First timer here and I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch experience. First of all, that view is gorgeous and a great reminder of why I love my city! They start you off with a bread basket and also serve afresh bruschetta for the table. It is so refreshing and delicious. We ordered zucchini fries and octopus to share and while I don't eat octopus, everyone at the table enjoyed it. For my main course I ordered fettuccine bolognese and it was delish. I had enough to take home for dinner. The dessert I ordered was the tiramisu and it was perfect!! Omg I wanted more but decided to have a few bites since I was full.
Great Italian food with views by the water. Customer service was on point. Loved the mushroom champagne cream ravioli. The clams were well seasoned but prob try another type next time as I didn't realize the bacon wasn't chopped. We came for my sisters birthday which I left in the reservation note. Usually you have to sneak away and still remind the server but when she ordered desert, they came out singing happy birthday! That made her night. You must get the crème brulee!
There are great Italian restaurants -- and then there is Il Gabbiano. Perched directly on the edge of Biscayne Bay. Sitting outside on the terrace is non-negotiable. The breeze comes off the water softly, boats drift past in the distance, and as the sun sets, the skyline begins to glow. Elegant without feeling stiff. The sound of the water, the clink of glasses, and the scent of garlic and olive oil in the air -- it's transportive. And then the food arrives. The langoustini from Sardinia are nothing short of spectacular. Sweet, delicate, and impossibly fresh, they taste like they came out of the Mediterranean that morning. Prepared simply -- because they deserve nothing less -- the natural sweetness shines through with pristine clarity. It's the kind of dish that makes the whole table go quiet for a moment. It was accompanied by a lovely risotto with zucchini, shrimp and crab. The pasta Bolognese is exactly what homemade should mean. Rich, slow-simmered, deeply comforting. You can taste the patience in the sauce -- layers of flavor built carefully over time, clinging perfectly to fresh pasta with that ideal texture that only comes from being made in-house. It's soulful and authentic, the kind of dish that feels like someone's nonna is still in the kitchen overseeing every detail. And then there are the Carciofo alla Romana. Bold statement: they are the best artichokes you will find outside of Rome. Service matches the setting: polished, attentive, and warmly Italian. There's a sense of old-school hospitality here -- white tablecloths, tableside preparations, generous pours -- that feels increasingly rare in Miami. Il Gabbiano isn't just dinner. It's an experience. A waterfront escape. A reminder that when atmosphere, ingredients, and execution align, magic happens.
My niece recently came to miami on a quick trip. She asked me to take her to a place with steak and pasta. Oh boy. "How do I swing this one" I thought. After some deep internet sleuthing I found II Gabbiano. It was perfect. I wanted to take her somewhere upscale. . Somewhere with a nice view some where with good food and somewhere with (of course) steak and pasta The restaurant is located in the brickell on the opposite side of the intercontinental (I don't know the building sorry). The restaurant is located on a bit of a corner area right off the bay with a beautiful view. The staff was very attentive. She just wanted pasta with a cheese white sauce -- done. No questions asked and no snooty upper class judgement. The ambience is another posh spot where I noticed there was a large amount of tables relative to the space but not at all over crowded. The food was very good. You must try their risotto. Rice wasn't over cooked and presentation didn't look like baby food like so many other places that claim risotto but really it's just rice mush. The calamari was fluffy and crunchy -- and here is the hook -- not greasy at all. The steak was done to a perfect medium rare and the pasta an excellent, on-the other-side-of al dente. After dinner we where walking back to the car and took a moment to soak in a bit of the view and chat about old times and new adventures. So if you're looking for a night out to enjoy a great dinner and upscale vibe -- II Gabbiano should be on your short list.
I recently went to this restaurant on my birthday a few days ago I was craving some authentic Italian cuisine, and this restaurant did not disappoint. We made reservations and we were seated rightaway. As soon as we sat down, we were served bruschetta and asked what we wanted to drink This restaurant is perfect for a date group setting hosting a baby shower, etc. they have indoor and outdoor rec seating and the views within the restaurant are unmatched. The waiters were very kind and attentive Now the food there's so many choices. It's overwhelming, which is always a good problem. I had the Spaghetti alla Carbonara and the Fettuccine alla Bolognese. Both dishes were fantastic . And since it was my birthday I got dessert which was also delicious. I highly recommend coming to the this restaurant. You won't be disappointed . I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu
A magnificent restaurant with a great view of the bay, delicious food, and very, very welcoming and friendly staff.
Went to Il Gabbiano for a work dinner with colleagues. It is one of those places where the ambience is doing most of the heavy lifting--and honestly, crushing it. Five-star vibes, phenomenal waterfront views, and the kind of setting that makes you feel important even if you're just quietly judging your plate. If restaurants were scored purely on scenery and mood, this place would be an easy 5-stars! Now... the food. I had the Filleto Al Barolo, which was good but not great--solid effort, no fireworks. The mozzarella Di Bufala for an appetizer? Also good but not great. Reliable. Dependable. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which tasted suspiciously like flan--again, good but not great. Not bad by any means, just not something I'll be telling stories about years from now. Service was decent, professional, nothing dramatic outside of me yelling for servers attention to order dessert after being skipped when dessert orders were being taken . Bottom line: Il Gabbiano is a fantastic place to impress, celebrate, or soak in Miami luxury. Just don't expect the food to outshine the view--it knows its role, and it plays it well enough.
It's my first time at an Italian restaurant called Il Gabbiano, located on the water in Miami, the day before my cruise to Lima, Peru. This restaurant has a great vibe, and the staff is excellent--they often bring things even before you think to ask for them! I had the chili and sea bass, while my wife had the gnocchi with shrimp. I also enjoyed a glass of Santa Margherita white wine with my meal. Perhaps it's the best sea bass I've ever had; the texture, flavor, and presentation were all on point. The overall cost is at the upper limit of normal, but it's well worth every penny. I will certainly return to this place when I'm in the area again.
We visited Il Gabbiano while in Miami, FL for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and I recommend enjoying a meal outside to take in the beautiful view and lovely weather. Although it was crowded when we arrived, we were able to get seated with very little wait, and the staff made everything seamless. A great spot for a leisurely lunch with fantastic food and ambiance!
One of the Best Italian restaurants I've been to in a Long time. I've now eaten here twice in the last week and it is consistently Great ! While it's a somewhat expensive restaurant, it represents Great value for what you get. Large portions, outstanding quality and some really nice added touches that put IL Gabbiano over the top. Our recent Langostino appetizer came with an added seafood risotto side on the plate that was amazing. It could have been it's own appetizer. I've tried the following things and each one was better than the next. Veal Saltimbocca, Veal chop Gorgonzola, Veal Parmigiana and Veal chop Valdostano, Lobster ravioli, gnocchi with prosciutto and more. Absolutely wonderful. The service is excellent and the wine list is pretty good. You can sit inside or out along the water. If I could afford to, I would eat here every week. Please give them a shot. I promise that you won't be disappointed.
Ciao, Before retiring, I used to go to Il Gabbiano at least twice a week. Now I dont go to downtown very often but always try to visit one of my favorite restaurant in Miami. I love the Risotto fruti de mare, costoleta milanesa and ossobucco. Il Gabbiano can transform a simple orange in one of best desert. Service is always impecable. Grazie a mile Gabbiano.
Absolutely one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Service was on point, oyster Rockefeller, chicken/asparagus, poached pears with marscapone and fresh cream and fruit. The spicy Italian focaccia, made fresh in house was delicious. The view is amazing and the ambiance is quiet. This restaurant is the sister store of Il Mulino in NYC. We met one of the partners of the operation and when you show up at 6am for the delivery to make sure it is correct and you are still standing in the building meeting customers and insuring the food and delivery is on point, that is ownership.

