I had fond memories of the IKEA meatballs growing up and feeling a bit nostalgic, and wanting to take advantage of my parents wanting a trip to the Crate & Barrel outlet nearby, I decided to stop into the food court. Pleased to say the meatballs are exactly as delicious as I remembered. However, the prices have definitely gone up - I think a meatball meal with 8 meatballs (and they COUNT them) is $9 or so. Considering I liken IKEA food as closer to fast food than to a restaurant, it's a bit steep. However, they do have other inexpensive options like spaghetti for $3 (although why on earth would you order spaghetti at an IKEA, I don't know), an egg salad sandwich for $4 that looked surprisingly good and hearty, or kids mac and cheese for $2.50. With that said, you're there for the meatballs. I also ordered a side of fries (ample and tasty) and a fountain drink (flat, with disappointing options to choose from). As for the store itself, it's pretty par for the course with any other IKEA out there, so if you like IKEA you'll like this one, and if you hate IKEA don't bother coming. As always, the store is organized like a maze with "shortcuts" that can take you to other departments as needed. One thing I will note about this store is that the employees were notably, and I mean NOTABLY, friendly, especially considering I was there close to their closing time at the end of what was probably a long shift. It was Nate's first time trying the food at IKEA! I knew he would like it and I was excited to eat some meatballs since it had been awhile. The cafe was really clean and not that busy which was nice. They have a cute little area for kids. The menu is kind of small but you can get a bunch of a la carte items like sides, etc. We got the Swedish meatballs, Stockholm salad, and a side of mac and cheese. If you're a member of the IKEA "family" you can get free unlimited coffee. They also have their own bubbly drinks and lingonberry juice. Ordering is cafeteria style and it was quick to get through the line and check out. There is plenty of seating and it's bright an airy. I loved the atmosphere of the dining area. The food was all tasty and priced well. The Stockholm salad was delicious with smoked salmon and it comes with a scoop of potato salad. Another thing I noticed that I loved was the carts that hold multiple trays! I saw a person with some kids who had one, it's just so smart. The food here is as processed and minimally to-the-point as their furniture is. I've only ever eaten here because the Advent calendars they sell come with a free meatball plate, and to get the odd hotdog or pretzel when I've forgotten how bad they are. There's no reason to come here for the food. If you're a shopper, checking out local places would be better. Nothing here is appetizing or quality, tasting bland with a rather plasticky texture. It's served cafeteria style and tastes like cafeteria food. It's also a fraud. A girl I once knew in Sweden was confused by the existence of the spicy Swedish mustard they have on offer, claiming she never heard of it before. Apparently the food here is as Swedish as fortune cookies are Chinese. Oh. And apparently they give out paper Swedish flags on toothpicks, but only to select customers and/or if you ask about them. I absolutely have to say that I am *completely* bewildered at the reverence this place gets, or at least that the restaurant therein, gets. I had a 12 meatball plate, with (most assuredly) boxed mashed potatoes, peas, and a bit of lingonberry jam. There was also a cream sauce that was served with it. That, out the door (tax included) was $10.59. ::slowly exhales:: OK, help me out, here, people: what am I missing, here? What, exactly, makes this food, or this place, enticing, in a culinary way? The entire plate, with the possible exception of the lingonberry jam, was almost completely bereft of flavor. I cannot type BLAND in a big enough font to convey my reaction to the entirety of everything I ate there. Please don't misunderstand: nothing turned my stomach, nothing was *bad*...but it was all so stinking bland that it made the Taco Bell box I had a couple of days before that seem like a culinary wunderkind!!! At least the TB food had some minor complexity to it! And perhaps by that, I mean, at least it *tasted* of something! Salt? The meatballs...good night in shining armor. I've had *SO MUCH BETTER*, so many other places, including, I think, Gordon Food Services. At least when I have those at a party or something, they're piping hot, and they'll have a sauce or a dip or something to go with them. These? Lukewarm at best (I didn't see that they had a microwave for use until after I was done...), and even with the "cream sauce", the best I can say about them is that they were completely edible. By at least a letter grade, the best thing on the plate was the lingonberry jam. Next in line would be the peas, which were serviceable, but nothing really consequential. Next would be the boxed mashed potatoes, which if I'm being fair, are a pretty decent version of boxed mashed potatoes, but again: they taste of nothing! There's no flavor there! Would using some freaking *salt* go against the ethnocentrism of the Swedes or something? I should have heeded something that the workers told me as a clue when I was in line and asked about the sauce: I initially called it a "mushroom sauce" because I naturally assumed that, with Swedish meatballs, mushrooms would be involved. After all, the sauce itself is a brown color, and I thought that that would be indicative of mushrooms, and yes: mushrooms are a *great* source of flavor when used correctly, one that I enjoy. The workers corrected me and told me that it was a *cream* sauce, *not* a mushroom sauce. They were certainly correct. How disappointing. After eating everything, I found myself laughing, truly. I regret purchasing kitchen cabinets at IKEA because they routinely send you home with missing parts. Last kitchen, the packages contained the wrong door faces. This time, IKEA sent the order out without the Hinges. I called and they said they would have missing hinges ready. After another commute--"oops. the hinges are out of stock. We can send them to you in 10 days." Yes the styles are tempting. Don't do it. Installers hate the poor quality, missing parts and delays. Ikea will waste your time and delay construction. read more

