I came here late Saturday night, just to hangout with my classmates from my reunion. It was dark and loungy feeling, I liked it a lot. I've come here many times over the past few years and always had an amazing time. So amazing, in fact, that when it came time to celebrate my 10 year anniversary living in LA, of course I had to choose The Wellesbourne to do it. I set up a reservation for 10 people 2 weeks in advance. We were seated on the front couches on the right side. Our waitress took about 20 minutes to come over to us. Our drinks took at least 20 more minutes. One of the people in my party didn't receive her drink because the waitress never put it in. After 25 more minutes I went up to the bar to ask about it and was told "your waitress will bring it when she can." Another 10 minutes later, still no drink. Another person in my party went to ask about it and came back empty handed as well. We were then passed off to a second waitress with no explanation (and still no drink for my friend after 45 minutes). She then brought the wrong drink altogether which we didn't even tell her because we didn't think we'd ever get another drink. All in all this ended up being a disappointing experience and not the way I wanted to have my celebration go. I left feeling pretty embarrassed that I'd suggested coming here. read more

It took forever to get seated despite open space, and even longer to get served. The Wellesbourne used to be one of my favorite bars in the area, but unfortunately my experience there last night was so bizarre and unsettling that I would not feel comfortable returning. When my boyfriend and I arrived we sat at the bar. I asked the woman next to us if she was using the drink menu before picking it up. It was a completely friendly, unremarkable interaction. I went to the restroom while my boyfriend ordered for us and when I came back, he mentioned that one of the waitresses, Alexa, had been weirdly rude to him even though she wasn't our server, which was strange but I didn't think much of it at the time. Later we asked our bartender if we could move to the couches and he confirmed it was fine. Everything was normal until my boyfriend went back to the bar to order a second round, and Alexa aggressively confronted him about ordering at the bar while seated at a couch. Her tone was hostile and completely disproportionate to what should have been a simple policy clarification. She then followed him back to our table and further escalated the situation. When I asked what the problem was, she loudly and falsely accused us of "stealing" a menu and "scaring away" the woman from the bar. Her claims were blatantly untrue and her behavior was extremely confrontational for no reason. We spoke to the owner, who apologized, but the most concerning part happened as we were leaving. Alexa went over to another table and actively prompted a male patron to follow us outside and confront us on the street. An employee who harasses patrons, blatantly lies, and incites strangers to follow customers outside is a massive liability. I strongly advise avoiding this bar while she is still employed there. read more

A friend and I went and sat on the left side, with the fireplace which, is what we wanted and it was very nice and comfy. The middle section was freezing cold because the door was open to the outside all night - thank heaven we didn't sit there which when we thought we originally would. The entrance is covered with heavy drape but it still did nothing to ward off the chill on a 50° night. Our server took or drink order without rushing us and it was served and pretty decent time & drinks were tasty. Problems came with food order. We ordered the edamame or what we thought was edamame. We intended to eat dinner also. After 25 - 30 minutes we still did not have it. Asked about it again at 35 minutes and the server said the chef had to "plate it". That took another 15 minutes. The photo was what we got. Apparently it's an edamame Hummus and supposed to come with assorted raw vegetables. The menu is not clear on that in our minds. We also wondered why it took 45 minutes to plate raw carrots and raw celery which were the only vegetables it came with. THis was very disappointing- they offered to take 25% off, and eventually removed it from the bill. The rest of the food was good and the service was decent from the two gals working there. However, do not expect a printed bill or a printed itemized receipt - their system does not allow for it so you can't check your bill. (Keep track). I recommend for the drinks, ambience, in the fireplace & the excellent light jazz music provided by piano and guitar which was never too loud. read more

If you're trying to hit a homerun, this is a grand slam. Tristan and Chloe kill it behind the bar! They're the pilot for the flight of drinks you'll end up having. My wife and I went in tonight with a large party to celebrate a special occasion that actually rented the whole place out. The hosts even were gracious enough to gift drink tickets of $18 value. When we went to buy a drink, the drink was not only conveniently $19, but they wouldn't let us use the already paid ticket and pay the difference. In fact, with my drink, which would have been a mocktail, it would have balanced out. Nope. I'll never forget this - the grifter bartender looks over to the Asian manager, who didn't even acknowledge us - just shook her head no condescendingly. Like straight out of a movie. That's when I knew the place was a grift. Don't let the pretty package fool you. Owners are clearly swindlers. My wife ended up using the drink tickets and she didn't finish one, they were so bad. What a cozy joint! We walked in to an inviting, warm, welcoming vibe. There were quite a few people there, some looked like they were on dates. We found a corner spot by the piano. The three of us decided to share apps. We got the brussel sprouts, beef and chicken sliders and fries. All plates were cleared. The consensus is the whole party was satisfied. The only thing that disappointed us is that some of the sprouts were a little burnt. I mean, we still ate em, but we didn't bother complaining because we were starved. The drinks were all well made.
