Had to go to one place for a fork and the last knife, to another for a spoon. Soup just labeled "soup" as far as I could see. Clearly tomato, but had cheese and/or meat/tofu as well. I am so sorry I didn't take a photo of my most recent meal at the IKEA cafeteria, because I had the most delicious little add on I don't quite remember the name of. It looks egg based, but is a "medallion" of cheese, potato, onion, and broccoli. Delicious. I also got fries as usual, a side of garlic bread, a salmon "kale" salad despite me never having seen actual kale in this place, just baby greens, and an apple juice. I added on croutons from the salad bar and no one seemed to question or upcharge me. All of this cost 14. Amazing. The IKEA kitchen is absolutely necessary before you attempt to navigate these winding halls. I still haven't tried the meatballs! read more

IKEA Restaurant is pretty much a place to pace yourself and relax during your visit to the ginormous retailer. It makes sense that for a company that has built itself on offering good value and budget friendly pricing that the restaurant would do the same. You can get a decent meal here for not a lot of coin. Comparable to what you would pay at a fast food joint. That said, IKEA wares are not top of the line products. Cheap and mass produced is the name of the game. And the restaurant follows suit. The quality on some of the menu items are not so great. Though there were a couple items that I found here to be winning. The obvious item to choose here is the Swedish meatballs. They offer this as an entree and a combo, plus they sell them in the specialty foods section. Being a Swedish company, I would expect the meatballs here to be nothing less than good. Given the lack of Scandinavian restaurants in the area, IKEA represents one of the most accessible options in trying the cuisine of this region. And this dish is probably the most palatable. Somehow, I just don't see moose or herring as being very appealing to the average IKEA shopper/diner. I got the Swedish meatball combo ($4.99) which comes with a choice of soup or salad and a drink alongside a piece of the almond torte ($1.99). Started off with the chicken noodle soup that was edible, albeit obviously filled with frozen or packaged vegetables as they look like they had seen better days. The noodles had fallen apart and separated into mini bits. This unfortunately falls in the not so great category. As expected, the meatballs are delicious. The mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce and gravy all seem to work well together. Albeit in eating this dish, it seemed to have a frozen TV dinner vibe to them for me. I am not knocking that. I like some frozen dinner entrees. But the appeal in them is similar to ordering the meatballs here which is convenience. Lastly, I took the dessert torte to go. I am not sure if they have take out, but I simply just wrapped up the torte in the plastic foil and took it home for a bite later. For the price, I have to say that this was an amazing treat. Tastier than some bakery items that I have paid more for elsewhere. If you have space after a meal here, try one of their dessert items which BTW is located in the area before you choose your entree. I think IKEA has done a good job with promoting Swedish foods with their restaurant and specialty foods section. Without IKEA, I think cuisine from Sweden and the Scandinavian region in general would be more unfamiliar to the average American. One thing I liked about Seattle/Washington state were there were a lot of vegetarian options and the IKEA Restaurant in the IKEA store was no different. They are also health-conscious enough to list the amount of calories you are consuming with each item. Swedish Meatballs meal for $5.99 which comes with 15 meatballs , a scoop of mashed potato and a dollop of Lingonberry sauce (tasted like an un-tangy cranberry sauce). If you want this same meal in Kid's sized version it is cheaper ($1.29 for 5 meatballs and additional $1.29 for a scoop of mashed) Veggie Meatball meal for $4.49 with 10 "meatballs", curry sauce and steamed veggies. Vegetable medallions were my favorite - they were a sort of mashed potato cake with chopped veggies for $1.99 (for two). Lingonberry carton drink was available for purchase for 99 cents but you could also get Lingonberry juice from the soda fountain and much more of it. It reminds me of weak cranberry juice. I purchased a carton of Elderflower drink also but it too was a weak, watery tasting beverage. Lots of seating in a fancy cafeteria style restaurant. Take your trays up to the tray area after eating and stack them on the food rack. You can also park your shopping cart next to the restaurant before you order/eat. Like any other place, you'll get a different kind of customer service depending on what day and time you visit. Naturally, this place can get very busy considering how cheap the food can be. Sure, it's not amazing, but it's cheap and fast. I've been here maybe 20 times now only for their breakfast. It used to be open at 9:30 AM, but NOW they open from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. On the weekdays, you don't have to worry too much about there being a long line; at most, you'll maybe wait less than 10 minutes. But on the weekends, you should really get there as early as possible, because the lines can get so long! On my last visit on a Sunday morning, the line extended all the way to the dining area, and my family and I had to wait literally 30 minutes before we got to the front. So, yes, the early bird gets the worm. As for the food, it's really not "out of this world," considering it is all just frozen and merely reheated. But considering the price, it's certainly more fulfilling and worth the money than if you were to grab breakfast any other place for the same price. So my family and I say, IT IS WORTH IT, especially when you're on a budget. The food hasn't stopped us from coming here almost twice a week lol. And did not look like anyone was doing a thing about it. Only two side salads in the case, and I took one. I don't know what else was supposed to be in the case because that was it. That's all. I ordered the salmon filet with a veggie medallion and mashed potatoes. All good was Luke warm on a very cold rainy winter night. Not sure what happened to real China and silverware. Paper plates, plastic cutlery, and paper cups were all that is offered (except for the side salad). So much for the environment. This is not the IKEA restaurant I used to bring my children to. You can't beat a whole plate of food for only $5; the Swedish meatball is where the business is at. You get about 8 meatballs, mashed potatoes with gravy/cranberry sauce, and a side of steamed veggies. You can add more meatballs for only $1 more, this meal