Love me some IKEA Restaurant & Cafe. It's cheap, efficient and filling. The Swedish meatballs aren't as good as the places in Sweden (no, duh -no one should waltz into an IKEA expecting that) but it's pretty solid. I ordered the Swedish meatball set (with half chicken and half beef meatballs). I'm not a big fan of the new seasonal veggie change, but it was fine. I also got a salad on the side and it seemed fresh - no wilted lettuce in sight! Gotta love their fountain drinks - huge fan of the Lingonberry drink. I also tried the new Sparkling Pear Drink and liked it so much that I bought a bottle to enjoy at home. Don't leave without getting a jar of Lingonberry jam! As I'm writing this review, there is only one other review and it's for the store itself and not the cafe. So here goes the first review for the IKEA restaurant and cafe! I'll start off by saying, the restaurant handles and serves a ton of people and it's an absolutely well run and efficient ordering process that keeps everyone in the ordering line moving along at a very good clip. The food portions are really just the right size and are neither too big nor too small. With entrees and sandwiches, salads, desserts, soups... there is always a delicious choice for everyone. Their Swedish Meatballs are of course their specialty but this visit I went with the salmon with hollandaise sauce and mixed vegetables and it was a delicious choice at a very reasonable price. Their breakfasts are also very good if you're there bright and early and need a good, nutritious start before walking around the massive two level store. Their beverages are delicious, especially their Lingonberry juice. It's a must try if you don't want carbonated soda. They have a huge amount of seating so there's never a search for where you're going to sit and the windows offer a nice view from above since the restaurant is upstairs. The clean up after yourself system is also very efficient, where there are cubbies to place your dirty dishes and trays and there is plenty of staff making sure everything is taken care of. So if you've been wondering if it's any good, I'll say this... for a store serving food, they have the system down to a T and I'd recommend it during your next shopping visit. But don't expect loads of food piled high on your plate like other restaurants may serve. The portions are really the perfect size, the food itself is very good and make sure you try one of their soups, salads or delicious desserts to complement your meal. Ended up trying the food twice, and both times the food was reasonably fresh, considering the place serves cafeteria style. The standard Swedish meatball set was quite filling and reasonably priced. Texture of the meatballs was very fine. Combining with the creamy sauce and berry sauce, you have that nice sweet/savory mix. The mushroom bisque was okay. Definitely would suggest it with bread Second time, I tried the vegetarian meatball set with their curry sauce. The meatballs themselves were great and the Thai curry sauce adds much needed flavor. The quinoa was a bit flavorless, but mixes well with the meatballs' sauce. Definitely would advise trying at least once for the experience or if you need dinner in a pinch after furniture shopping. read more

Pretty good food at a very good price. Personally I am not the biggest fan of meatballs but I found IKEA's Restaurant and Cafe to be pretty satisfying. The food is served pretty efficiently through a cafeteria style kitchen and customers can choose from a wide pretty wide variety of foods. However, other than the Swedish meatballs which are pretty unique, I found the overall food to be pretty average. Overall, I wouldn't go out of way to go there but if you find yourself hungry at an IKEA, I would definitely suggest trying it out. read more