Great option in Downton Miami! Amazing location with water views- recommend sitting outdoors. Food was great but their specials are a must. Ossobucco with Parmesan Risotto and Salt Baked Whole Branzino have to be the best dishes there. Take my word for it! read more

The service was great, as well as the food! A MUST is the Vitello al Gorgonzola. The lamb chops are also a great choice. Must start with the octopus carpaccio. The tuna tartare was not a great choice. View is incredible, must request to eat outside. All in all, an excellent experience. read more

This was our second time here, and the place is nice, but the best part is sitting by the water as you have a great dinner and some wine. The food was excellent and service was on point. read more

Top notch food! Loved the atmosphere and Miami views. The bread service is to die for with fresh cheese bread and fried zucchini. So much food that I didn't get an app. I had the sausage, broccoli rabe pasta which was a good size serving and just delicious period. Service was wonderful. Finished the meal with Italian ricotta cheesecake topped with fresh fruit and omg it was a slice of heaven. It's a swanky restaurant so be prepared to come out of your pockets deep but worth it in my opinion. Can't wait to go back. read more

By far, probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Miami and the most bang for your buck. Some other Miami restaurants charge exorbitant prices and offer VERY MEDIOCRE food. But not here. The higher prices come with a great view and a bunch of APPETIZERS!!(breads, bruschetta, fresh cheese, zucchini chips pictured below) And if you don't want to spend tons of money, you don't have to. There's $15-20 dollar options, but also $100 plates, so be aware. This was my first time coming, but I will most definitely be coming back soon. read more
My company had a corporate lunch here for the President's retirement and I was lucky to score an invite. I had always wanted to check out this institution of Italian food and it certainly did not disappoint. The location itself deserves 5 stars with an amazing view of the ocean. I would say that you definitely have to dine here while there is still light out as the view is gorgeous. We were on a pre-set menu but luckily they had the porcini mushroom ravioli as one of the choices along with the papardelle. OMFG, I should have just asked for double portions of the ravioli as it was definitely as good as advertised on many Yelp reviews. The papardelle was just OK though. For my entree I had the snapper special and it was absolutely amazing. My portion was so large that it could have fed two but my fat ass ate the whole thing. We ended the lunch with an assortment of desserts which I could barely eat since I was so full. Service her was exemplary. We had a private room with 30 people and I felt as if the staff was on top of our every request. The food came out synchronized and accurate which is a feat in itself. Overall I was very impressed with Il Gabbiano and can't wait to come again on my own. read more
Out of all the restaurants I have been to in Miami, Il-Gabbiano has one of the most breathtaking views overlooking the water. The waiters are very attentive and provided us high quality dairy-free recommendations. Although this place is a bit pricey, the portion size, quality, and atmosphere make up for the cost. My favorite dish was the chocolate cake, it was more of a ganache that was super rich and satisfying. read more

