One of the best gelato places in Rome. Beautiful interiors and lots of goodies to chose from. I always get the chocolate mint gelato and this one right here was the best one. Just the right amount of sweetness. Yummmm. They have So many cookies and specialty drinks that makes it hard to chose from. We also got cappuccino and apricot cookies to enjoy while taking a break from walking. If you are in the area stop by, you won't be disappointed....

I can understand why people were dazzled by how beautiful the decorations are, you feel like you are in a boudoir or a royal palace but I felt I was all immaterial to what's it's all about. Unless you have a sweet tooth, this place is not for you, the ice cream is so creamy n so sweet just like in America so what's the point of having an Italian delicacy? Gelato in every gelateria I have been to in my 12x to Italy is very subtle it's in between a sorbet n an ice cream. They literally have mashed mango so fruity n delicious, limone is so refreshing especially if you have it in Sorrento where the gigantic lemons come from. All fresh ingredients n usually 6 euros for 3 scoops. I told the guy I wanted sorbet but he gave me ice cream, I was exhausted n didn't see this place didn't have sorbetto, the mango was ok, the lemon was too sweet then he put a tiny amount of whip cream n charged me 50c extra. The cannoli was so sweet n the filling stuck to my teeth, it was really gross it was like CRAZY GLUE not a joke. The bill came out to 14 euros about 17$, cut throat pricing. 15 months ago I stayed in the hotel in front of the pantheon n there was another gelateria right 3 doors from Don Nino, it was a sit down ice cream parlor, this place is a tourist trap, I like chandeliers but I prefer no chandelier but good gelato.

My last gelato of my vacation was one of the best! I ordered a melon and coconut cone, and it was amazing. The cantaloupe flavor was perfect. Everyone in my party remarked how good the flavors were. This shop is very close to the Parthenon and definitely worth a stop.

I think this was like 4th or 5th Gelato places we stopped while in Rome.. This place was also very good.. Pastachio was very yummy.. All their Gelato had good texture and flavor. Can't complain about this place.

Solid gelato, Don Nino didn't stand out much from any of the other dime-a-dozen gelato spots in Rome. However, this is a really good option and would recommend it if you're close by. They also have pastries and macaroons too!

Passed by here a few times before stopping to get gelato. It was good, and I liked that it came with a wafer on top. I got the hazelnut and lemon flavors, I wouldn't recommend mixing these two as they do not go well together, but they tasted good separately!

Don Nino, by the Spanish Steps, scammed me. I went here and ordered the "Continental Breakfast" off the menu for 16 Euro, which included pancakes, toast, yogurt, and coffee. I was only given toast and coffee, and when I asked about the pancakes and yogurt, the waitress said the menu was wrong and it doesn't include that. And then I showed her the menu, saying it clearly DOES include pancakes and yogurt, and she said she'd make it for me. 1/2 an hour later the pancakes did not come, and I left after sitting there for almost two hours. I paid 16 euro for a small cappuccino and toast. Don't go here. Scammers and horrible, slow service.

When in Rome... Popped into this super cute dessert spot after visiting the Trevi Fountain and it was just what I was looking for. Visually appealing with lots of colorful dessert and gelato options. Reasonably priced and super refreshing on a hot summer day. Definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Cute little pastry shop located just outside of Pantheon, I didn't realize it was a chain until I walked throughout Rome but either way, I enjoyed my Caffè latte and mini lemon cake from Don Nino today. The service was ok (they forgot to bring me my lemon cake after I ordered and had to ask for it again a few mins later lol) but my Caffè latte was yummy and there was free WiFi and bathrooms were clean so no complaints there!

Such a nice spot! It caught our eye while we were walking and I'm so glad we stopped. I usually get hazelnut gelato but I was feeling adventurous. I got the mango gelato and oh my goodness it was delicious.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting the Trevi fountain and pantheon areas. I can literally not stop thinking about the pistachio croissant!! It tastes like fresh pistachio peanut butter, I wish I could have ordered a tub of it and brought it home with me! The cappuccino is okay. The orange juice is pulp heaven. The inside is adorable. Service is good.

Charger is 50 euros for 3 scoops of ice cream because we were American. Ice cream was ok, will never go again.

Gelato OK, but total rip off tourist trap. They will bill you more than what the prices say and don't care.

In that review I warned gelato keeps melting even though it is covered in a chocolate shell. This time when I received my Black Cherry with a chocolate shell, I quickly took my photo and broke into my treat. Still got a little messy on a particularly hot day, but not totally out of control. Even eating quickly I really enjoyed my gelato with those broken pieces of chocolate shell. This previously very popular spot had no line this time, good timing for us. There is no seating so expect to be eating on your feet. We looked forward to a return visit and they did not disappoint.

Frigidarium had a small storefront with room for a few guests at a time. Our timing was lucky, because we had arrived ahead of a big crowd. When I ordered and looked over my shoulder I saw that the line was snaking around the corner. Service was fast though, so people were in and out considerably quickly. I ordered the Frigidarium flavor and one that looked like a berry vanilla swirl with chocolate bits. I'm sure my mouth dropped when they asked if I wanted white chocolate, milk chocolate, or whipped cream at no additional charge. Based on the flavor palate I got white chocolate that becomes a hard shell when poured on. Loved everything about my gelato. I enjoyed both flavors with the white chocolate, and I got a bonus chocolate cookie from the Frigidarium flavor.

Tucked along the lively streets of Trastevere, this little spot delivers gelato with genuine craftsmanship and flavors that taste as authentic as the city around you. The first thing you notice is the freshness. Each flavor looks vibrant--not overly piled or artificially glossy--and you can tell everything is made with real ingredients. One spoonful confirms it: the gelato is creamy, smooth, and beautifully balanced. The fruit flavors burst with natural sweetness, especially the mango and strawberry, while the classics like pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate showcase that rich, deep, true-to-ingredient taste that only well-made gelato can achieve. Their specialty flavors are equally impressive--unique without feeling gimmicky--and everything is served at the perfect temperature so the texture stays silky, not icy. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the cones have that fresh baked aroma that adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to offer suggestions, and patient even when you're debating between ten flavors that all look incredible. The atmosphere reflects Trastevere itself--relaxed, friendly, and full of character. Whether you're ending a meal, cooling off on a sunny Roman afternoon, or simply exploring one of the city's most spirited neighborhoods, GELATERIA alla SCALA is a sweet stop worth seeking out. A delicious reminder that some of Rome's best moments come in a cup--or a cone.

If you don't know what real gelato should look like check my photos. First it shouldn't be piled high into mountains. Secondly the colors should be natural. We said our goodbyes to the tour and the gelato was so good I wanted more. We ended up getting an affogato and a few more scoops in a bowl the second time. This was very close to where Julius Caesar was assassinated so we walked over and checked it out. When done I couldn't resist and had to go back a third time as I really wanted to try the orange gelato. The owner laughed as he couldn't believe we were back again. The orange was so good!
