes of leftovers including sides that we didn't finish fully. I even got kids for my leftover poppyseed honey mustard condiment cups and a bag to put our boxes in. Obviously we like supporting local places when we can but Red Robin has so many positives and consistently good food quality and value and family friendly and for years since they opened we have continued to go there.
