    Twist

I was excited to try this place but it fell short of my expectations. If I didn't try their sister bakery (cafe haagen) and know the stuff I would have given it a 3 star. This place was pretty hard to find as it wasn't in pike place but off the path a little. It's a small place with varieties of baked goods. I ended up getting a blueberry Danish and some sort of twist. The Danish was already, nothing out of the ordinary for me. The twist though was pretty good. Flaky, slightly sweet. The lady was pretty Nice and was ok with me changing my mind last minute :). I think after going to cafe haggen, I prefer that place over this place but they do have similar items so if you are craving something, you can get at both locations ie the cruffin, which is delicious

Lovely little bakery with both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff members were very welcoming and helpful. We shared a slice of orange almond cake that was delicious. Kobenhavn latte (cardamom and almond flavored) was delightful. Really amazing looking chocolate chunk or oatmeal raisin cookies were calling my name but I just couldn't do it this time. Croissants also looked splendid as did a few of the savory items. Gonna have to come back.

Just below Pike Place Market is a small Scandinavian bakery. Walk inside you find many pasties, breakfast items, and coffee. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast experience. My eight-year-old daughter loved the banana chocolate chip bread. My wife and I enjoyed the meat quiche and breakfast bun with bacon. The cardamom knot had good flavor but it was cold and hard. To drink, we both got the Kobenhaven Latte. It's a slightly sweet latte with almond, cardamom and other flavors. The space is small but there are a few outdoor tables along the sidewalk. Inside is a water jug with plastic cups and dog treats. Service was good!

Excited to try this spot in Seattle's Pike Place market while on a food tour. It's tucked away in a hidden corner that I would've never have thought to look in if it wasn't for the food tour guide. We tried the cardamom knot and the Raspberry Slice (Hindbaersnitter) -- both were so good! The Raspberry Slice was like an upscale pop tart.

    Kouign Amann

This review is for one item: the kouign-amann. Unfortunately, this was lacking on all fronts. The best part of a kouign-amann is that it should be SUPER buttery and flaky, but their rendition was soggy and instead of distinct layers, you had just a sad doughy center. I will continue my hunt in Seattle for an acceptable version of this pastry as unfortunately I didn't find on here. Logistically, the store is a street away from Pike Place and was completely empty at 1PM on a Sunday. They still had most of their pastries available and there is very little seating at the store (a few tables outside and bench seating indoors). Can't speak for the other food or drinks, but the service was very sweet at least. Perhaps the famed churro cruffin is worth the hype, but as a first visit, I wasn't impressed.

I had high hopes, but my churro cruffin was just okay. It didn't taste like a churro at all (I didn't detect any cinnamon). It was a bit crunchy and could have been fresher by far. I wasn't impressed.

Ham and cheese crossaint, forgot the pastry name

Got a ham and cheese crossaint sandwich with a latte and a pastry and all were very good. Inside is a bit small but the staff was very nice and we enjoyed our food.

We did....but if you are near the waterfront or PPM, may be worth stopping by Freya to get a coffee and breakfast. Located on the backside of PPM on Western, it's a cozy little cafe. Only a few seats inside and a few tables outside. Friendly greetings as we walked in, a lot of nice looking pastries and some sandwiches to choose from. We got the Market Croissant Sandwich and Pecan Sticky Bun. Both were real good and tasty! Accompany that with a latte and chai, we were good to go! It's order at the counter style and they will call your name as your food and drinks become ready. They may not always remember, but be sure to remind them you ordered a bottled drink too. Staff was nice & friendly, on the pricier side, cozy place, coffee and food was good. Glad to have come by to check them out.

Stopped by for breakfast. It was almost $70 for all that we got... the food was overall excellent. The banana chocolate bread was nothing to write home about and a bit dry. However, everything else was really good. It was fun to try all the different coffees in the flight.

Freya is one of my favorite cafes and bakeries in Seattle. Nestled between Pike Place and the waterfront, the storefont is small but mighty. They have a great selection of Scandinavian-influenced baked goods and coffees. Simply browsing their pastry case makes me so happy because of how beautiful every pastry looks! With that said, their churro cruffin is out of this world. Dusted with cinnamon sugar and filled with custard inside, the cruffin is flaky, airy, and buttery. The portion was also huge, making it perfect for sharing. Not to exaggerate, but I dream about eating it everyday. I highly recommend everyone to check out Freya.

    Kobenhaven Latte And Avocado Toast
    Steve A.