is actually really filling. There's also chicken and veggie meatballs, you can get all the meatballs also at the market to take home to cook. There's many other food here, but I only fuck with the Swedish meatball entrée, it's just so delicious. This is cafeteria style so you grab a tray, line up, and pick your food. You have to bus your own table and there will be no wait service, but what did you expect when you're paying so cheap? There's a microwave if you pick something cold like those pre-packaged sandwiches and want to heat it up. The dining area is decorated modern and clean. Inexpensive and delicious! All the food they have here are good, especially the cinnabons*! I don't care for the meatballs very much but they're not bad. The pasta is great as well as the pizza and desserts. It's very affordable and sometimes they have "eat for free" days where whatever you paid for your meal will deduct from your purchase of $X or more. They have frozen yogurt in a cone for $1 as well as 50 cents hot dogs! The dining area is usually really crowded depending on the time of day you're there but you can usually find a seat. It's kept pretty clean too as there are many workers around who are cleaning the tables. You have to take your tray and put them on one of the racks when you're finished but I feel that's convenient. This is perhaps my 3rd time here at the IKEA restaurant since the store was rebuilt. First of all, the prices are hard to beat, but..... Foods always get cold by the time you sit down to eat. Even made a Latte, but within a few minutes it too was cold. Love the food tray carts. Being handicapped (walk with a cane) the carts make it so much easier to handle everything. Today I tried the Swedish meatballs (sample cup $1.00) with gravy & Lingdonberry jam. Again, cold by the time I sat down to eat. Meatballs didn't impress me at all. Also had a small shrimp topped slice of bread (salad). The shrimps were ok but the greens were wilted & please stop gooping the mayonnaise atop the slice of bread which was soggy at best. Let's go for three strikes. The woman who sat down at the adjoining table had a 2-3 yr old screaming & yelling at her. And, he smelled of an extremely dirty diaper. The set-up is very much cafeteria style and there are lots of large windows that provide a pretty decent view. Everyone raves about the Swedish meatballs and that is what my roommate ordered. I tasted them and didn't see what the big deal was. I was more hyped on my Swedish-American breakfast. I loved everything except the loganberry jam. It was disgusting and I had to spit it out. It had an unexpected stinky and musty taste too it and was too strong for me. There were lots of other options for food and dessert and their promotion of their own products is smart. I've been to Ikea restaurant quite a few times before during shopping. It's quite nice to have a place to eat inside the store. The best is of course the meatball. My kid and I love it. We tried vegetarian meatball and chicken meatball this time, just to see how they taste. It's not too bad but definitely not as good as the classic meatball. Glad to see that smoked salmon meal got larger pieces of salmon now. I would suggest to add a piece of bread or some cracker with the meal though. The dessert is very sweet, probably too sweet for me. I'm sorry to see that there are no more pickled fish in the salad bar. They were my favorite. Breakfast is usually cold, even when we come when the restaurant first opens. (Yes, we do that, we're getting old and that's what us old folk do.) But hey, it's $0.99 and coffee is free 'til 10:00am. They have different deals and specials during the week that make a very inexpensive meal. Like I said, their lunch and dinner items are of higher quality than the breakfast. Good variety, too. We woke up early and dashed down to Renton before IKEA was even open. A few moments after the fuzzy rope was lowered, allowing consumers to wander forth in an overwhelmed haze, I began to get cranky. I get CRANKY. We went to the cafeteria and ordered up two of the Regular Breakfasts and Swedish pancakes. The regular breakfast consisted of a scoop of scrambled eggs (from an ice cream scoop even). The eggs were dry, but other than that the food was good for the price. A few bars of French toast, another scoop of baked potato cubes and a couple slices of bacon. All that for under $2? Anywhere else and it would set you back several dollars and probably would taste the same (just okay). The Swedish pancakes were like crepes folded into quarters, with a generous spray of whipped topping (drooooool I forgot how good whip is, gaaaaaaaah), and a dollop of jam. There more preserves to add, such as goose berry, mandarin orange, and lingon berries, of course. Under $5 for all this! They also sold lunch at the same time, mostly sandwiches, soups, and salad. I've had their meatballs before, which are also 'okay'. I'd have them for lunch if I happen to be here again. Food is sometimes cold but overall it's always still a great cheap experience. The last several times the food has been very warm so i am not sure why mentioned the food being cold. Ikea has plenty of tables which is a plus but make sure if you go on the weekends to get there early at 9 or you might feel like people are cramping your breakfast eating style. $3.25 for my wife and I to get two breakfasts and French toast sticks with free coffee is an awesome deal. I just love the Ikea restaurant. There's something about cheap meatballs and cafeteria style dining that makes it fun. The main thing is the meatballs. And the prices. I mean, there are legitimate items on the menu that cost one dollar and below. ONE DOLLAR. For example, a side of four meatalls is a buck. A hot dog is 75 cents. A kids meal that comes with meatballs, mashed potatoes, and veggies I'd $2.49, and the adult version is $4.99. now the portions are not massive but they're just enough and they're decently tasty. I've always wondered why it is always so busy at Ikea. Cheap food. Sure it's cafeteria food but if you have a family and are on a budget, this is the place to eat. What I thought was genius about this the restaurant is that they have a cart for your food trays so that if you have your kids with you, you still have your hands free. The Swedish meatballs are pretty good and comes in different serving sizes depending on your appetite. I got the 10 meatball combo that comes a beverage and salad. The salad was wilted so I didn't eat it. Otherwise the pretty good for $5. They do have salmon and chicken entrees as well as different kinds of desserts. There food was cold so pain so expensive so just not good at all!!! I got Greek salad and chicken wrap. My husband the salmon and rice and green beans. Then the soda was flavored sparkling water.
