They offer their iconic Swedish meatballs and salmon in the hot area. The restaurant was large and spacious and had great natural light. The decor was modern. For lunch, I had the Swedish Meatball Dinner. It came with 12 meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and lingonberry sauce. The meatballs were delicious and the food combination worked well together. The portion was generous and the pricing was affordable. I paid $12.99 for the meal. The employees were very nice and they served the line quickly. In less than 5 minutes, I ordered and was sitting enjoying my meal. Whoever the Chief Lunch Officer (CLO) at IKEA is made the bright decision to only have 5 options for meals. They knew that their patrons would be suffering from decision fatigue by the time they made it to the mess hall. At this point in the day, IKEA has put you through enough mental gymnastics, and you don't want too much variety in which Scandinavian plate to order. So grab whichever meatball derivative product that speaks to you, and take a window seat so that you can vibe out to the sights and sounds of beautiful Renton. If you're coming from Seattle, you've most likely never been here! Why would you need to? It's a gem, folks. You're bound to see hilarious views of shoppers losing control of their carts from above while you rest up for your final push through the store. I was pleasantly surprised by both the traditional meatballs, and the veg balls, which are fairly similar in texture and taste to the standard issue (did they make a mistake?) the lingonberry jam (I'm pretty sure that's what I was eating) adds a nice balance to the balls that is necessary to cut through the fat. The mashed potatoes were just ok, but if you screw those up then you are just a lost cause. A nice gravy blanket then re-invigorates the body, bringing back the calories lost from the 15k steps that you just took through a warehouse that makes Costco look like a dollhouse. Let's be clear that I'm not rating ikea itself as a 3 star establishment here, it's higher. They are doing us all a service by supplying easy to build (well, maybe not easy) furniture at a decent cost. And the store itself is actually fun. But I can't in good faith rate the food higher than 3 stars. It did the job well, but there are certainly no frills. Also, make sure you get yourself a Varmblixt for some warm, ambient light in your household. It will change your life. read more

After trekking through what felt like miles of gorgeous room displays, my blood sugar was crashing and we desperately needed to refuel. Enter the IKEA restaurant--our absolute savior. The order line was massive (pro tip: divide and conquer! My husband and son kept shopping while I held down the fort in line). It was incredibly clean, efficient, and so spacious. As a meatball fan, I was in heaven: they have Swedish, plant-based, falafel, and fish balls! Plus, hot coffee and tea are totally free for IKEA family members. We fed three starving people for a mind-blowing $37. This was fairly disappointing. Firstly it is incredibly slow moving even with both sides of the restaurant open. The bottled drinks weren't stocked very well and there was a quite limited selecting. The first side I waited maybe ten minutes and saw the cold areas sparsely stocked with anything. Wanting for desserts I had opted to get out of line and start over by making my way to the opposite line. Service wasn't all that friendly and they also seemed understaffed for dinner time. As far as food goes the meatballs were great and so were the vegetable balls. The medallions were lovely and truly my favorite way to eat vegetables. The mashed potatoes were dull and tasted like exactly mashed potatoes and nothing more. Funny that this was my first time ever visiting an IKEA. I lived in Kansas City and never visited that one. I lived in Las Vegas a couple blocks away from that IKEA, and never stepped foot inside that one. I had a friend tell me that they purchased a bedroom furniture set from an IKEA and had to assemble the products themselves. I don't have time nor patience for that. So, the Renton, Washington IKEA was my first ever visit and I must say, I was impressed. I spent about 5 hours looking at everything. I even ate in their restaurant on the upper floor. I did leave with a few purchases and a head full of future ideas. I was super impressed with "how they thought of everything " mentality. Even in the restaurant,for example, they have tray carts that hold 3 trays. Perfect for families to use to navigate cafeteria style food easier from selection to table. Or the As Is section, right near the customer service and check out registers. It's the first day of the New Year and I'm already embarking on organizing the house and repotting new Aloe Vera and Peace Lilly plants I purchased from my IKEA visit. Thank you IKEA! I now know not everything requires assembly. And even if it does, I can pay a little extra to have someone else do that for me. I look forward to visiting again soon. read more

My family has been eating at this restaurant for the last ten years, but for some reason when we came last Saturday, we had a terrible experience. For some reason, despite the fact that it was the first Saturday following the New Year (when Ikea puts everything on sale), it seemed like the restaurant employees were completely unprepared for the crowd. We waited in line for food for more than fifteen minutes because they ran out of Swedish meatballs and had to make more. In addition they were also out of conspiracy chocolate cake, garlic bread, mac n cheese, and when we got to the front of the line, they made us wait an extra seven minutes for the garlic cod dish because that was not ready either. We'd never had this kind of experience at Ikea before, and we were massively disappointed, especially since my little sister had been craving the garlic bread and meatballs for weeks, and it was the only reason we came into the store. I really wanted some cola from the soft drink machine, so I paid for the glass cup at the register only to find out they were completely out of cola. I feel like the woman at the register should have told us that because I would not have purchased a cup for soda if I had known they were out of cola and diet cola in their machines. We came here over the weekend. The line ended near the cash registers. The line was slow moving. I like the pictures/menu on the monitors. From that, I knew right away what I wanted - the Stockholm salad. Ordered so much food cuz the portions are a bit small. The kids meal is 2.50! Spent $70 for 6 dishes, 1 kids meal, a side. It's so bright and airy there! Lots of seats at that time. Don't forget to bus your own table! Kids like to pitch in and help with that. Saved me a few bucks by not having to tip. Parking was