Soni's, I discovered on my first visit there with the Wife for lunch, is pretty much always busy for a very good reason. The food is made, just, exactly, right. I got veal piccata over angel hair. It was great. (no bread brought to table, which wasn't the kitchen's fault) The caper sauce was very good. I like veal piccata every now and then when I go out for Italian. It's really more of a fusion dish from the 1300's, when Italy (which didn't exist yet) was on all trade routes. Veal piccata pre-dates the intro of tomatoes to Europe by a few hundred years, it's really a culinary window back in time, Italian food-wise. Anyways, loved the veal piccata. Linda got a burger with fries. In the future, I'm thinking I'm getting anything at Soni's that comes with French fries. Soni's fries were so much better than any fries I have ever gotten, anywhere, that other than just saying, "the fries were the crunchiest, crispiest, internal texture bestest, that I have eaten in my life French fries!", anything more is futile. I CANNOT tell you how great these fries were. IANK! (I am not kidding) Overall, I will be back at Soni's sooner rather than later. I want to try the artichoke dip for one thing. And the interior of Soni's is beautiful. They don't rush you. The waitress really was great, just overall, a place to "...sit back and enjoy a long, slow, Italian lunch." if I could give this place zero stars, I would. With the exception of the flatbread pizza, the quality of most of the appetizers on their menu or absolutely pitiful for instance, the fried greens. When I ordered the fried greens, I specifically asked the waitress if they are made fresh on the spot when I them and she promised me that they were....... I told her if they are not fresh I do not want to order them and she insured me are fresh fried greens, which is fried escarole with peppers and onions and garlic and oil along with sausage that is crumbled..... and I was brought a plate of what looked like chopped up spinach that somebody just vomited it onto a plate. I did not eat them, and when I asked the waitress to take them from my table and told her that they were beyond pitiful, and that I would like them removed from my she sent over a manager to my table. In front of my wife and my 10-year-old son along with a fully packed restaurant full of guests the 500 pound manager with stains all over his shirt told me that the greens were fresh. He clearly was trying to insult my intelligence and told me that since I did not like them and I did not eat them that he would take 10% off of the price of the appetizers which if I'm not mistaken equated to about $1.20. When I did not eat them or even try them because of the way they insisted that I had to pay for . At this point, everybody in the restaurant is looking at me and my family at the table as I pleaded a case that in a restaurant if a customer does not like what they have been served and if they do not eat it, then they do not pay for it. This manager refused to remove it from my bill. When I told him one more time that I was not gonna pay for them, he then threatened to call the police. My wife and my son and I then at this point being totally embarrassed in front of dozens of people through cash on the table and we did not finish our meal we got up and we left. I contacted the of this restaurant, Mr. SANSONE. I LEFT A MESSAGE AND EXPLAINED BRIEFLY WHAT HAPPENED AND I WAS NEVER CONTACTED AND NEVER DID CALL ME OR MAKE A RESPONSE EFFORT WHATSOEVER.. I have friends and family who have had similar experiences, just like mine at this place. The worst part is this place is always don't care about the customers that they treat like garbage. Great local spot in new castle! Clearly a local favorite since we went at 5pm and the lot was full! It's my grandma's favorite so that's why we ended up here. Friendly servers and hosts; very efficient for having so many tables. Service was quick. Ordered a "deluxe" small pizza (10") on which you choose 4 toppings - only $10!! I got banana peppers, pepperoni, mushrooms and eggplant. Very good and the perfect size for one serving. Others in my party ordered the sausage calzone and the ravioli and meatballs. Great bread for the table that came with amazing garlic butter. Our dinner entrees were under $13, which is not what I'm used to living in Pittsburgh. Not Wheelchair welcome!!! I will never go back and I never made it inside. There's a first. I'm sure the food is great I wouldn't know. Unfortunately I couldn't get a wheelchair from the parking lot in the door. Somebody was parked in between the 2 handicap spot blocking the only accessible ramp. Which wasn't the fault of the restaraunt but asking them to have someone move was like how dare I. The front door was completely blocked by a planter and benches that didn't allow a wheelchair access. Their solution to go around the corner and use the delivery door. No thanks, when places work so hard to make you feel this unwanted the solution is simple. Go somewhere else. If you are in or helping someone with a motorized wheelchair like I have DO NOT go there, they do not want you. What a cruel and evil set of people. I'd be ashamed if I was the owner! read more

