Two people on staff for a dinner rush with a trainee cook. Took 45 minutes to get cold food and 15 minutes to get a drink refill, and they managed to forget half the pancakes on one of the meals which took another 15-20 minutes to get. Had breakfast here in Saturday morning before leaving town. The wait was not too long. Service was ok but the waitress seemed a bit rushed and did not like additional items added or substituted. The bacon was excellent and crisp as ordered, pancakes were very disappointing. They are tough and not flaky as advertised. I suspect they were over mixed. I have not been to an IHOP in ages and I was pleasantly surprised by this location. We went on a Sunday around 830am. We got a table quickly but by the time we left, it was very crowded with a long line. The inside has been updated and the seating was comfortable. I had the egg white veggie omelette, and subbed hash browns for fruit. The avocado was ripe and they have many condiments to choose. The breakfast sampler could use a little garnish though! Our server was great, very efficient and attentive. And the tip reflected such! The menu was extensive and I would like to try some of their other omelettes. Good job IHOP! read more

Well it's 9:05PM and the doors are locked and the staff is sitting down chatting, which I can see through the window. I'm confused because the hours listed is 10:00 P closed. Not sure if this is a common practice for this location but if you're going to lock doors at 9:05 PM please change the hours to reflect that. So, my daughter and I came here for breakfast. The waitress Madeline was low key unfriendly from the go. She acted like she didn't want us there from the beginning. We found a fly in one of our drinks. I understand these things happen so I wasn't too grossed out. Madeline offered a half-hearted apology, and went to get us new drinks. I asked her if she thought it necessary to change out the juice altogether or if she thought it safe, as I don't know their setup. She acted annoyed at my question and went to ask a coworker about it. I'm assuming that if I didn't ask, we'd have gotten another cup of fly soup... She brought the bill, but didn't even offer anything as compensation. I'd have been ok with something as simple as taking off an orange juice. I still left a tip, though I debated. Its been years since I've been to IHOP!! Couldn't wait for T Bone steak eggs and pancakes. Always was my favorite! Server came, put the plates down that were supposed to be identical. I said...we didnt order sirloin tips, we ordered T bone steaks. His reply...I heard sirloin tips. Everything look ok? I said no. We ordered T bone steaks. He said ok and walked away. Didn't offer to get us what we ordered, just walked away. My friend said the tips were ok, I thought they were seasoned strangely. I ate my eggs and toast and some pancake and couldnt manage to like the tips. Almost $17.00 for 2 eggs, 2 toast and 2 pancakes. The bill was around $41.23 and I gave the person at the register $42.00. When I stood there waiting for change she looked at me blankly and finally said...this is good! I said where is my change? Went in when it wasnt busy. 15 people there at most. Hostess didnt have menus at her area, cause they were plied at the P.O.S. station. Waited 10 minutes to have a waitress to take our drink order. We were ready to order our meal by that time. Another 5 minutes passed to finally get our drinks. 10 minutes later our food came. No cutlery, or napkins. Essentially bread came with my husband's breakfast (barely toasted) no butter, no jelly. No apologies. No smiles. Even though the waitstaff and cooks were having a good time together. Unbussed tables. Grimy surfaces (table, menus, especially floor). If you're in a rush, go somewhere else!!!! 2 stars, cause pancakes were good. The people next to us were having the same issues as us. We started to joke about what they would do with the lunch rush. Cooks having a screaming match in the kitchen while waiting for mozzarella sticks. Not fun. The hostess had to turn up the music (as if the entire restaurant didn't already hear them). Mozzarella sticks look good, but were so overdone, crunchy and salty. Same goes for my country fried steak. Very disappointed. Me and my sisters took our best friend here for her birthday. We've eaten here many times and it has never disappointed us! Our waitress was such a sweetheart and the food was amazing. We came around 11:00 and it was busy but not packed, the food was prepared pretty fast and we didn't have to wait very long to eat. We were seated right away and all of the staff were wonderful. If I were going to create a new omelet it would be this cheeseburger one with ground beef, mustard, ketchup, pickles and cheese..... make the cheese of a better quality and I would order it every time. As for the pancakes, why were they so tough and dry? If pancakes are supposed to be the signature dish it might be worthy of examining. Three pancakes on tiny plate also annoyed because of the way it hampered my ability to eat each with a different syrup. When I first walked in the waitress looked annoyed and not welcoming, but the guy cooking in the kitchen looked my way, smiled and greeted me. Can you give a Zero star review ??? Full disclosure I'm not an IHOP guy but this one really drives it home. The Restaurant was at probably 25 % capacity and it took at least 40 minutes to get our food, when it finally showed up it was bland and dry , I've never had an over cooked omelette before, check that one off the bucket list. Came here for dinner with my partner and kids for dinner. Had absolutely horrible service. McKenna was our server and she was very inattentive. I ran out of creamer for my coffee and never got any more. We had to flag her down and had to ask for refills on the waters on the table. When I got my meal of the turkey dinner I was sadly disappointed. The turkey was all cut up and in bits and pieces. The stuffing wasn't even showing I was given so little. The mash potatoes was about the size of a tablespoon and the corn was half of the plate. Asked for straws and waited for over 10 minutes and waited another 23 min after we finished eating for the check. Only reason I gave 2 stars was because my partners burger was good and the bathroom was clean. read more

