The best of the best. If you know you know, Il Moro is a hidden gem. The bolognese is absolutely my favorite anywhere, the artichoke salad is excellent and don't sleep on the soups. First off let's just start off with the service. Our server was amazing and didnt skip a beat! I work up the street and do business with one of the tenants in the same building so they recommend we go here for lunch today. The menu had plenty of things to choose from and they also have specials of the day. I went with the seafood pasta,. This had shrimp, scallops, clams, muscles, and two kinds of fish in a wine sauce. I asked for no muscles and no fish in mine. They added more clams and I was fine with that. The food was good but lacking salt, pepper, and garlic... They do not leave salt and pepper on the table you will have to ask for it. The ambiance is great and it is a nice place. They have a large patio and alot.of inside dining. The dessert was okay didnt have much flavor only thing I tasted was whipped cream the food was a 3 out of 5 but I will give them a 4 due to the wonder service. read more

I have been going to Il Moro for dinners and special occasions for many years, and my extended family has had large parties on the terrace, including a 100+ person 90th birthday recently. I can't say enough good things about this place. The service is personal and relational, and the new owners (who worked here before the prior owners moved away) are carrying on the tradition of great food and service. My family comes here because the food is always fresh and delicious, and the ambiance is superb. I love the fountain and greenery which create an exotic atmosphere, noteworthy in the urban location of central West Los Angeles. I love the lamb chops, the cioppino, and the bolognese. Came here for a late lunch and it was somewhat hard to find because the front of the restaurant isn't distinct. I was highly pleased once I found the location! You're greeted by the bar/lounge area as you pass the glass doors and you will have to walk down the walkway to check in. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the artwork on the was pleasant to the eyes. I thought the restaurant was OK. I came here with my friend and her daughter from Mother's Day. The burrata 4/5 was a very fresh and I loved all the vegetables in the salad, but I wish it had more flavor?! The lamb chops -2/5 were way overcooked. My sister and i took my mom for Mother's Day late lunch/early dinner on Mother's Day Sunday. They usually are closed on Sunday's except for brunch but this Sunday they were open all day. The waiter was very nice and kind, friendly and made jokes with my mom, making her feel special. My mom and sister got their specials: white fish and ribeye steak, and i got the menu item chicken with roasted potatoes. We also shared a mushroom risotto for appetizer and my sister had the lobster bisque soup. We all tasted every item and agreed all dishes were very good. My chicken was so flavorful in every bite with a delicate citrus balsamic glaze on the little fresh tomatoes with sprinkles of cilantro and cubes of avocado. I hate when food has lots of salt because it covers up flavor, and each one of these dishes were perfectly seasoned and my palate enjoyed all the variety of flavors in my mouth. Great chefs ! We also had the prosecco : tasty, and my sister had a martini that was purple... it was interesting but not my thing, I'm more of a prosecco, refreshing drinks kind of girl. Later during our meal, a musician came and played beautiful relaxing melodies. The waiter was attentive. The outside patio was so pretty, with gentle sounds of a small waterfall in the distance and a little stream, lots of plants. Our bill for all the items was about $420 with 20% tip for 3 people and included : 3 drinks, 3 meals, 1 soup, 1 dinner-size risotto dish, and 1 slice of lemon cheesecake with fresh strawberry sauce which was also very yummy. One thing i was disappointed in is seeing a few guests in the next table over arrive for dinner wearing jeans. It doesn't matter if it's designer, but it really deteriorates the ambience of such a beautiful restaurant when people walk in wearing jeans. Parking is free in the garage next door but you have to bring ticket to get it validated. That day the parking gates were not working and had to wait about 6 mins for an attendant to come and let us out. Otherwise, i give the food, ambience, presentation, cleanliness, music, staff 5 stars! Will be back to celebrate important dates. A little pricy but worth it. And to add, I'm a germaphobe and always look for issues with uncleanliness and the bathroom was very clean, the silverware, everything, looked very nice. read more

