Stumbled upon this magical place after our visit to the Fontana di Trevi. This area is a definite tourist trap, but we were attracted by their delicious poster on the street.
RESTAURANT:
The aesthetic is very sleek and modern. The mirrors and pop of black and gold gave me the Great Gatsby vibe. The ice cream cases are in glass and their products are prominently displayed in beautiful and colorful order. They have a lab window where you can watch them work their magic, folding gelatos on huge mounds. They have a nice dining area with lovely, cushiony chairs but again, as it was packed, we were unable to sit inside by the huge blue windows. Although, sitting outside was not to bad, it truly gave us the European vibe as we people watched.
SERVICE:
During our visit, we only had mild interactions at the counter as the place was packed. The staff tried to be patient while we deliberate on what flavor to get. They do try to speak English but honestly, I think we got through it by just pointing at the cup size and flavor...LOL...
FOOD:
Other than the creamy gelatos, they popsicles of all colors, design and flavor that looks like works of art. And they also have a selection of coffees if you're not in the mood for something cold. My son opted for a Nutella and mango gelato in a waffle cone. And as expected, it was to die for! It did not taste anything like I had before....like an artificial mango flavor. This was soft, creamy, rich and just naturally sweet. And of course, the Nutella was just as heavenly. And we had to fight over their signature waffle cone cookie.
Overall, this was a nice experience. You really can't go wrong with any gelato in Rome. It's within walking distance of many of the popular tourist spots. There is plenty of seating outside if inside is not available. Menu is also in English, and we were able to use their restroom so that was a plus. Price wise, it's what you would expect to pay for a place within a touristy area. Give it a try! read more
