I haven't been to this location in a while even though I'm about 2 blocks away... For whatever reason, I felt moved to go twice in a week. So many unique flavors and such kind and patient staff. The first time this week, I stopped by after omakase at sushi by bou, a small cone with espresso and brown butter gelato....I did get a taste of the cucumber gelato which I loved. The woman behind the counter was so sweet. I went back last night for the cucumber gelato....they didn't have it out but the young man behind the counter said he could take out a container from the freezer for me. I didn't want to make a fuss but he assured me he'd love to get me it. I was only going to get a small but because of the gesture I had to at least get a medium. The other young man that rang me up was also very sweet. They refused to let me leave without a bag for the gelato and cone on the side. That was also a nice touch. TYSM! Came here on a Saturday night for a sweet treat. I got a small gelato with both chocolate and vanilla birthday cake ice cream. I was a bit disappointed because it didn't taste like the original "birthday cake" flavor. It was just chocolate and vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. We stopped by il laboratorio del gelato after dinner at La Bohème. I was impressed by the number of flavors in the case, as well as the variety of other desserts (e.g. COOKIES!) in the store. They had lots of dairy and sorbet options. My boyfriend and I shared a grape sorbet and honeydew sorbet in a small cup (which comes with up to 2 flavor choices). While I thought the sorbet was very refreshing, there was a strange aftertaste in both flavors(?) that made me question how much I really liked the sorbets here. Bit of an uneven experience: the honey crisp apple sorbet was *godly* -- refreshing, well balanced, and utterly delicious. The cucumber gelato was a letdown, tasting neither of cucumber or cream. I pushed it to the side and demolished every bit of the honey crisp sorbet. My friend got the Thai chili chocolate (excellent and not too spicy) along with browned butter (underwhelming and one-note) and hazelnut (tasteless). Stepped into this amazing gelato spot on my walk around Hoboken. I had originally came in because of the sign advertising their la colombe espresso, so I was delighted to see they offered affogatos and I could satisfy both of my cravings in one. Surprisingly, the affogato is very fairly priced compared to the rest of their menu, only $10 for 2 scoops of your choice, "drowning in espresso". With the small size 2 scoop for $8 and medium 3 scoop for $11, I thought this was a good deal. I went for the brown butter and cookies and cream, the brown butter was super rich whereas the latter was a tad lighter, both paired nicely with the espresso. They had tons of other flavors, including fruity sorbets like pear and mango that I would definitely want to try next time if I were to get a regular scoop (but how could I pass up another affogato). Love the outdoor seating and the workers were efficient and helpful. This Italian gem is definitely a must for gelato and espresso lovers! read more

Good! Been meaning to stop in and glad we did. They have a pretty great selection and some seating outside. We ordered 3 flavors and shared - I believe they were raspberry, lychee and salted caramel - it was good! Not the best I ever had and a little pricey but I do feel the quality is good. I love the gelato here!! Amazing flavors. Very unique. It was nice and cool inside. My boyfriend and I stopped in one night. I tried the hazelnut and brown butter flavors night one. And night two had the rosemary, basil, and sage lol. My boyfriend had the peppermint, oatmeal, fig, and mint. He liked them! And he's not a huge fan of gelato. He said the peppermint was his favorite. Then fig and oatmeal. I loved all of mine. We will definitely go again. The two girls working let us sample some we were interested in. Very nice girls. I've been wanting to try this gelato shop for a while now; was waiting for it to get warmer. I saw an Instagram ad and they had 300 flavors that are in rotation. I tried the earl grey tea flavor in a sugar cone. It was pretty good, not overly sweet. Texture was a little strange. The only reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because it's quite expensive for the scoop you get. It was a tiny scoop for $5. I do wish there was a board or a QR code you could scan so you can see all the flavor options easily. Casual seating available inside and out. The ice cream is as good as you'd expect and I appreciate the interesting flavors. I had Turkish Fig and Cardamom flavors, loved them both, and the Mr had Birthday Cake and Salted Caramel, both also good. I thought the price was good as the ice creams are high quality and they are dense and rich. They are known for their innovative and exotic flavors - just the words I live my life by! In the spirit of innovation and adventure, I got three different flavors that you don't see a lot in other ice cream places - Ginger, Orange, and Mastic (I had to Google this one lol). I don't know if I didn't order the right flavors, or if I had too high of expectations, but I was not impressed by these flavors. The best word I could use to describe them is... interesting! I was underwhelmed by the depth / intensity of the flavors. I was hoping for stronger tastes/scents of the flavor elements. I was thrilled when Il Iaboratorio Del Gelato opened in Hoboken and was eager to try it. So, when my friend suggested stopping there after our dinner, I quickly agreed. I was in awe of their substantial and interesting variety of flavors, which spanned both gelato and sorbet. It was a tough decision, but I opted for a cup of the Black Currant and Braeburn Apple Sorbets, which were both terrific! The fruit flavors were very natural and ripe; they did not taste syrupy sweet or artificial. I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other varieties. The ice cream here is one of the BEST i've ever had. I wish I can leave a 5 star review, but the customer service is one of the worst. I've been here twice. First time I was here, i asked about flavors. I asked, "what does the Turkish Fig taste like?" and the guy says... "uhh.... i dont know. Turkish fig." Wow. Just wow. Okay so i went with a flavor that I couldn't go wrong with. And it tasted great. Second time here, the same guy was here. Also standing there with a bad attitude. Problem is, he is the only one with the attitude while everyone else was helpful. Is he the manager? Or does he get special treatment because he is the boss's friend? Flavors are good BUT this location doesn't have a blender so there are no drinks on the menu, and the prices have gone up considerably in the last year. A $10 affogato is a bit steep. Staff is nice and there's a good flavor selection though. read more

Ice cream and gelato is great and the girls working there are sweet--however this is the second time I've come here in a couple of weeks and there is no soap available in the bathroom. I carry around soap sheets, just in case-- but how do the counter girls wash their hands--hopefully there is a separate employee bathroom. Edit** with soap!!! I asked them about it and they were like "we know" but didn't say anything else...it's not their fault. But the owner/manager should be making sure that there is soap available at a food establishment. read more

I can't comment much on the flavors...but I would like to make a comment about their customer service. It was approaching their closing time and there was only one customer in there. I went in with my husband and we decided to hold our Maltese dog. As we walked in, there was a female staff member saying to one of her colleagues (loud enough where I could hear her) saying "Tell her only service dogs are allowed". Yes, in fact I checked afterwards and there was a sign outside saying no pets allowed but I think I didn't mind her enforcing the company policy but not saying it in such a rude and obnoxious tone. I didn't bring my wallet so I was just planning to choose my flavor and I'll leave my dog as my husband pays. I just told her "Let me choose my flavor and I'll go". She gave me the most obnoxious and arrogant stare. At that pointed, I literally just stormed out. I think it is not wrong that you enforce your company policy and tell me politely that they don't allow pets in there. I would've apologetically left with my dog, but don't be rude to your customers.