Such a gem of a restaurant! After my first experience eating at Il Moro, my biggest takeaway was that these people truly care about guest experience. Everything felt so beautiful and intentional, from the design to the plating to the service. My favorites are the corn ravioli and the rigatoni. There are several vegetarian options here too! The dessert is also to die for. I got to speak to one of the owners who was so kind and attentive. She told me about the history of this place and it made me even more of a fan. I was so impressed that I decided to have my birthday here recently and there were absolutely no regrets. From my understanding they can also host bigger events. I already can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. I highly recommend. read more

Have now been here several times and it's always good. A few things for this visit: - Most of the food prep area is exposed to the dining area, so you hear a lot of the noises that come from that area of a kitchen and given the higher ceilings and wood floors, it can get loud and annoying, especially in a relatively calm and upscale environment. - I ordered a pasta that I like with lobster and shrimp but they must have removed the one I've ordered and replaced it with one with Diavola sauce and whoa man was it spicy! We love Il Moro and we returned to eat there. I had their lamb chops for the first time. These mild tasting New Zealand lamb chops with a light brown sauce were juicy and delicious. They are not on the menu but are a frequent special. They would benefit from a side of French fries which we ordered to share between us. The apple tart dessert was excellent. My spouse had the cheesecake which was also delicious. The restaurant is in a nondescript office tower. However, it is lovely inside. When you enter there is an extensive bar with a few tables where you may also eat dinner or lunch. There is a large interior dining room that looks out onto a beautiful patio adjacent to a very large narrow koi pond. Some tables are covered with a canopy. You may use their heaters but not under the canopy. The patio is picturesque and romantic. Parking is free. There is metered street parking or free self parking in the adjacent garage. read more

After looking at a number of restaurants where we could host a bridal shower for 28 women, we decided on Il Moro, and couldn't have made a better choice. From the initial phone call with Georgina to the day of the event, she was so personable and accommodating with many helpful suggestions. Although it's a little on the pricey side, when you consider the value (delicious food, exceptional service and ambience) it's well worth it. Normally, they're closed for lunch on Saturdays, but they open for special events. From their full menu we were able to choose 3 appetizers, 4 entrées and 3 desserts for our personalized menu which elicited experiential delight from our guests and hostesses. The owner, Mladjen, personally saw to it that everything ran smoothly. If you're looking for a restaurant to host a large event you'd be missing the boat if you didn't consider Il Moro. read more

The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with the option to dine alfresco or inside the comfortable dining room. The food is simple but full of flavor. I nearly joined the clean plate club with their steak special--perfectly cooked and served with arugula, Parmesan, avocado, potatoes, and tomatoes. We all went with the specials that day, and every dish delivered. The thin-crust pizza is always a great way to start, and the mains offer a nice variety. Portions are just right--satisfying without being too heavy. They also have high chairs for toddlers, which is a thoughtful touch. We wrapped things up with the banana bread pudding, a warm and delicious finish. One tip: ask for the market price on specials so there are no surprises--but overall, pricing is fair for the quality. What a great find in the neighborhood! Located on a quiet street surrounded by office towers sits Il Moro restaurant, which has apparently been there for 25+ years unbeknownst to me. There is a very charming and large outdoor seating area with twinkly lights overhead and heat lamps, and a large art-filled inside dining room. We decided to sit inside and learned that all the artwork on the walls was for sale. Our sever was super nice and efficient. She always had a smile and truly seemed to care about our experience. We ordered the filet of sole and a pasta dish with eggplant and both were excellent. There is easy street parking and also a parking lot in the building that is validated by the restaurant. How very sad, I'd been here before and really enjoyed my meal, but it's been about a year and I wonder what changed in the time since I've been away. I remember their courtyard which, though arranged between office buildings in a slightly corporate way, boasts some lovely details like string lights, a koi pond, and plenty of foliage. It's a nice place to sit while you dine even when it's chilly and windy, since they have heat lamps aplenty. The food is expensive for the quality. I ordered a soup last time that was a fine vegetable soup, neither memorable nor outstanding, and that alone was $19. $19! For soup! It better knock my socks off! I also ordered their porcini risotto, and the rice was underdone. The red wine sauce that came with it was not complementary at all, in my opinion. The servers were prompt and friendly, at least, and the bread they delivered was hot and fresh. I just wish the rest of the meal felt like it was worth the cost. read more

