I finally got to try this location which is in a strip mall in Poway, so parking can be full depending on time of day. Approaching the doorway you see the logo and colors and you know that you are in the right spot. Open the door and you are instantly seeing several tables and chairs to sit at, a giant menu board full of a plethora of sandwiches and options, photos with famous celebrities and more. The service was friendly and welcoming. They greeted us soon after we popped in and they finished helping someone in front of us. I picked the number 2 Hollywould's SF Cheesesteak sandwich on the Dutch Crunch bread (yum yum). Large, filling, tasty, quality ingredients. Love Ike's sandwiches and they're always tasty but I do feel like this location always has an ingredient missing. I've ordered a sandwich that was missing the avocado and most recently I got the Friendsgiving sandwich which should come with Turkey, Cranberry, Sriracha and Stuffing and it was missing the stuffing :( Ordering through the app is super easy though and my food was ready at the quoted time. Been going to Ike's Sandwiches for awhile when I was out in the Bay Area and when I found out there was locations in SoCal, I had to hit up this spot! This location in Poway is in a strip mall with Target and located right next to that Target right off of Pomerado Rd. There is plenty of parking also! My go-to sandwich at Ike's would have to be there Madison Bumgarner, which has steak, yellow bbq sauce, habanero, pepper jack cheese on their delicious Dutch Crunch bread. *drool* Their sandwiches are well made, delcious and packed with filling and flavor! There is plenty of seating and they seem to take pride in the restaurant as its well taken care of. Lots of clean tables for those dining in is always a plus! There is a choice of the fountain drinks as well as some bottled in the case next to the fountain drink area. The workers there are pretty quick at making sandwiches and helpful with anything that you may need. Such a welcoming atmosphere too. The Spiffy Tiffy is my all time favorite at Ike's and I've tried it at multiple locations, including Walnut Creek, downtown San Diego, and even the Vegas spot. The Poway location honestly stands out the most. The quality here is always great. The crunch bread is on another level. It's fresh, perfectly crisp, and it makes the whole sandwich taste amazing. It also looks just as good as it tastes, which is rare for a sandwich this loaded. Everything is super fresh and they never skimp on the fillings. I also drive 20 minutes just to come to this location because it's that good. The shop is clean every time I've been in and the staff is great. The workers are young, probably early 20s, but they're respectful, chill, and they keep everything running smoothly. Service is quick and the whole experience is easy. The order came up quickly in spite of being rather busy. On first look it was generous sized sandwich with more than enough meat. All the ingredients looked fresh. The first bite did not disappoint. The Dutch Crunch lived up to its name. Now Dutch yeah I am not sure as I am not an expert on bread and honestly don't know what that even means. It had a nice crunch, The bread was fresh airy yet held up and did not fall apart and on the slightly sweet side. My mom and dad are vegan and come here every week to try one of their sandwiches and decided to share their weekly tradition with us while we are visiting. I really like their choices and how creative every option is. Some of the ingredients used are really interesting, like the orange glaze used in some "chicken" options, or the Dutch crunch bread. We ended up with a Vegan Time Traveler's Wife and a Falling for Ike's, and my little one got a ham and cheese kids sandwich. I really loved the cranberry sauce and "turkey" combo, it is always delicious on a sandwich. The time travelers was soooooooo stinking good though, it definitely stole the show. It comes with fried "chicken" with an awesome orange glaze, sort of like if you put everyone's favorite fast food panda dish in a sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread also has this amazing texture that I would gladly eat for everything if I could. My little one devoured her ham sandwich before the adults even sat down, so clearly it was good. My only complaint is that I wish it had more veggie options. You can add tomatoes, lettuce, jalapeño, banana peppers, or pickles. It is a pretty basic add on selection. It is also kinda pricy, two adult sandwiches and one kids sandwich came to almost $40. The people working are super friendly and very helpful. If you have a question about ingredients or anything, they are more than happy to make sure you are safe eating certain ingredients, which we really appreciate when they serve a combination of meat and vegan options. Inside is pretty much what you expect from a sandwich shop: chairs, chips and a counter. We are WFPB and can't find many places to eat. But this is one of our regular stops. Prices are fair and food is good. The servers are quick and eager to please. Today's order was 2 Vegan Pee Wees with Vegan turkey, heavy purple slaw, heavy lettuce, heavy tomato, heavy red onion and French dressing on a whole wheat bun. Hold the cheese and dirty sauce. It might sound like a little thing, but getting what we like, is important to us. And these sandwiches were perfect. Our servers did a great job. We split one for dinner today and will split the second one for dinner tomorrow. Delicious and filling and just the way we like them. So when I found out there were opening one up near our neighborhood I was ecstatic. And they've continued to be consistent with the quality and deliciousness I feel in love with years ago. My favorite is the Tony Gwynn but you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches here. I don't know if it's the dirty sauce, the bread, or the ingredients but they always hit the spot. I think it could just be the unique combination of flavors. Came back to Ike's on a Wednesday evening after raving about the sandwiches to my girl so of course we had to swing by after her shift. As we walked up, we noticed the place was packed with people waiting; I shoulda turned around to try another day but unfortunately didn't. I noted the posted hours outside before entering clearly state they close at 9:30pm (see my pics). After I placed an order for two sandwiches at 6:50pm, I decided to wait outside since it was packed and I knew it would be awhile before my order came up. As I went outside, I noticed the sign noting their limited hours are until 7pm until 11/15. Had I known that up front, I would have just come back another time, given the number of people ahead of me already. What follows was my girl and I watching for ALMOST AN HOUR as the mass of people waiting slowly whittled down. After they "closed," the guy working the register pitched in to help the other three staff members fill orders faster, but there was clearly a bottleneck somewhere in the process because things were not moving significantly quicker even with a 4-man crew. It didn't help that new customers kept coming in, thinking the shop was still open (again the posted hours outside do not match the ACTUAL hours that are only posted INSIDE), interrupting staff as they struggled to fill orders as quickly as possible. Even a "closed" sign posted outside would have helped. I saw at least half a dozen customers turned away while I WAITED ALMOST AN HOUR. I saw there's and app and you can order online, but I also noted several people who clearly placed online orders waiting around in frustration. My order was literally the second to the last order made that night. The staff were apologetic, but waiting essentially an hour (57 minutes to be exact) for a couple of sandwiches is ridiculous! Needless to say that after her 12-hour shift standing and caring for others, my girl was not happy with me having to wait almost an hour for a sandwich. I get that the shop is new, but having clearer signage outside to post ACTUAL HOURS and a "closed" sign when the place is closed for the day to new orders seems pretty basic to me. I love the sandwiches, but cannot return until Ike's can sort things out and do better. 1 star for the staff doing their best. 1 star for the sandwiches. read more

During my life in San José I used to frequently pass by the Ike's in downtown, however I never ventured. For some reason I had this bad memories of Submarina and Subway sandwich shops where the quality of flavor were lacking. After all I grew up in sandwiches de jamón y queso and I know what is good bread and quality ingredients. I am glad that I put my negative memories aside and finally tried Ike's sandwiches in this grand opening by the Target in Poway. First of all, I almost didn't make it...direct from my U-Jam class to my menage à trois juicy and fatty. Loved it. Devoured in 10 minutes. I was hungry and it was great. And the best? Meeting Ike in person!!! The non shy me became a bit 'dont know what to say know' when I was able to take a selfie with Ike and his cardboard poster version. I felt like I was meeting a celebrity.
