Two Tomatoes offers a great ambiance but do not care about their customers. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here, we reserved the room over two months in advance and picked our meal with set prices prior to the event. Two days before the event, the owner calls us and says the price of meat has gone up and we have to pay the difference even though prices were already set. They also told us we could not change our mind about the menu because they already bought the meat for our buffet, regardless of the price change. Additionally, they would not cooperate with us, they seem nice and concerning about food allergies and dietary restrictions on the phone, but when can down to the meal they didn't do anything and people in our party could not eat because of it, and we still had to pay for them... Continuing they skipped an entire course of our meal and argued with us when said we didn't receive it, all food came out lukewarm or cold. The buffet was family style and they said we could have as much as we want of a certain dish but when asked, they said they couldn't give us more. Then to top it all off it was karaoke night, and we endure that our entire dinner even though we were in a "private room". Please do not go here, it is not worth your time unless it's the last option, the owner even told us he could not help us in any way when we were very disappointed because by putting the customer-first he would have to close his doors. read more

among the better italian restaurants in the new castle area. it's a consistent favorite of mine and of my family. +1 for having some semblance of class (rare for the local area) +1 for above average red sauce (this is my gauge for how good an italian restaurant is) +1 for having an owner who is present often, if not always +1 for good atmosphere. +1 for above-average service (more professional than the local average) +1 for great salads, albeit a bit small. +1 for serving dishes made to order (not on the menu). my favorite dish here is the gnoccetelli sorrentina. recommended. i will return. my most recent experience was actually a 3-star experience: on mother's day (and other holidays, as i understand it), the menu selection is cut in half, and entrées are 50% more expensive. my proportions were smaller than usual, and my food wasn't as hot as i expect. aside from this one instance, i've only had 4-star experiences here. read more

I've known the owners for a very long time. I just had the chance to go back recently, and was blown away at how great their menu is! The wine selection was great, too! I had a chicken dish "caprese" style with pasta. I was SO full but I had to finish every last bite. Not customer fiendly. The owner is not professional, claims ignorance when attempting to correct a mistake on their part, over charges and is oddly condescending. The food has been good whether I get what I ordered or I get their choice of what I am going to eat. I will not give anymore money to a business that is this unprofessional. I live in Pittsburgh but every time I'm even near new castle my wife makes me stop here. I have to admit I fought hard to stay out of new castle having grown up there but this restaurant keeps me coming back. The service is above average and the food is amazing. I was pleased with the food here. The bread that was brought out seemed store bought and not fresh. My girlfriends dish was covered in an inch of olive oil and butter. The dish itself had good flavors. My dish was good, I'd probably order it again. The portions are large and everyone had left overs. Presentation was a bit shabby but the food made up for it. I was in town for a visit and went with friends to 2 Tomatoes for dinner. For a party of 8, we were seated quickly and the restaurant was rather busy for a week night. They had a good wine list and a varied menu. The décor is modern and clean. I had the chicken marsala, with alfredo pasta and it was great. The portion was large (leftover for lunch the next day!) and the chicken breasts were thick (not over pounded) and flavorful. I started with wedding soup, which was great. The service was a little slow, which is why I did not list it as five stars. Nothing horrible, but our waitress could have been more attentive. read more

Bruschetta not what I was expecting nor ever had made like they do. My daughters Stromboli was burnt on the bottom, extremely spicy with very little cheese. My spaghetti was not the best. Their sauce has something in it that is not that great. Then to top it off, the cook comes out and makes rude statements about a customer not liking the way he prepared their dessert?!! Are you kidding me??! I will be calling the manager on Tuesday and we will not go back. read more

Went there for lunch and got the Italian cheese steak sandwich. I asked the waiter if I could replace the chips with fries and he said they do not do that. The steak sandwich came with chips and macaroni salad. I told the waiter to give me a side of fries and I'd pay the $2 for them. When I received my sandwich I was first astonished how tiny it was for about $9, seriously, I'm guessing it was a 3 inch sub..then I seen about 6-10 French fries in my plate, it was actually comical.. then I sat there and thought, where's my chips and macaroni salad? I figured maybe out of courtesy they swapped the chips and macaroni salad with fries.. I get my tab and its $11. I asked the waiter (who was very annoyed btw) why i didn't get my macaroni salad and chips. He stated to me "because you got fries". I said "so let me get this straight.. my $9 3inch sub comes with chips and macaroni doesn't it?" The waiter said "yes" I said " you refused to swap those out with fries, so I paid an addition $2 for fries as a side right?" the waiter said "yes" I said "so I'm to get macaroni salad and chips along with my side of fries, right?" the waiter says "well we really don't give you chips and macaroni when you order fries". I'm at a loss for words here.. so I got the menu, fries are clearly listed as a side for $2..so basically they want to steal from their customers. They won't swap out sides but they'll sure the hell charge you for a side and take other sides away that you already paid for. Be careful! Also the sandwich SUCKED!! if you look at my review history it's pretty much all positive, this was a terrible experience and I truly felt ripped off. read more

The service in this restaurant is unprofessional. I was eating dinner with friends and our drink orders were not correct. When we asked for it to be corrected, the bartender argued with us and said that we had ordered the drinks that were served. ??? After waiting over 30 minutes for new drinks, we were finally given the correct items. I sat and listened to the bartender and two servers talk about us and other customers. Then, she charged us for the drinks we sent back and the drinks we ordered. When I spoke to the manager about it, she said, "Oh ok. I'll talk to them." I told her I won't be returning to the restaurant and she said, "Oh ok." It's a shame because their food is decent. I'll never return. read more