Ok, I don't do this often because I am very selective and tend to have very high expectations on service and quality. However, I must say that I just had one of the best culinary experiences of the last 20 years. The taste of the food, from the appetizer to desert was truly one of the very best experiences I have had amongst the best cities I've been. From my favorite city of NY to San Francisco and on to my home town of Miami, this is one of a kind experiences for a foodie. Excellent martinis and cosmos, fantastic grilled octopus and the lamb chops, the veal, the risotto and everything else all the way to the tiramisu, was excellent and some of the best I've had. To no surprise, you have the owner looking over every dish and monitoring the guests experiences the entire time. Truly committed to excellence! Bravo!! It truly makes a difference and a wonderful experience for all of us foodies!! Thank you! read more

Wonderful restaurant with great service, view and food was delicious. The bread that arrived as soon as we were seated was great, my mojito that I ordered was on point. For food I ordered the lobster ravioli it was so yummy, but the best was the tiramisu. I'm not a tiramisu fan, but this one was the best. Definitely will come back. read more
Il Gabbiano is in my opinion your finest Italian option in Miami, I can't describe the so many dishes I have had here, you just have to come for the view, for the experience and overall for their food! Just know it's on the expensive side because it's worth it As usual delicious food and excellent service!! The best Italian restaurant in Miami read more

Located in One Miami in the very back of the building since it is off of the water. If you're lost and you see Wolfgang's Steakhouse, you are close. You just have to go along the water to the back and you will see the restaurant (walking or driving). They have valet right by the restaurant for a good price compared to the first garage you will see (next to Wolfgangs Steakhouse). This Italian restaurant is SOOO FANCY! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars and I rarely feel this way about a place. We came here to celebrate my birthday and I loved it. We sat outside on a beautiful day, along the water and it was breathtaking. We ordered the filet mignon with spinach and a ravioli special. The filet mignon was a really good size, so tender and cooked to perfection! I am still dreaming about this dish lol The specials for the day will not be on the menu. The waiter/waitress will know it by heart and will recite it for you. No need to order appetizers because the bread, cheese, chips, tomato sauce, etc were more than enough to calm our hungry before our entrees arrived. The customer service was outstanding. So professional, courteous and on point overall. I definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for something special that has great food with amazing views. read more

Hands down hardest restaurant to find, especially for your uber driver (be warned). Good news is the view is amazing when you do find it. My first experience was part of a large group and was quite disappointed with what they call as a PDR. It's oddly shaped / decorated, but what I can gather it was what they were given. Thankfully service made up for it. They were very attentive even for an awkwardly seated room. The food was good, no complaints with the food or service but nothing would make me recommend it. I did experiment the epitome of hospitality with one of the servers (wish I noted his name) who escorted me to that bathroom when o asked for directions. His actions pleasantly surprised me in the best way. read more

Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Located right on the water by intercontinental, Il Gabbiano had amazing views. The service was super attentive and very helpful when it came to recommendations and they even made me a dish not on the menu (spicy vodka rigatoni) which I highly recommend!! The food is good-great. The service is excellent and the view is amazing. The only reason I am not giving this restaurant a 5th stars is because the decor is very dated and cheap looking. In addition one of the pasta dishes was over cooked. The sauces were some of the best I've had. read more

VERY VERY surprised that this has received such great reviews on Yelp. Even more surprised that there is a common "very pricey" thread in all the reviews. It's not cheap but it's also not the most expensive meal ever. Everyone made it seem like this would leave me home waiting to dine out again come November. I was excited to be able to dine outside and enjoy my city. I loved the food rush upon sitting down. The parm was spectacular and I enjoyed the tableside carving. I asked for seconds, got a "look" from the waiter, but got served anyway. The zucchini was soggy . The bruschetta was very nice as was the garlic toast. We ordered the beef carpaccio which was bland. After recently having an amazing one at STK, this was a huge let down. I had the special porcini ravioli with truffle oil which was very good but nowhere near Casa D Angelo or Vialetto. Sorry. Hate to compare but I have no choice. With all the restaurants out there, why settle? Ordered the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and, READY FOR THIS? PF Changs has a better one! Yup, I said it. Hands down. This was dry, lacking sugar and uninspiring. At least the espresso was hot and authentic. I would like to try it again, especially with all the great reviews. For now, overall for me it is just OK. I still had a nice dinner time because of the location and decor. Did not feel like the staff was overly attentive as mentioned here. Everyone was nice but a little on the aloof side. read more
