I ordered custom kitchen cabinets and hardware. The workmanship was excellent and Dennis the installer A+++ Dennis is a perfectionist and ensures everything about the job is top notch. He is extremely neat and precise. Cabinets were completed and installment on established agreed upon dates. I had Brent make my custom kitchen cabinets over 12 years ago and those were solid. It was great and beautiful. I had Brent come back and build two pantry cabinets and those did not go so well. I asked for the exact same type of wood and clear coat. Somehow Brent changed the lacquer finish which made the wood look fake-it's a super thick coat. It's been 2 years since the new cabinets have been installed and there's still this heavy toxic smell that will not go away. Everytime I open the cabinet, it smells toxic. Maybe he made a mistake on my cabinets, I'm not sure. When I called him to tell him about this, he wouldn't ever want to come out to check it out. Instead, just put vinegar and let it air out. Geez, I purchased cabinets from you before. This is toxic, you should honor your work is faulty, stand by it! For that, it's 1 star. Some of the negative reviews about Brent are pretty spot on. He's generally a nice guy, but you have to work well with him and Dick (his father). read more

I am over the moon with my cabinets and the work that Brent and his team did. The end result came out beautifully. They promised 1st week of December and was here the 1st week of December. It took 2 days to be installed by 1 guy(I think his name was Dennis) this guy was amazing. The turn out was amazing. You can even go the shop and watch them make your cabinets. I'm writing this review with mixed emotions. Brent did work for me before. Results were great and durable. I recently called and asked for some additions. This is where things went sideways. They were slow to respond. They said they are super busy. That's a great problem. However, they warmed up after I said that I'm an old customer. But then I got the quote, and asked for some modifications to the job. At that point, they stopped responding. I emailed and phoned multiple times. Nothing. When I finally got through, I was told that they "were not interested in more business". Again, I understand the wonderful "problem" of too much business, but that doesn't mean customer service and manners have to disappear. I hope that you guys take this review to heart and address my concerns. Just because you have a lot of business doesn't mean that you can be dismissive of customers. read more

My wife came up with some pretty creative cabinet and drawer ideas. Brent listened, understood everything she wanted to do, and incredibly, was able to bring it all to life. Where cabinets meet at a corner are a challenge. We didn't want the folding doors, or a 45 degree angled corner cabinet. We also didn't want a wall inside separating the left and right side. You can see what we did in the photos. A handle on one side; no handle on the the other. Extremely challenging design, with extremely tight tolerances on how the doors close. I don't know how many people could do it - but Brent pulled it off perfectly. The quality of the cabinets, the inserts for utensils, the spice drawer, incredible lazy susans, the fit, the finish....we couldn't be happier with what Brent and his team did. 10 stars. read more

The cabinets came out perfect, and his installer did a super clean and precise installation of cabinets and trim. I wish I could have afforded to go with Brent's Customer Cabinets. Their prices are higher than I wanted to pay for my kitchen remodel. But I suspect that it's because of the top notch quality. In the process of getting bids for cabinet makers, I was able to tour through their shop. I was very impressed with the foreman who showed me around and explained how they do their work. I designed a custom linen cabinet for a master bathroom remodel we are doing in our home in Danville. It was a complicated design which I reviewed with Brent. Because of its size it had to be built in multiple pieces. The cabinet also had to match the style and design of our cabinets in our guest bath. Brent and his team built cabinets for our entire kitchen a bit over 8 years ago. We live in an older Craftsman house in Oakland (1918) and wanted the kitchen to blend in with the rest of the house (lovely gum wood 1918 cabinets in the living room and dining rooms...with a very unfortunate kitchen remodel done in the 70's). Brent created a design to exactly replicate the design of the living and dining room cabinets in an Oak that matched other furniture in the house, to create a blended feel. He also recommended an excellent tile/granite installer for us to work with (we were our own "contractor/project managers" on this job). The cabinets have been in daily use for 8 years with 2 small kids (now 8 and 6) and a busy household. They look and function just as beautifully today as they did the day they were installed. We have just decided to move our frig and add another set of cabinets...I called the office and got a very nice reception (and 8 years later the job was remembered). They are very busy so it will take some time before they can get to me...but I am happy to wait as I am very happy to see them so successful! read more

In the spring of 2008, we did a complete remodel of our kitchen. Brent designed, crafted, and installed our cabinets and island. We were very happy with the results. And, the level of customer-service by both Brent and his father, Dick, was top-notch. Recently we discovered a couple of areas on the molding strips that needed to be repaired. We contacted Brent's to see how to fix the molding strips. Without hesitation, Dick stated that they would fix the molding strips for us at their cost. Brent delivered and installed new pieces of molding for us today, and our cabinets look as great today as they did the day they were installed. We couldn't be more pleased with the customer-service and craftsmanship exhibited by Brent and Dick. They both get 5 stars!! read more