If you enjoy rough, dry, flat pancakes that make you think "I want to hop to another restaurant", look no further! How does Denny's manage to make better pancakes than iHops? The pancakes here are hard and lumpy, and they didn't have any cool specialties like they do at Denny's. Kind of self defeating if iHops can't make good pancakes, I make better pancakes at home. I blame the management though, I've been to different iHops in MN and IL and they were much better. read more

Surprising Sub-Par Food, Unprofessional Staff and Horrible Service It was 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and my family thought it would be a nice idea to try the IHop in Wausau. Big, big mistake. The restaurant was at 30% capacity, so there was plenty of seats and plenty of staff. Our waitress was a preoccupied 20-something. She continuously hurried back to other preoccupied coworkers to compare texting notes or something. I asked for T-bone steak & eggs. She said she was not sure if there were steaks available. She said I will check, then goes 1/2 back to the kitchen and yells "Are there were more steaks were available?"...extremely unprofessional. We had to ask for utensils, napkins, cream & sugar. We gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was 1pm in the afternoon, but the sub-par service continued. My wife and I asked for coffee and were given (2) 6-oz cups and a carafe. The carafe was ¼ full. After emptying the carafe we asked for another one and this one was again ¼ filled as well. When we wanted to get refills for the kids sodas once again our waitress was huddled up with the other (4) 20-something waitress, doing everything but serving the other patrons. The entire time I had the feeling that she just wanted to go and "hangout" with her friends and that we were impeding on her time with her friends. The starting point for my tips is always 20% of the bill. Even if the food is sub-par, I tip based on customer service. The better the service the more I add, more issues with customer service I start subtracting. Not even halfway through the meal the waitress comes to the table with the bill; to me this is an absolute no-no. The table was not needed because the restaurant was now at 10% capacity at most. When looking at the bill I mentioned (so she could hear) that I will be going to yelp to write about this experience. Drink - Glasses were 95% ice; 5% juice Coffee - This was a joke. Carafes were only 25% full, cheaping out. Food - French toast was dry, hash browns were microwaved Overall - I expected much better quality from IHop We will never visit this IHop again. read more

That is it. Two times, and I am done. I have been in this place for breakfast two times recently. And I will never ever go back. There were 6 customers in the whole restaurant, and one guy already had his food. I waited 45 minutes for an omelette. There were what appeared to be three managers, one waitress, and whatever was in the kitchen. They spent the majority of the time talking about a juice contest, and free gift cards, and it took me 45 minutes for a garden omelette. I hope IHOP corporate is checking, it is a new restaurant, and needs help. I almost walked out. And I will never return. read more