I just had Il Moro this past weekend, and it was so good! My husband ordered the lamb shank, and it's all he talks about. I had the branzino, and it's was perfect! i'll have to say im a bit disappointed with the food here ): for the price, I was expecting really great tasting italian food but id have to say it was average at best. given that the menu wasnt very extensive, we didnt have much to choose from either. unfortunately because we were celebrating a birthday, we brought our own cake and were informed that each SLICE that would be made into our OWN cake would be $5. that would have come out to an additional $45 per person. we passed on that and decided to just take it back home to eat together. however, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. they were very attentive and always made sure we were doing alright during our meal. we were even given our own private dining area because we had a large party of 9 people. read more

New ownership! As I mentioned 12 years ago, we've been going from the git-go, so I get nervous when anything major changes. No worries. First, the new owners are the current chef and a top waiter. Second, we dined there recently and everything is great. An excellent wine list. Still there are the gorgeous garden and stream by the outdoor tables, and most importantly, the fabulous food and friendly service. For you cocktail fans, a great, inventive list, well executed. The food and service were really good! Everyone was friendly, especially Joel, Andres, and Julio. They were making sure we were doing good throughout the dinner and the specials were good, too. They have daily specials that you should look out for! Vicente is the head chef and the food was excellent. I got the Penne Moro dish and it was one of the best pastas I ever had! One of the best meals I have had in quite a while! We came here tonight to celebrate my father's 75th birthday and it just happened to be Dine LA week so there was the regular menu, the Dine LA menu, and many wonderful sounding daily specials. There were a couple times where I felt that they should have checked on us more frequently, such as for refilling my water and taking too long to bring the check. But overall, the service was very good. There is free validated parking in the lot next door as well as many metered parking spaces right out front. The inside is a perfectly nice setting but the outside patio is definitely where it's at. There are some tables under covered tents and many others outside of the tents. They had a lot of heat lamps available as desired. There is a lovely fountain and stream that runs behind that patio area and string lights. Really just the perfect outdoor setting. Also, despite every table being filled, it was not overly noisy. My 95 year old grandma who is hard of hearing was with us, and she was able to hear just fine, which is hard to find these days at popular restaurants! I had a fantastic cocktail, the tropical breeze. Truly delicious and not overly strong. It did feel a bit small for $18 but I guess that is the standard now. Despite many delicious sounding options to choose from, we surprisingly all chose the same appetizer and entree! The scallop dish for an appetizer and the lamb shank for the entree. The scallop appetizer was one of the best scallop dishes I have had in a long time. Jumbo scallops with amazing butternut squash and the sauce was just the perfect combination - I couldn't get enough and could have easily eaten an entire platter of them. I am not normally big on lamb so I was worried about ordering it but the waiter assured me it was braised and not gamey at all. He was right! I really enjoyed the lamb shank and the amazing red wine sauce it came in. It honestly reminded me of brisket. The mashed potatoes it came with were tasty but nothing unusual. The peach cobbler, wow! I would definitely say it felt more like a peach crisp or crumble than a cobbler which normally has a biscuit type topping. I honestly prefer it this way And really enjoyed how much fruit was in it. Overall, we were all very happy with our orders and with our experience at Il Moro. My parents and grandmother had been to Il Moro many times before but not for many years. While I had never been before. I did notice it was mostly an "older crowd" but I think this place would definitely cater to a younger crowd as well. I've had 2 different clients host events here & we have all absolutely loved it. The staff, the food, the owner - all around lovely experience. I decided to return as a restaurant-goer as a last minute date night activity & wow!!! First - I live so close & had no idea it existed before my events! It's hidden away but the venue itself is beautiful. At night it's so calming on the patio & magically. It totally transports you to a mini vacay. The blossoms were amazing, the pumpkin + butter + sage combo is ALWAYS a winner, & their cheesecake.... OMG. My fav. You are silly if you don't end the evening with a slice.
