Il Pastaiolo has a romantic, airy vibe to it -- just one block away from Ocean Drive, it's close to all the action of South Beach with a little less chaos to deal with. The staff are young and friendly, though the menu is a bit pricey for what you get (but, that's par-for-the-course in this area). The pasta was great, but I won't lie and say I wasn't a bit disappointed by how basic/prepackaged the salad felt. The meatballs were also a bit of a letdown, so I might recommend skipping apps and just getting entrees here. Overall, it was a good meal, but I don't think it quite lived up to the hype we were expecting from the reviews online.

We had another very nice visit! The food continues to be out of this world, from gnocchi to angel hair to fettuccine, they do everything right! This last visit we missed a little bit on the service, it was a slower day and our waitress seemed stretched thin. Previously, we've always ordered wine but this time a friend ordered an espresso martini, and it was not very good. All of the cocktails here are pre-mixed (you can't order anything not on the menu), which is kind of a downer. We look forward to another visit, but will stick to wine.

Omg the food is delicious . I ordered lobster ravioli and it was so good , packing flavor , and the ingredients went so well together . I definitely recommend this place if you like eating out doors and wanna try some amazing pasta or the other things they offer here. EVEN THE SERVERS ARE AWESOME HERE

A very unexpected surprise on vacation. When you are looking for comfort while vacationing, Il Pastaialo is the perfect place. The restaurant is quaint without being too small, Checkered tables dot the interior with an authentic menu. The clam linguini was fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly tilt. The margarita pizza was sweet with fresh buffalo mozzarella covering the surface. The wait staff was accommodating and very attentive, it was a perfect night.

Nice dinner experience in this all outdoor Italian cafe on Collins Ave. service was great and their pasta is made fresh. Opted for the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and a side Caesar salad. As with everything else in the area, it was pricey, but it was good! Lots of restaurants to choose from in Miami Beach area, can't go wrong trying this spot out!

We were here in June and went back again it was so good. We started with the meatball and they were delicious. Each of us got our own pizza so we could take some home. Let me just say everyone at our table was happy with our choices. The service was excellent and we ate outside. Next time we will probably eat inside. .

Service was excellent here! Food was good. They gave you fresh warm bread to start. Lots of options on the menu and cute outdoor patio with great people watching on the street.

Patio Restaurant with an Italian experience. With all the amazing reviews we had to try this place. We were seated on time with our reservations. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This place seems like its a family run operation. Tried the Caesar salad. The ingredients were fresh and not overdressed. Overall taste was good but didn't over impress. My kids ordered some pasta dishes which they both said were excellent and they both looked amazing. The portions were generous and well presented. We also tried the pizza which was okay as the crust was very basic and no one was overly impressed. I also noticed they only have two pizzas on the menu and my personal recommendation would be to take it out. I also tried the octopus which was very good. Also not incredible as it lacked some of the char. It was also slightly small compared to some of the photos I saw online for $30. I felt it was slightly underwhelming. The desserts were amazing as the table side tiramisu was an excellent presentation, the Nutella cake was really good. A little dry but overall very good. The cheesecake was also excellent, very light and definitely something I would recommend. My recommendation is to stick with the pastas as that seems to be their strong point. All of their options seem to be there to fill a menu. For $250 with no alcohol it seems high but apparently this is South Beach pricing for family friendly restaurants. A solid choice for pasta lovers.

We loved our experience at Il Pastaiolo. We made a reservation for a Saturday night and were seated right away. It had a cute outdoor area with lemon decorations. Our server, Leandro, was the best. Attentive, friendly. We never had to ask for more water. He was always on top of it. On to the food. We loved the free bread and the oil and vinegar to dip it in. The caprese salad was just okay. The burrata was great but the lettuce had a funny taste. Our favorite was the mortadella pizza. That is why we went to the restaurant in the first place. And it did not disappoint- so delicious.

We came here for a Friday night birthday dinner. We had a reservation but didn't actually need it. I'm not sure if there is inside seating, but we sat outside on a nice night. We both got a glass of red wine, and we decided to split the risotto mushrooms and gnocchi cacio e pepe and truffle. They were both good, but I think I liked the gnocchi a little better than the risotto. All in all, service was fine. Friendly throughout, we felt a little rushed at the start, but then it took a while to get the bill ay the end. I'm not sure if it's a Miami thing, but the automatic 20% service charge for a party of two was a bit of a surprise...that and being charged $8 for room temperature still water in an open bottle.