I've eaten at IHop here in Wausau three times in the last 10 years and each experience was terrible. From dirty bathrooms to long wait times to the paranoid abundance of cameras EVERYWHERE, the experience was not inviting at all. But what gets me most is last time I went I figured I'd order pancakes, since that is their name sake, it's got to be good, right? WRONG! They were the most disgusting pancakes I have ever had. Small, hard, and dry. I mean honestly, I make better pancakes at home with the instant powder! They're pancakes for god sakes! How does the international house of PANCAKES screw up pancakes!?!?!?!? OK so I went to IHOP with my friend and we ordered food we asked for pancakes sausage bacon and toast so we got are stuff decently fast but they messed up though a toast for my friend So obviously they forgot it so we asked them again to make it and the cooks would just flirting and talking to each other instead of cooking the food so took like 30 minutes so we went up to get the reseat from the cashier and we asked for the reseats and he charge us for the toast that we did not get like we didn't get it so I'll be in charge but we didn't eat it and then all he said was $39 which isn't saying we barely got anything so far we are from the reseat and guess what it was only $29 and I still gave him a fake 4 dollars read more

Stopped here on a Monday. Waited to be seated. Cold pot of half carafe of coffee. Only two servers in the place. No one working the register. Waited too long for sever to come and check us out. The Management needs to have one person welcoming and working the register. Wait staff should never serve food and handle money. Just poor staffing. read more

This IHOP just recently opened in Rib Mountain a few months ago. Since opening I have eaten here twice. The first time was about 30 mins before they closed on a Tuesday. We asked the hostess if she was still taking tables since it was so close to closing time. The hostess was very pleasant, said it was no problem, sat us and then ended up being our server. She later told us she had let the waitress go early since it was slow and they were closing soon. We were the only table but soon after about 5 more tables walked in. I was extremely impressed with the fact she handled the whole dining room by herself and managed to give us excellent service. The food was really yummy. I had the french toast with eggs and canadian bacon (she was nice enough to let me substitute the regular bacon for canadian bacon. I LOVE the fact that they serve canadian bacon. I prefer it to regular bacon and it's hard to find breakfast places that still serve it, so I was excited to see it on the menu. All and all everything was spot on, the food and the service excellent. Second trip was on a Monday at 5pm. The dining room was pretty full and I was sad to see that the hostess who had served us so well last time was absent this time. The first thing I noticed when our server came to take our drink order is that she seemed to be new or in some kind of training. The reason I say this is because when I asked her if the iced tea was sweetened and she said "no". As she was saying this a server from behind her quickly chimed in that they do have raspberry sweetened tea. Every question the person dining with me asked her, she seemed to have to have this other server answer for her. I ended up trying to order the same thing I had the first time since I enjoyed it so much. But when I told her I wanted to substitue canadian bacon for the regular bacon she said they didn't have canadian bacon. Thinking she misunderstood something I said, I then told her it was okay to charge me extra, that I didn't expect the substitution for free. She then repeated to me that they don't have canadian bacon. Confused, I asked her if they were just out of canadian bacon or if they had taken it off the menu completely since I had had it the last time I was there? She just said once again that they didn't have it, so it was pretty clear that she was starting to get agitated with me, so I just dropped it and said fine to the regular bacon. She was obviously new and had no idea if they had it or not, or just didn't care to find out for me. The food came and both mine and the person I was dining with did not enjoy our meal. Both of our bacon was overdone/burnt to the point where it just crumbled into little bits on our plate so we didn't eat it. I almost wondered if she had the cooks do that on purpose just to spite me? Maybe I am just being paranoid but it just seemed like too wierd of a coincidence. My french toast was still mushy in the middle so I didn't eat much of it. Luckily the eggs were good otherwise I would've left hungry. When she came to pick up our plates she noticed the crumbled bacon on our plates and asked us how everything was (she never came during the meal to check on us). When I told her "everything was okay except for the bacon obviously", she said "yeah I can see that". So she acknowleged that the bacon was bad but didn't do a thing about it, didn't even offer to get us new bacon. After two completely opposite experiences I have come to the conclusion that this place probably falls into the catagory of "hit or miss". So I am giving it 3 stars in the hopes that my next experience will be a "hit". If it's not I will be sure to come back and update my star rating. read more

The place was as hot as corner in hell. The menus were new and they had the audacity to charge 11 for a lousy omelet and you had to pay extra for hash browns. Our food was brought and never checked on again until we were done eating. I would've liked to order an orange juice but by the time the waitress was back we were done eating.
