I wish I could give more stars. We had a surprise Birthday Party here for my FIL. I spoke to Leandra and met with Robin. Both were so incredibly kind and helpful. Especially after me changing some things. The space was perfect for the amount of ppl we had. The food. EXCELLENT!!!!! We went with the Pizza Buffet. Assorted pizzas, spinach and artichoke dip, antipasto and bruschetta bread. Everyone raved about the food and just the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I had eaten here prior to us having the party and the food was just so good. And the girls they had working the buffet area as well as the bartender were amazing!!!! Sadly, I feel like it's done downhill since it's turn to "Four." Prices have gone up slightly and the portions are just getting smaller. I have only enjoyed II Tomatoes via take out but we have always enjoyed the food (especially when we have people over and I don't have to slave over the stove. Their Chicken Caprese, Chicken Marsala, Lasagna and their pasta dishes are delicious. Once they forgot an item for my order. Since I didn't want to go back, they advised they would note it in some magical book and when I ordered next time they would credit me for it (or give me my choice of item). Took my 94 year old Aunt there for a birthday lunch who's favorite is Chicken Marsala - found out they don't serve it till 4pm. Requested our waitress to check with the kitchen since it was a special occasion, low & behold they had started the grill early & my Aunt got her favorite. I walked in the takeout door to a HALLWAY of refrigerated takeout alcohol. I ordered the wedding soup, caprese salad, and a spinach calzone. The caprese salad was spring greens, tomatoes, olives, and mozzarella balls with a balsamic dressing. They were generous with the Italian bread to sop up the dressing. The calzone dough was very light allowing the ingredients to center stage ... very good. I walked around the restaurant while I waited for my takeout. Very interesting architecture... a door is the base of the lights at the takeout station. Lots of barn wood. A lot of attention to details. This establishment could easy have private parties. We were visiting family who live in the area and ordered II Tomato. The online menu was a tad difficult to navigate - why the random beer list between food items? Out of total frustration, I settled on the margarita pizza and I was so thankful that I did! It was absolutely delicious. It was wood fired so there were some charred spots, but this is the first margarita pizza I've gotten locally that has proper cheese ratios. Most places are incredibly stingy with the cheese, this was perfect. I also loved that it wasn't greasy in any way shape or form. The pizza sauce was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The kids all got spaghetti and meatballs and I have to admit, I was eyeing it up the entire time because it just looked so good. My dad got the meatball and spaghetti stuffed calzone (mostly because I wanted to see this thing in person) and he said it was awesome. The rest of the party got various chicken dishes and everyone was beyond satisfied with their meal. We got fried zucchini and cheese balls as an appetizer too which were equally impressive. The star of all of the dishes was definitely the marinara. It was fresh, light and full of flavor which was perfectly balanced. I look forward to getting this again next time we visit! read more

We attended a 90th birthday party for my husbands grandmother here last night and, boy were we impressed! My husbands family lives here in New Castle and frequent this restaurant. One of the owners, Robin, so friendly and personable, met us at the door and took us in to the surprise party behind a curtain. Grandma was so surprised and pleased! There was plenty of room and they had allowed the family to set up the decorations/cake 1/2 hour before they even opened. The place was so clean and the staff were very conscientious with taking precautions. The servers were truly wonderful and made us very comfortable. The food was so Good! The thin crust pizza, artichoke dip, roasted peppers, and bruschetta were delicious and there was plenty of everything. They cut and served the cake as well. Everyone was very happy! read more

This restaurant is no longer IITomato, it's now a place called Four. It's supposed to be run by the same family, but they have chopped the menu in 1/2. My husband and I stopped for dinner one evening last week and no one even mentioned that it had changed hands. The food was NOT as good and the help seemed to care less if you were happy or not. Although this was one of our favorite restaurants for summer dining, due to their beautiful outside seating, without the food it's just another restaurant, with a nice porch. We will try once more if quality does not improve we will have to find a new italian restaurant. read more

This was my first time at 2 Tomato. I had the Caprese salad and the Chicken & Shrimp Romano. The Caprese salad was a bit different that I am used to, but it was delicious. The same can be said about my entree. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The portions are quite large and the prices were reasonable. My server was attentive and prompt. ...tried this place 3 times and didn't enjoy it either time. After the last time I won't go back again. Plus I have some friend that were treated incredibly rude by them. If you ordered a filet mignonette ordered medium...would you expect it to come out butterflied in 3 thin cuts instead of one thick piece? Well, without any kind of warning they ruined the cut of meat and then expected (demanded) payment for this. They said it looked like an old shoe sole that was falling apart. Most restaurants would try to at least offer a gift card, knock it off the check, offer it to be replaced with another entree or something else...not here they threaten police involvement/law suits if payment for a terrible cooked meal is not made. read more