I visit IKEA once a year, and without a doubt, the highlight of the trip is stopping at the restaurant to get my Swedish meatballs. Every year, I am not let down - they are always delicious and go well with the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. If you're as serious about these Swedish meatballs as I am, grab a frozen bag of them downstairs so you can enjoy them even when you're not in Canton. The cafeteria upstairs has a lot of seating, and people are typically in a hurry, so even during peak hours, you'll likely still find seating. They serve everyone efficiently, so even though the line might look long, chances are you won't be waiting too long. The bistro downstairs doesn't have nearly as much seating, but still has good grub and is great for a quick bite to eat. Hot dogs and pizza are available for your favorite picky eaters, and are reasonably priced. This is also where you find the famous cinnamon buns - grab a six-pack for later! My only minor complaint is that, on the rare occasion, they run out of food. As a food service worker, I understand the importance to always have all food stocked, but I also understand that sometimes, running out of stock is out of their control. Nonetheless, eating at IKEA is always a treat! read more

There was a good amount of variety in terms of food selection. The prices are not bad either. However, the last time I went, I got the salmon fillet and I got a piece that was clearly half of the size of most of the other pieces. This Ikea is really weird. I love Ikea and I've been to several. I mostly go to Ikea in Carson, CA, which is near where I live. But I'm visiting locally and my aunt moved so off to Ikea I went on a Wednesday at 2 pm. The first floor cafe staff was indifferent. Okay, not the end of the world. I went up to the kitchen department to design a kitchen for a condo I just bought. I didn't pay for an appointment, but my understanding of the kitchen design consultations is that if there's an employee free who's not helping other customers then they can help you, but you don't necessarily get their undivided time. There was staff everywhere doing....not much from what I could tell. I asked one staffer what he was doing and he said, "nothing." I told him I'd get started on my design by myself since I'd used the system before and he said to ask for help if I needed it. So when I needed help I asked the employee sitting next to me at the other computer and while she ultimately helped me she acted like I was interrupting her and that I was being irritating. She was answering emails that came to the kitchen department. If she really needed to do that uninterrupted I don't know why she didn't ask one of the people standing around to help me. Weird. The was staff all over the store and nobody appeared to be doing anything. Everyone seemed unenthusiastic and listless. That's never been my experience at Ikea before. Like I said, Weird. read more

We arrived when they opened. Some of the food items that make up their breakfast plates weren't ready. They offered to let us go back up to get them when they are ready. Would have been nice if they offered to bring them out. I ordered something on the side too. That wasn't ready either. So I paid the the full breakfast and didn't get everything. I used to really enjoy the cafeteria. We went today and food was ok. We were going to get drinks but all the glasses were dirty - specks of food, smears on the glass. Looks like they were run through a dirty dishwasher. I told the cashier and she said check the other rack. Same dirty glasses. She seemed in different. We had to ask her to refund our drinks. The manager came to refund our drinks and I showed him our dirty glasses. He said I'll take those. I told him all the glasses were like that. He just walked away. They never replaced the glasses. Pretty much made me lose my appetite. All the employees in the store seemed pretty lackluster and the store just seemed tired and run down. read more

I go here for a quick cheap meal with just me and the kids. Although they did get rid of kids eat free it's still a great price. I got 2 kids meals and an adult meal for less than $15 bucks. The food they serve has great value. We had the Swedish meatballs served with lingonberry jam, mashed potatoes & gravy and mixed vegetables. I was surprised at how much flavor the meatballs and vegetables had-also, the veggies had some crunch to them, so they weren't overcooked. Everything tasted homemade and I didn't taste any artificial junk like you might get at Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC's mashed potatoes and gravy are absolute garbage. The meal at IKEA cost a little more than $5 and the food had better quality than a meal you would buy for $10 or more at other restaurants. We also tried two hot dogs and a fountain drink for $3.25 near the checkout area and the hot dogs and buns were of high quality as well. I was excited that the fountain drinks they offered were fruit flavored Nordic sparkling water instead of the usual Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite or Pepsi/Diet Pepsi/Sierra Mist, etc. We had the Raspberry Nordic sparkling water, which was refreshing with the perfect amount of sweet. I used to hate going to Ikea because of how busy it is, but now I can at least look forward to having some delicious food and beverages. read more