My husband and I have been to this establishment before. Although I'd say the service was never anything to brag about the food is what lead us to bring our family here. We were looking forward to celebrating our son's accomplishments with our family. We made a reservation although it wasn't needed because there was plenty of open tables for 7 people. If I'd known how poorly our service was going to be on such a grand occasion I would have walked us all over to Gallos across the street. Where should i begin...I think the worst part was our waitresses attitude. We all felt like we were an inconvenience. Absolutely disrespectful! Our drinks were empty. We all had water and unsweetened ice teas so im not sure why refilling them was so difficult... oh but wait...she did bring sweet tea and when asked to bring unsweetened tea she argued that we were drinking unsweetened tea! What ever happened to the customer always being correct? It was a very unpleasant experience. My first Italian meal without bread I might add. Needless to say our food once again was delicious but unfortunately we will not be returning as our money will be spent in an establishment that appreciates our business by serving us with a smile! read more

Our first time there but went with others who go there alot. Found nothing negative at all, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. There was seven of us and six different meals. All were very good. Our waitress Leandra couldn't have been better. Very friendly and pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. My husband and I hadn't eaten here in several years and decided to take out of town guests here. Very nice atmosphere, good drinks, good service and very good food. Why did it take us so long to realize what a gem this place is? I'm so glad we didn't drive 45 minutes to go to Bravo in Cranberry. In February of this year we had a bereavement dinner for 55 family members. The food was excellent,the service was very good and we were treated very well. Some minor compliants but that was mostly because of personal preferences. We are attending again with family today ( 8/19/2012 ). This review is for Nino's Two Tomatoes new location on Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105. He just opened two or three weeks ago in his new building. Last night a group of six of us decided to go to Nino's Two Tomatoes for our Friday night outing. The building is well appointed, had a warm feeling and we were very excited for this establishment to be in our neighborhood. We had called early in the day for a reservation but were told reservations were only made for parties of 8 or more persons. As we were only 6 we said okay knowing it would be a wait. Upon entering I gave my name and was told it would be a twenty minute wait. There were no seats in the bar so we stood in the entry as did many, many others. It was very cold each time the door opened and we noticed the narrow area adjacent to this area had tables but they were not using the first one as it was so crowded and it was also a very "cold area" for anyone to enjoy a dinner. We waited, and waited, and waited, 40 - 50 minutes. There was an empty table set up just inside the dining area for 8 persons. After inquiring how much longer it would be I was told "You are next." One of the gentlemen in our party said he thought the above mentioned table must be ours as the waitress placed 6 menus on the table. About 5 minutes later a party of six came in, approached the hostess and they were greeted with much ado, hugs and kisses and immediately taken to the table for six I just mentioned. Then another party of four came in and were immediately ushered in to the dining rooms with more hugs and greetings. I went over to the hostess and asked what just happened? She said they had "reservations for a long time ago prior to the move to this location," and they were "ESTABLISHED" customers. I told her this was not very nice and if they wanted to build a new clientele in OUR neighborhood everyone should be treated fairly. She told me to not talk so loud?????? and to quit using my hands to talk. Another girl chimed in and then another and they were very threatening and rude to me. They then set up the table in the cold hallway by the podium and said we could sit there or did we want to leave.? We were very shocked to be treated so badly. She then asked if we were staying or did we want to leave. I decided she wanted us to leave so we stayed. Funny thing, I was not talking loudly, only at a tone to be heard over all the other noisy customers...oh, and did I mention they were ALL talking with their hands but they did not warn anyone else to quit talking with their hands. It was the most despicable treatment I have ever had anywhere. Anyone who knows me knows I am never rude to anyone but I do not like to be treated like a second class citizen or patron. I will never return, nor will my friends and thought I might just share this HUMILIATING experience to spare you this kind of treatment. No one even attempted to make any apologies. My wife and I decided to come here. We have been here a lot since the opening. Spent a lot of money here. The food is normaly great! Tonight we came to enjoy a meal and the penguins game, and sat in a booth in the bar area. Half way through our meal and the second period of the game a few men came and sat at the left end of the bar and asked if the cowboys game could be put on. The owner said absolutely! A few minutes later the game I was watching was changed to the fooball game they requested at the other end of the bar...my wife politely asked if the game could be switched to the pens games. The bar tender said "what you cant see it on the tv behind you?" And then proceed to ask the men sitting at the bar if she could change the tv....at the other side of the, one in which wasnt even in front and or view of them, if she could change it back....then proceeded to ignore my wife and I. I feel as if the money I spent on a multiple course meal is not of the same value of the two men drinking a beer at the bar. So I will take it that way and wont be spending any more of my money or time to be ignored! read more

Had the absolute worst dining experience ever!! This used to be my favorite restaurant in New Castle. We went in one night with a group of 6. We all ordered drinks, appetizers and meals. When the food came, there was a big hair in mine. I used to work in restaurants, so I understand that this can happen and this didn't bother me, I just told the waitress about it without making a scene. She came back a minute later holding the dish and said "the chef said to tell you that he's bald so the hair can't be his" and gave me back the plate. The poor waitress looked so embarassed to have to say that. At this point, I asked to see the manager and she said "the chef that said that is the owner." I was completely appalled that a business owner would act like that. I offered to pay for my meal, but refused to eat it. The owner's wife came out and tried to apologize but the damage was done. I cannot understand why anyone would act like that. It's a shame because I really did used to enjoy going there, but will never go again. I just feel like in these tough economic times, there are more gracious business owners that deserve our patronage, so I'm trying to spread the word! read more
