The ordering process at Demetra Cabinetry is smooth, but their production, delivery, and customer service are unacceptable. We placed a full kitchen cabinet order on April 24th for a June 15th delivery. We are still missing upper doors and shelves. Every update we get is a moving goalpost (first told they shipped 7/20, now told next week). As many other reviewers have noted, they completely stop replying to emails once they have your money. When we complained, we were told it's a "production issue," and they couldn't help us. A business is responsible for a project until it is fully delivered. They responded quickly and had their team come take a look. We found out that the ownership had changed and the new owner really cares about the business and takes care of the old clients. Sneha was outstanding in patiently generating the design, updating the number of iterations we had, and being super detail-oriented, which is needed for a job like this. They were able to include features like garage doors that come down to the counter, pull-ups, a semi-custom island (I sourced the legs separately but they helped with the design. I worked with Sneha and she is amazing. Due to the long permit process time, we have discussed about the design like 6+ months. Status updates: This is what I got from the COO of the demetra who kept asking me to remove the negative review since she took over the case 3 weeks ago. If Demetra thinks you've already provided the supreme services and top quality products, and now you would like to flip flop the previous arrangement, you are totally free to do so. Besides, living with a defective front panel and the gap of 2.5cm between the oven and bottom of the top cabinet would not be our end of world. The review here is just to help the readers and prospective shoppers in bay area to find a local business with its moral. As a customer, we just don't have such time and energies to answer your calls, message, and emails a couple times a day or spent time to write a negative reviews if our reasonable expectations have been met. UPDATE May 16, 2024: Revised to 5 stars with clarification below. Zoe, the Operations Manager at Demetra, reached out to me and we began a dialogue on how things could have been done better. Zoe described various improvements Demetra will implement in their pricing/proofing processes, to help reduce errors, and to improve transparency and communication regarding customization and setup charges. I appreciate their follow up and working with me to make things right and striving for customer satisfaction. ---------------- Our designer helped us understand the various products and features with cabinets. We went extensively into details and selected specific options for our layout, confirming the visual design with approving a 3D rendered image showing our target design and signing our order contract. After approving the final quote, I was surprised to see the actual amount due was ~$1000 more than the quoted and SIGNED amount. When asked for clarification, there were some fees that were not included after the fact. This was disappointing and it didn't feel transparent or straightforward. What is the use of signing a quote and purchase order if the purchase amount is changed without any notice or clarification? We received most of the cabinets and drawers, with a few items that were backordered for an additional 2.5 weeks. After installing the cabinets and drawers, I noticed one drawer had the handle on the wrong edge. I looked at the signed-off renderings in the order package and the rendering showed the drawer as we designed and intended, but the actual drawer front we received was incorrect. I contacted the designer and was informed that their standard drawer front is made a certain way, and my drawer front was a custom part. I remember specifically going over this design feature in person, and it reflects as such in our final drawing package rendering. But for whatever reason, we received a standard drawer front. So I had to order and pay for an additional drawer front. This felt deceptive, being shown one thing but receiving something different. Perhaps it was an innocent clerical error, but this error should have been absorbed by Demetra, as it was through no fault of our own. I appreciated her help and time at the beginning of the project, and her help with laying out our kitchen. I just wish for more transparency, not having cost amounts changed behind the scenes, or after signing a contract, and wished for better customer support when errors were made. The cabinets look great, but I would urge some care when handling the syma handles. It appears they snap onto posts and then hot glued in place, and we inadvertently detached a syma handle from a cabinet door. On another note, when I visited the production warehouse to pickup my backordered items, they were helpful and replaced my standard drawer front with the newly ordered, correct design drawer front. I didn't catch his name, but he was super helpful and I appreciated his help. In case Demetra management is reading this, I would recommend taking that mindset and willingness to provide customer support and try to encourage that in other aspects of the business, in sales, and after-sales support. Providing support and not nickel and dime-ing for every little fee or administrative error would go a long way in establishing long term repeat business. read more

Demetra cabinets were the exact style that we were looking for. We are still in the process of installing, but felt it was worth providing a review due to the fantastic customer service. While good customer service ought to be expected of from all businesses, as you go through a remodel you quickly learn how many things can go wrong, and good service goes a really long way. Kevin has been very helpful and spent a lot of time with me going through all the details. There have been a few issues, but as anyone remodeling will learn, it unfortunately will always happen, especially for a whole house of new cabinets (Kitchen with island, 3 vanities, and entertainment wall). The part that was fantastic was how quickly they acknowledge and addressed the mistakes and made replacements immediately so that we could continue with install. Leo at the shop has been absolutely fantastic and extremely helpful at correcting mistakes and providing replacement pieces ASAP, which has helped me continue with the build. The product: Overall quality is actually good. But one big issue I didn't realize till I was way deep in the contract is every cabinet must have end pieces on each end unless they are connected to another cabinet. End piece is about 3/4" thick. This eaten off 6" my space. I discussed with the designer and even the owner and was told this is the way their cabinets are designed. I didn't think this is normal so I visited other cabinetry shops which confirmed only Demetra's cabinets are like this. I was deep in contract so I had to swallow it. The team: This is a bit mixed. Some of their staff are very considerate. Some doesn't have so much customer service attitude. Overall, it's somewhat disappointing but nothing to lose to sleep with. The real agony: OK, after all said and done I have a new kitchen and A LOT OF extra kickboard left. they are still in ORIGINAL PACKAGE. I called Demetra to return but was told it is written in contract nothing can be returned. ( My contract told me he's never heard of any company doesn't accept return of kick board still in package before) Back track a bit---during the design phase, us customer rely on the designer to make the accurate calculation on how many kkckboards needed. They are the experts, right? But even then I did question the designer if that was not necessary to order so many and she very confidently told me I will definitely need them all. So I signed the contract. When I called to ask about the return, Demetra's explanation is "it is normal to have a little bit left because one can never be so accurate and you wouldn't want to order less and have your contractor waiting for the new order". Very true. But I don't just have "a little bit" left. I have extra $500 worth of kick board left. And they are totally in resalable condition. I really don't understand why Demetra wouldn't take them back! So now the $500 worth of kick board are sitting in my garage. This is the most useless $500 I ever spent. read more
