With my odd size vanity requirement, they were able to quickly offer a 3 cabinet solution that covered my needs. They will also suggest a couple countertop places to shop for and ordering via Excelle gets you a 10% discount. I visited the shop multiple times and happy to report that the experience has been consistently pleasant. This was not a $20k or 30k job - it was much bigger. So we had to be absolutely sure of the craftsmanship, the customer service, and more. It had to be fully custom and absolutely world class quality to fit the quality of the home and kitchen remodel. Summary - they delivered beyond my absurdly high expectations. From the very start, my designer had a good feeling about Mike - he was very upfront and transparent, and his whole team was full of nice people. Shelly is very responsive and helpful even with the basic things - you can tell right away they care a lot about attention to detail and to customer service. We hired Mike over 5 others we considered, and he was the most expensive bid actually (not by too much, by about 5% more than the 2nd highest and about 10% more than the lowest). Hiring Dickinson Cabinetry proved to be one of the very best decisions we made in our 1 year long remodel. In the middle of supply chain issues and Covid, Mike was always honest about the timeline. It was a bit longer than I would have liked but that was no fault of Mike's - everything was delayed. But Mike was honest and helpful and level headed about it all. Then came the product and install date. Mike's team, led by Raul, came by for delivery right on time in the morning and let me just tell you - the QUALITY of these cabinets and the wood island is absolutely obvious. The craftsmanship is superb. If you know nothing about cabinets, even then it's obvious. That's the great thing about great things - everyone can tell it's great! Now here is where it starts to get really amazing. We had a few issues and changes requested. Joe was the man here - he was super helpful along with being such a nice guy. He must have come back 4 times - each time with a smile on his face and endless patience to get it perfect as I wanted it. Antonio did a great job fixing up every little nook and cranny I needed help with - just an awesome job. Some other cabinet makers might make nice cabinets. The Hyatt has nice hotel rooms, too. Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly - they are like the Four Seasons. Every little detail is world class. The most important space in our home deserved an expert -- and that was Mike. During the peak of COVID, I spoke with other kitchen installers including IKEA's recommended contractor, Traemund, but I was always disappointed. Some claimed to do custom work but didn't understand the product. Others knew everything about IKEA kitchens, but wouldn't work with me to hide a stackable washer and dryer inside a closed pantry. Mike was the only service provider willing to be creative and while sticking to IKEA's installation guidelines. From our first phone call, Mike clearly explained his policies and each of our responsibilities. He saved me time by revising my order to include unknown items that would have caused me to make several trips to IKEA. He was also flexible with my installation date considering IKEA's inventory issues at the time. When I finally received all my cabinets, Mike came to my home, setup designated work areas and began working fast! He was always punctual, responsive, and excellent at communicating what to expect. I'm used to contractors leaving to get supplies and tools in the middle of the day, but he always had everything he needed. And even though I left him alone to focus, we shared several jokes in passing that made the project enjoyable. Despite COVID setbacks, my experience was incredibly smooth. Mike was great! My boyfriend and I bought a dresser off of CB2 and could not figure out for the life of us why it wasn't fitting together properly. We also had two wall-mounted shelves and four pictures that needed hanging around the house. I struggled to find a furniture assembly service on the peninsula, so I was worried that having someone come over from the East Bay was going to be costly. I sent an email to Mike on a Sunday afternoon (fully expecting not to hear back until Monday at the earliest). He got back to me within 15 mins, and he was able to come over that night! The cost was extremely affordable and Mike was done with the whole job in about an hour (which included him having to take apart the dresser and reassemble it because I had put the glides on backwards...whoops). He had to do some unexpected extra work, and his added charges were modest and more than reasonable. We're extremely happy that we didn't use the services of someone who gave us a somewhat lower bid. We realize that they might well have made a mess of our kitchen cabinet layout (Ikea's measurement and design services that tweaked our pretty good to begin with design, had a number of modest but very significant problems--and Mike was able to notice these and figure out ways to make corrections efficiently, quickly and very effectively). Michael did a terrible job of installing a kitchen for my clients. I had to rebuild the back of the kitchen sink cabinet because, Michael cut 3" holes for the 1/2" water pipes, cut two holes because he missed with his first one on the 1 1/2" drain line and missed on both electrical boxes. When questioned on this he said it didn't matter and no-one ever complained. Well I'm complaining and warning people not to expect quality work from ikea builders. It's exactly the kitchen I envisioned...light, clean, and complimentary to our early 1960's home. He gave us a couple of options for cabinet finishes with detailed quotes and helped us select an option within our budget. He's busy and couldn't start for 3 or 4 weeks which gave us time to select and order a new countertop/backsplash, sink, faucet, and hardware. His countertop subcontractor did an excellent cutting and installation job too. John's crew worked M-Th which gave us enough downtime during the construction that lasted about 3 weeks. He used the same two guys throughout the project. Ed and Mynor showed up on time everyday and were hardworking and neat. He gave us paint to match the cabinets and we painted the interiors to exactly match the Thermofoil wrapped doors and frames. After 20 years as a construction manager at K-12 schools, I can honestly say John is one of the best contractors I've worked with. He routinely texted and called and kept us informed of issues and solutions as they came up. Even while he was out of the country on a planned family vacation in the middle of our project! We recommend Bay Area Refacing 100%.

He was great to work with throughout the whole process; some highlights: * Attention to Detail - Kay made sure we were happy with every detail of the build before moving on from design. He went back and forth with us and generated new renders for even minor changes to make sure we were 100% happy. * Moved Fast - Kay was always extremely responsive over email and when he needed to come by in person he would often come by the same day (and was very generous in the windows of availability he gave us). * Quality Sub-Contractors - All the sub-contractors Kay involved, from installation to painting, were as great to work with as he was. * Accommodated Our Asks - We had a few non-standard asks in the design but Kay went above and beyond to accommodate them. Ian was very responsive and easy to work with. We had two sets of bathroom cabinets that had…read morediscolored with age. They were 25 year old custom cabinets so the cases were good but we asked Ian to redo all the drawer boxes to make them soft close. Everything was accurate and quality materials. We restained one bathroom and Ian did a great job of creating a color that worked with the existing flooring. He brought samples and was willing to tweak to get it just right. We couldn't get a stain color either of us liked for the primary bath, so he made all new fronts in addition to the drawer boxes. We had a new walnut kitchen and he selected a very nice walnut sheet and grain matched everything. I wanted flush mount tab hardware that had to be routed in which isn't simple, but it worked perfectly. He did several rounds of varnish so we could get the color to match the kitchen. Throughout the entire process isn't was flexible and committed to doing everything right. The installation was easy--they came and removed all the fronts and drawers and after the work was completed, they sanded and stained the cases and installed the cabinet doors and drawers. One door was a little off kilter and Ian returned quickly to adjust it. His installation team was very good and careful about masking off the mirrors, counter, and floor so everything was protected and they cleaned up when done. Overall a really top notch job (we had a referral from a neighbor whose refinished cabinets were beautifully done by Ian and his team) and I would highly recommend their work and would absolutely hire them again for another job.