easy. Located on the second floor of this massive furniture warehouse, this restaurant is more like a cafeteria that meets you after you've navigated through a Disney-like experience of furniture showrooms. The famous dish here are the meatballs. You can get them with mashed potatoes, peas, and gravy. The prices are fairly reasonable. They have kids meals to appease the hungry little tots with your standard chicken tenders and mac and cheese type of meals. They also have desserts, but I didn't try any this go round. The meatball meal was delicious. We also had a side of mac and cheese. It was pretty good as well. Remember to sign up for an Idea account. You get a free coffee or tea with your meal. Located on the second floor where the showroom is, the IKEA Restaurant was pretty spacious and open, as it's a cafeteria style concept where you wait in line to get your food and then pick an open seat, tray in hand. There were two lines to get food, which was a little confusing at first, we had to ask people what the other line was for. The menu had a handful of items, including the Swedish meatballs, which is what most people come here for. The meatballs dish came with mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli and lingonberry sauce on the side. It was about seven bucks for the meal. Additionally, there were other items in the fridge that did not look appealing at all, like the salad with smoked salmon. It looked like it was sitting in there all day. Swedish meatballs weren't bad. The gravy and mashed potatoes were more watery than I expected, which was disappointing since I like a thicker texture. The steamed broccoli was also meh, as it tasted like it had been under the heat lamp for awhile. Next time I'd ask if I could have green beans instead. One of the most irritating thing about the IKEA cafeteria (especially after they switched to their own brand of sodas) has been the drink stations. Their ice makers were broken, the syrup and carbonation was always horribly weak, etc. So I was excited to see two new machines! Unfortunately it was all the same-- One entire machine was broken and the other side had no ice. The carbonation was practically nonexistent and the syrup was so weak that the cola looked like iced tea. Their drinks cost $2 and come in a glass that holds about 12oz, so it's not like it was cheap enough to excuse it away. I tried to drink the water but it had a very chemical taste. I would have asked someone who works there for help but unfortunately there's nobody around to ask for help. As far as food-- since the pandemic their selection is very slim. Other locations don't seem to have this issue and carry what is listed on their website. The biggest disappointment is that there are almost never desserts available anymore. The prices have also raised drastically while quality has dropped. Unfortunately it's just not a fun part of the IKEA experience anymore. I do have one thing I'd like to direct towards other diners-- Clean up after yourselves! How can you just vet up from a table you've destroyed and leave with food on the table and floors and dirty plates still there? Oh boy what a day, it was my first time going to IKEA what a nightmare. Ok there's plenty of parking way bigger than Costco, so more people, we made our furniture purchase quickly with the help of one of the electronic gadgets showed us the isle and bin we located said item bada boom bada bing we are done. I tell you why not we waited in line at a high school type of cafeteria that was way under staffed. There's two lines to get your orders unfortunately the line we chose was staffed by an overwhelmed little old lady who couldn't keep up, the other line had three servers what the ....... Hey manager you're not doing a good job distributing your staff. We waited over 45 minutes. Ok got that off my chest so the restaurant has a lot of seats and was pretty clean when we got to place our orders they had started to add servers to or line they go through their entrees fast I don't just want meatballs I wanted the Garlic lemon cod but it was not available for a couple of minutes at this point oh well about par for the course. Like I mentioned I chose the cod it comes with mashed potatoes no gravy and peas. The cod was moist and very nicely seasoned the potatoes and peas are acceptable but nothing to get excited about. I also got a side of meatballs that comes with gravy and a lingonberry sauce. The meatballs are good they're frozen and you can get them at the checkout, we bought two bags of them. I also got a side of their smoked gravlax it's ok very lightly smoked the lemon mustard sauce was a nice complement. Generally a well run kitchen and we usually order the meatball plate. This time I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. But they had run out. They said 10 mins for them to replenish the pulled pork. You really cannot beat the prices for the meals that are offered here. It is set up more of a cafeteria than a restaurant. I came here during dinner time. You grab a tray and first you can pick a dessert (not sure why the dessert is first, probably to allure the children), side salads and salmon/bagel plates, then you are up front in the entree section. There are about 5-6 options with the main course being salmon, meatballs, or pork shanks. Depending on your main, you can get gravy, mashed potatoes, greens, grains, etc. There's also dinner breads and drinks at the end. Everything has a price listed right underneath. Once you grab your food, you pick a table to eat and slide your tray on their racks once you're done. It felt just like high school. The tables around also reminded me of high school given that they were dirty. They can be maintained better. For my plate, the salmon fillet dinner was $8, marzipan cream cake for $1.50, and I got an apple cider for $2 (but there are fountain drinks for $1). For the price here, the food here was surprisingly good. The salmon was cooked nicely and the lemon dill sauce had nice lemon flavor that compliment the fish. The grains were pretty dry and needed more flavor, so I had to mix the sauce in there. The string beans were good, but I wish there were more. The cake was nice! I've never had marzipan before so I'm glad I picked that one compared to the cheesecakes there were available. It was sweet, but not overpowering like buttercream. The lines were a little ridiculously long to get through; it took about 20 minutes to get through with our food. The gals serving up the dishes were polite and happy to make minor changes as requested, which was double steamed vegetables and meatballs, rather than the usual mashed potatoes as part of the dish. I only wanted soup and salad but had to wait with everyone who wanted meatballs and other non-self serve food. Half the beverage dispensers out of order.