Brent's Custom Cabinets designed, built and installed our kitchen cabinets, bar cabinets, and laundry cabinets and storage, plus lots of gorgeous open shelves in cherry with space for LED lighting (like under the lowest shelf so that I could have low light when working at the counters beneath the shelves, and in the wine rack areas, etc.). We did pay more for these cabinets, but I am not sure it was significantly more as the price includes design, measurement, fabrication, painting, installation and finishing work. I came in with a good idea of what I wanted, but Brent's expertise, knowledge and creativity was incredible and we ended up with a far better kitchen than we would have on our own. He understands a variety of styles including ours which is modern with contemporary touches. Working with Brent is easy, he is an agreeable, knowledgable and creative guy. He gave me a rough estimate, then later a more exact estimate before beginning the project. He coordinated with our general contractor which is essential because he can't measure until the kitchen is demo'ed and appliances can't go in until cabinets are installed. He was fine adding on the dishwasher door a few weeks into the project so it would blend better into the design, so he is flexible. He is in high demand because he does great work. AND he stuck to his timeline and his price. We are calling him up to work on a piece for the master bath remodel, hopefully he can do that too! read more

Recently, we had Brent's Custom Cabinets make and install cabinets for the remodel of our kitchen and two bathrooms. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the attention to customer service beats any big box store. I was extremely impressed by Brent's attention to detail and recommendations for improving the design of our kitchen remodel. Additionally, Brent's introduction to the finisher he uses for his cabinets made the challenge of trying to describe the finish we were looking for so much easier. Via a meeting with Brent and his finisher, we were able to successfully narrow down our finish choice. Which if you haven't done this yet, you will find is quite difficult when you are attempting to get that special look you are searching for. Now that the remodel is finished, we are very happy that we acted on his advice and modified some of our original cabinet designs. Brent's delivery schedule was dead on. So I just got off the phone with Brents. I am a GC/Home builder with 6 projects right now which require custom millworks. As I have not done business with this company I introduced myself and asked if they were a custom builder or a just a supplier. The response I got was "we are a builder and I don't have time to talk with you". Wow...that is some customer service....not even a "can I call you back" response. I will obviously not be following up with this kind of basic unprofessionalism even if their work is gold. read more

We had an outstanding experience with Brent's Custom Cabinets. With a need for a built-in dresser and shelving unit in our master bedroom, I was referred to Brent's Custom Cabinets and contacted them by email and phone. Brent called back the next day, discussed our need in more detail, and set up an in-home appointment to see the space and make measurements. Brent spoke with my wife and me further about details, then we met at his showroom the next week to review his design and select design options, drawer faces, and hardware. After completing the final design, my wife and I chose to visit the shop again to discuss and finalize everything. Manufacturing took about six weeks, install went very smoothly, and the finished product exceeded our expectations both aesthetically and functionally. read more

We were remodeling our bathroom and ran into a problem with our cabinets -- they weren't standard size and we had a small step to the bathtub that had to be incorporated into design. After looking around a bit somebody recommended this place. We met with the owners a couple of times, decided on design (they've changed it 3 times for us -- after each iteration we had a new "idea") and 2 weeks later our cabinets were done. We asked them to call us before they were going to stain the cabinet, to make sure we like the color and they respected our wish and allowed us to approve the stain color before they used it. Overall we couldn't be happier with the outcome -- a wonderful cabinet that fits perfectly into the space for it, for a very very reasonable amount of money. read more

I was a customer of Brent's, and although the cabinetry itself was very nice, it was not a completed job and he has an oversensitive attitute. When we first went in for our consultation, he recommended I get glass shelves and panels put on 2 over-desk cabinets, with a light installed. However, I got annoyed when he would not respond to emails regarding a quote. When I left a rather snarky phone message requesting a call back, I got a call at work from his dad telling me "he didn't like my attitude" and still no quote. He delayed 3 walls of cabinetry to be built by almost a month while he waited for the specs on a minor undercabinet microwave dimentions. And when it was all done, I was left with no glass shelves no glass panes, no lighting, and the desk area left unfinished. His excuse? "he didn't know what I wanted "(and didn't ask) and "he didn't know how to go about doing it". Six month's later, I saw the job he did on my neighbor's kitchen. Lo and behold, the same desk, with glass, lighting and shelves. My neighbor told me the contractor didn't have anything to do with it; Brent did the whole thing. On neither of our contracts was mentioned anything about glass. Obviously he picks and chooses what he wants to do. I recommend the work; but get every damned thing in writing, confirm dates, and demand he line - item every single thing he's going to do. Even the trim wasn't finished, and my contractor came in to complete the job in the name of good customer service. read more