Came to this local bakery in Pike Place Market for breakfast. Freya is unique while also being familiar. It specializes in making Scandinavian baked goods and pastries. Has quite a few things to choose from even though it's limited in area. There's a few things for vegans including lattes and avocado toast among the freshly made offerings. A pretty cozy place to sip on coffee and munch on baked goods. It's modern looking while also having the classic charm of old school coffee hangouts. This is one of those places you order at the counter, and they call it out. Has some things that set it apart from other coffeehouses. The main thing is the Scandinavian influence, with the seasonings and spices. It's about $6 for a latte. The Kobenhaven Latte is made with almond, cardamom, and espresso, with steamed milk. Can get a non dairy milk alternate. It's $12 for Avocado Toast. Has standard toppings on it. The avocado spread is seasoned with garlic, lime, microgreens, and sesame seeds. Has many things that are baked fresh. There's danishes obviously, as well as breads and other pastries. Fresh and clean. It's on Western Avenue at Pike. This is on the first floor of the market, and is open for breakfast and lunch, with a few things for vegans and vegetarians.

I stumbled upon this cute hidden gem , I walked in and loved the esthetic decore. I got greeted by a young gentleman. I wasn't quite sure what to order. but I said what the heck . I'm yelping also. so I ordered the Avocado Toast , Seattle frog and for my dessert Pear creme brulee. my avocado toast has a kick of spice, my Frog actually they recommend it hot but I got it cold, trust even better I think . to stuff to try the creme brulee . No Restrooms, very small to sit inside of you have party of 3 or more. There's sitting outside as well. I recommend what I ordered to be quite honest :)

This is such a fantastic cafe. Stopped here twice during our weekend trip to Seattle. Their Kobenhaven coffee was amazing (both hot and iced) and a blueberry danish the first time (so delicious, the blueberries were so fresh and the pastries was so crunchy). The second time we stopped in we met Oli our amazing barista! They were so sweet and funny :) definitely made our second stop memorable. I got another 8 oz kobenhaven and a churro cruffin (PLEASE TRY THIS!!!) and a pear crème brûlée to go because all of their pastries were immaculate. The shop is on the smaller side but there is ample seating outside and a few seats inside:) it's also close to pikes so if you're in that neighborhood be sure to stop by!

While I ultimately decided that I'm still a fan of the classic mocha, I'm glad I tried it--it made for a unique coffee experience. Another nice surprise is that Hagen also has a full bar, so it's a great place to return later in the day if you're in the mood for a cocktail instead of coffee. Key Points: - Iconic khachapuri "bread boats"…read more- minor drawback: limited coffee customization options and only forks available The Fam and I stopped by Skalka for some breakfast/brunch before perusing the rest of Seattle during my birthday week. I saw it on a few YouTube food influencer videos and was really impressed by what I saw. The their staple is their Georgian khachapuri. They're the iconic bread "boats" filled with cheese, butter, egg, and whatever comes along the variety you ordered. TBH, I actually thought they looked like little volcanoes, which is something I figured The Little One would enjoy. What we ordered: - Stroganoff: one of the popular items listed on the yelp page. The beef was rich, succulent and comforting, with a creamy, savory filling. The pickles added a bit of bright, tangy contrast to balance the richness. - Adjaruli, the classic version with cheese, butter, and egg. To me, this seemed like the plainest version, but I figured The little One would be more likely eat this because she hates anything that resembles a sauce or toppings. Both dishes were fantastic. The bread boat sort of reminded me of a pizza crust: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfect for tearing off and dipping into the cheesy center. The Little one did especially like the crust since she's a big pizza-crust fan. Surprisingly, getting her to eat the cheese and egg was tougher, as she usually likes those. I guess that's just being a kid? Inconsistent fluctuations of opinions and likings? The Mrs. and I happily finished everything she left behind. The restaurant itself is a small, casual spot with self-service kiosks for ordering and open seating. Nothing fancy, but it's efficient. We also appreciated that they had high chairs available, making it easy to visit with a child. We did see other families with kids there too. My only gripes: - once you've submitted your kiosk order, making changes isn't really possible. The staff is so busy going in and out of the kitchen, that you really don't have any opportunity to flag them down. We actually wanted to make one minor change to our order, but by the time I managed to talk to someone about it, she informed me that the order was already being made. - If you order coffee, you need to decide on cream, half-and-half, and sugar ahead of time, seemingly preset amounts. It's entirely prepared in the kitchen, not self serve, and you can't exactly customize to your liking. - Only forks were available. No spoons, no knives. Knives would have been helpful for cutting through the thicker bread crust. Those are very minor complaints, though. The food was excellent, the concept is unique, and the meal was memorable. Won't dock any points off there.

They serve only one type of dish, which is like a bread boat with cheese inside and or other filling. I got the one with spinach and cheese - it is enough for 2 ppl but I finished it on my own as a very hungry pregnant lady. We also got 2 more to go - one with beans and bacon (Lobiani) and the other with beef stroganoff. Both were delicious, although the beans & bacon one has a bit of spice. I would 100% recommend eating in person though, because everything is perfect and melty when it's fresh.