The service here was great with wonderful atmosphere that bravely (and thankfully) plays Christen music. We had the cheesy bread sticks as our app and it was tasty. I had the Tuscan Flatbread which was good. The flatbreads are all great. Wife had the Italian trio because she loves the cavatelli and Alfredo sauce. I love this place and these people but the "chicken Parmesan" is an embarrassment to all things Italian. Two chicken tenders from Sam's club, or equivalent, with a slice of packaged precut cheese. We stopped there when we were in the area for work. Our waitress was very attentive, able to offer recommendations, and was friendly. My friend- loved her soup and had the beef hoagie- which she thought was good. It was big enough she had enough to take 1/2 home for dinner. I had a meatball sandwich. The wine was local, delicious and went perfect with dinner. The coffee was fresh and paired perfectly with dessert. First the good, the sambucca pasta is to die for, it's a high recommend whenever I bring someone to Soni's. Then there's the pizza, which is quite delicious compared to other places in town that seem to rest on their pizza-centered names rather than actually improve their mediocre recipes and products. Their pierogi pizza especially is the absolute best you can find. Now the bad, NO alcohol, not even wines! It absolutely blows my mind that an Italian restaurant can forego a liquor license. You're just leaving money at the table at that point, a good wine and a fine pasta go hand in hand and BYOB is just not going to cut it. So if you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or have a romantic evening with your loved one, unless you would like to spend your dinner stone cold sober Soni's is probably not the place for you! read more

The food at Soni's has never failed! I have tried their Italian egg rolls, chicken salad w/homemade house dressing, and an Italian dish with an Alfredo sauce with chicken, greens, and roasted red tomatoes. All of these items are fantastic! Oh yes, and their Buffalo Chicken pizza is outstanding as well! Not only is their food menu expansive, but their dessert menu is as well. This is a terrific place to go for Italian food. My wife had a delicious pizza; I know because I tried a half slice. I had a bowl of sausage asiago (it was on special, usually chicken asiago). It was simply delicious, loaded with sausage, tomatoes, spinach, 'shrooms, over fettuccine (my choice) with a creamy asiago sauce. I will get this again. We're now waiting desert. Terrible Customer Service!!! I ordered a $55 party tray for Xmas eve from these folks. Tray was to contain 3 kinds of rolls (pepperoni, pizza greens and sausage rolls) and flatbread. Got home and served it to 10 guests on Xmas even and as soon as some the rolls where taken off the tray, I noticed there was no pepperoni rolls. When I called on Dec. 27th to complain about the omission, the owner of the store basically called me a liar saying that she made all the trays herself and that there was absolutely no way that any tray would have left the restaurant without pepperoni rolls. I, of course, know for certain that at least one did because it was on my countertop on Christmas Eve. I even sent her a photo of a tray that clearly had no pepperoni rolls on it. And she actually said that the pepperoni rolls would have been under the flatbread that was shown in the photo. As if I wouldn't have recognized a pepperoni roll---had it been on my tray! Are you kidding me??? I drive 15 miles to this place for these trays every year. I also have ordered countless eggplant pizzas from them at $17 each, when there are plenty of pizza places within a couple of miles. When I pointed this out the owner, her comment was, "there are plenty of pizza places everywhere." I am shocked that a business OWNER handled this issue so poorly. Instead of considering even the remote possibility that she was capable of making a mistake (like every other human being on the planet), she chose, instead, to basically accuse a good customer (or ex-customer now) of being a liar. For what purpose? Who would call a restaurant and just make up a complaint? read more