Must be one of the best pizzas I've had. The toppings are amazing and flavorful. Food came fast and our waiter was amazing! He offered to show us what everything looked like. The interior was very impressive. Well decorated

Cute little steet front restaurant with a fun vibe, adorable decorations and AMAZING food!!! We had bruschetta, Filet Mignons, Pasta Alia Nerano & Shrimp, cannoli, espresso martini & limoncello...OMG! Delicioso! Our waitress was Adriana and she was so friendly, attentive and sweet!!! Her energy and vibe really made my Mom's birthday dinner special! This is a MUST!! Bob appetit!

I looked over at the rest of my party and told them that we had to eat there. We made our way to the host and ask for seating inside... well, I was wearing a ball cap, so I wasn't allowed to dine inside, but the roadside seating was offered... hey, I understand rules of apparel, but when you are appealing to "World Cup" fans... you could do worse than someone wearing just a ball cap. I understand that rules are rules, so I was satisfied with where we were seated at... besides, I was excited with the great smells that were emanating from inside of the restaurant. As I began to look at the menu, I will admit that I was a little shocked with the prices of the cuisine, but I got to thinking that this could be a high end joint, I was ok with it. I was financially prepared. A female server came over to our table and asked to take our drink order. I guess I must have offended her when she offered to serve us Aqua Panna water in the liter bottle for $12.00 a bottle, and my response was that my country raising refused to let me pay $12.00 a bottle for water, especially when you can order a case of it off of Amazon for $36.00 for a case of twelve bottles. I decided that I would settle for a good old southern staple of "sweet tea" to drink, which was seconded by another person in my group, while the third person decided to have a Sprite. Our server left us to go and fill our drink order and finally made her way back to us after about 15 minutes of being gone to advise us, that the "bar" informed her that they no longer had any sweet tea for the night. The time was 9:30pm and they were open for business till 12:00am, so I was a bit set back by this, but I wanted a steak. I ended up ordering a plain old tap water to drink because, well, I was not going to pay $12 for a bottle of water... I was not dying of thirst yet. So we ended up getting a lemonade brought to the table, a glass of water, and an eight ounce glass bottle of Sprite, at $5.00 a bottle. We got our drinks, so now let's talk about our food. I ordered a 14 ounce New York Strip steak, medium well... I'm getting older and don't digest uncooked food so well anymore, sadly. The rest of my party ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and the third finished off with the chicken parm plate. Our sides that we ordered were roasted brussel sprouts, and a loaded baked potato without chives. Now comes the good part... if you are still here, you are going to find out if they can cook a good steak or not... Well, we got our food after another lengthy wait. Now let me tell you, the guy who brought our food gave me one of the most beautiful cuts of steak that I think I have ever seen. It was definitely a New York Strip. I could already tell from the juices running in my plate that my steak was definitely undercooked. I looked over at my party's food and see the chicken parm, and I'm telling it looked and smelled great. The filet mignon smelled great but it appeared to be over cooked. From what I could tell, it looked like the cook got the order backwards. We cut into the respective steaks and my suspicion was right, the Filet Mignon was over cooked and the New York Strip was way undercooked. At this time, it is getting late. It is after 10pm and I had just finished a six hundred mile drive, I would have eaten my shoe if it was served right. I cut into my steak and began eating it. There was no flavor on the meat at all, I guess they don't use seasoning, other than the grilled garlic clove, that is to be used when eating the steak. I did get to taste the filet mignon, and it had way more flavor thank New York Strip. Sadly, I must have drawn the short straw on this meal. I was hungry and I was refusing to let a $70 steak go to waste, so I ate the entire cut of this steak. To bring this to a close I want to address the billing. They added a service charge to the receipt, which is something I have been used to if there was a large party, but for them to serve three people, I felt we should have been the once's to decide on the amount of the tip we leave our serve. This is to keep the server honest and make sure they take of the customer. The odd thing is I usually tip over 20 percent because I have family who are part of hospitality business. They make their living on tips. This night it didn't total up to what normally give... I was not inclined to give it either. I understand the goal is to make money, but I am a believer in taking care of your customer...Maybe it was the way I was dressed, or how I sounded with my southern draw, I feel like this restaurant really misread me and my group