Visited on a Friday night. Parking lot was packed but there was plenty of seating available inside. This was my first visit. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant was very clean and modern inside. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. Our food was served at a very comfortable pace. New Castle Pa was a stopover on our way home from vacation. We checked in to our hotel around Dinner time. We had never been to New Castle, the only restaurants near our hotel were the usual chains, nothing appealing. A Yelp search later, we called for reservations. We set the GPS and headed out. First the negative. As we drove down the street that the restaurant is on we almost turned back. It took us through a pretty run down part of town. We chose to continue and things improved to the point that we had no concerns. We were welcomed warmly and sincerely by the hostess. She determined that we were from out of town. Our waitress (Breeze?) was quite young. I wasn't expecting much in terms of service. We were very pleasantly surprised, she was very friendly yet professional. My wife had the flights of wine, something that we don't get in Canada. She loved it. We had the Caprese Tower and the Antipasto as appetizers. Both were excellent. My wife chose the Penne with Vodka sauce, I had the Filet with Hot Peppers on Gnochetelli. Mine was very good, the steak was beautifully cooked. I tried some of my wife's and it was outstanding. Our little guy enjoyed his spaghetti and Meatball. The Hostess came over to ask how everything was. My wife, who is usually quite reserved, raved about her meal. The hostess, who I am pretty sure was one of the owners, was very appreciative and said that they are very proud of their recipes and strive to make almost everything from Scratch. My wife is already planning a girl's weekend to nearby Grove City for some 'Retail Therapy so that she can get back to 2 Tomato. read more

Five of us walked in prime time last Sat. night. They were busy and the pleasant hostess asked if we had reservations. Nope, but she said she could take care of us shortly. 5 minutes later we were at a nice round table with appetizers and drinks ordered. Our waitress was equally pleasant (all staff were wearing Steeler jerseys) and efficiently took our orders. Food came in an orderly and well paced fashion. Mediterranean salmon was beautifully presented and delicious. My veal parm was real and real good. The others had pasta offerings and we all took something home. I had the filet and scampi, both of which were good - neither of which was amazing. My wife had pasta which I actually found to be a little less inspiring than the beef. Seems we had lingered a bit too long at a table that was booked for a second sitting, and the hostess (owner?) offered us a spot in the bar and a free drink if we were willing to relocate. We vacated and turned down what I thought to be a generous offer and a pretty classy way to solve a problem. Wasn't quite ready to leave, but appreciated the counter offer. Would go again if I were in the area as the options seem limited, but it makes me glad I live in a region with a few more choices! read more

My husband and I went here recently with a group of friends. We go out together every week. Some places are regular standbys and sometimes we try new (to us) places. Nice atmosphere. Good menu choices. I had the stuffed eggplant which was different than any other I'd ever eaten but delicious. My husband, a professional pizza eater (lived in Italy for several years and has traveled there for 30+ years) loved the pizza. Others in the party had various beef, chicken and pasta entrees and were very pleased. Very good red sauce. We will go back for a second visit. The service was generally excellent with two exceptions: Some entrees were served too soon when the salads were only half finished......and three of the entrees did not come out until between five and ten minutes after the others. read more

2 Tomato has always been one of my favorite Italian restaurants in New Castle. My family and I have been coming to 2 Tomato way back when they were on south mill street. The new location is really beautiful and they really have added some nice features. The outdoor patio is a big hit with plenty of space, a bar and a DJ on the weekends. They also added a six packs to go store that you can enter through the front of the building. The interior amazes me every time I come here. There is something about a rustic atmosphere that makes me feel so cozy. There is a giant white brick fire place that stands in the middle of the restaurant, barn wood that covers the walls, and unique light fixtures. It's really spacious inside and can fit a lot of people. If you are looking for a place to host your next party, look no further! The bar and lounge area is also really incredible with plenty of bar stoles, booths and cocktail tables. Onto the food! I have tried many of dishes here and let me get into some that I would recommend. The Cavatelli Sorentino (the dough and sauce is amazing) let's not forget the fresh mozzarella thrown into this BiG bowl of pasta, so good! The Chicken Milanese (breaded) with some greens, fontina cheese and artichoke hearts to top it off and a nice side of Cavatelli. The Chicken Marsala that comes with Fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken pieces you get a very very large and I always end up with left overs. Oh and I cannot forget their salads the grilled chicken, lamb and steak salads are all incredible and come with some delicious toppings (those Rosemary fries)!!!! If you want yummy dessert get the pizza fritta! It's basically like eating a funnel cake with chocolate/raspberry syrup, powdered sugar and whipped creme. The reason I am giving 2 Tomato 4 instead of 5 stars is due to inconsistency. Like I said I have been coming here for years and sometimes my meal does fall short of tasting like it did the visit before. I have had more good than bad experiences here and that is why I continue to come back! read more

This is one of the best having been to the old location several times before the move north. Friendly staff and owners. Our most recent visit proved proved that beyond just good it was outstanding!! Derek the youngest chef in the kitchen prepared the chicken Vincenzo with flare and grace. A full bar awaits those so inclined and a side entrance allows takeout and beer to go. If you are a local, stop by for a delicious wonderful experience from start to finish. A must for of out of towners too. You will not regret. read more
