Came here for a special dinner after being gifted a gift card for this spot. We were really excited to get everything we could on the menu, but honestly it was just sub par. We had a great time, super nice service and it's a small and semi casual spot. Its alright, good for a bite at the hotel.

    Ribeye linguine. Where's the beef?!

Very pricey and lacked flavor on the pasta dish. Pizza looks much better than the other offerings. I ordered the ribeye linguine. What a let down. It was flat on flavor, more than likely boxed pasta and maybe an ounce of shredded mystery meat. It was a terrible meal and the over $35 price they have on this made it that much worse. They should be ashamed of themselves. It's almost as if they knew. Not once did they check in on me until it was clear I pushed the plate away. Yes. I ate it. I was starving and didn't want to waste the money. But this is most certainly in the top 3 worst Italian meals I've ever had. Skip this place or go for the pizza. Never again for me...

    Menu

Menu as of 1/1/2025. Hours are incorrect on Yelp. They are open 4PM-10PM Mon-Sat. Ordering carryout from the bar. Food looks and smells great. Very busy with a small footprint. They have tables out in the hallway to add capacity for new years crowd which is great.

Soup of the day, lentil and it was better than homemade!

What a great little restaurant attached to the shopping arcade at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel. We've been in PR for about 2 weeks and we're craving something other than Caribbean food. They have a decent menu with everything one would expect from an Italian restaurant. Very nice wine selection as well as a full bar. The hubs and I shared the soup of the day and I must say, it was as good as homemade. Full of fresh vegetables and lentils. For my entree I had my normal go to when eating Italian, spaghetti bolognese. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the bolognese was incredible! The place is small but we had no issues getting in sans a reservation. I almost forgot, the prices are crazy reasonable. The soup was $8 and the pasta was $16. Not bad considering it's location attached to the hotel. They do offer take out if you wanna go back and chill in your room.

Man this place stunk. I see the temptation of a cheaper place to eat while at a resort but a) it wasn't that cheap and b) it wasn't worth the money. We stopped by once just to see the menu and heard the desserts and came back the next day where the desserts were entirely different. Which...fine. I understand daily specials but I was disappointed. To order to go, we ordered at the bar 2 desserts. One chocolate souffle and one lava cake. It was over 30 minutes before we inquired and were told the "system" glitched and our order was never placed. Another 15-20 minutes before we got the order, paid, then went directly upstairs where we found the desserts were a melted soggy mess. It clearly had been sitting around before it was brought to us. I think the bartender knew we weren't going to be getting a bunch of drinks=a bunch of tips, so he just never bothered to check. After eating one which was mediocre, we realized the second dessert was identical. I called the pizzeria and they told us souffles and lava cakes are the same thing which a) no they aren't b) why did you list 2 specials if they are the same thing? We ended up getting a refund for one, but each was bout $10 and we had literally a 2 minute walk from the restaurant to hotel room and it couldn't even hold up that long. Maybe the pizza is fine, but the to go dessert experience was miserable. If you want a sweet, just go to the chocolate store a few doors down.

Great dinner place. Best dinner we have had. Our waiter was amazing! Juan was very personable, pleasant, and attentive. Great recommendations. Lucas was very pleasant and helpful. Best meal we had in Puerto Rico.

Definitely five stars for this fantastic pizza place in the El San Juan Hotel called Il Solé. The pizza was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious as was the potato and leek soup, the wine and the tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommended and will definitely come back.

    25% tip. 5 people.

This restaurant needs to be audited for their manual tipping policy. They unknowingly charged us a 25% tip and brought us the bill. I asked if the tip was included and he (Jesus) said, no, you can add the tip on when you pay at the machine. He brought me the machine only and handed me the machine with the tip menu. I then told him I needed to see the receipt. He gives me the receipt and I noticed it already had a $80.50 tip (25%). I said what is their tipping policy. He said 25% is mandatory. I asked where the policy is and he said it's not posted. I asked if it was a company policy or a personal policy. He said it was the company policy of the restaurant. I asked him if the casino knew they were charging their customer a 25% mandatory tip and then trying to get them to tip even more by not giving them the receipts. He told me he would quickly go back and remove the charge. I asked him if I could speak to the manager about their tipping policy. He told me don't worry about it. We'll take care of it. I was adamant that I wanted to speak, whoever was running the place and he told me the person running it was Luca. After having to ask several times Luca comes up and I ask him the tips policy and he told me it ranges from 20 to 25%. I asked him what dictates how much they charge and he said they just decide what to charge. I asked him if that was a policy and he told me, no, they choose how they do what they do. I asked him if the casino knew that they were charging their customers excessive amounts for tip and I was told sorry we will take care of it. Someone at this casino needs to audit this restaurant and all the employees, who work there and how much they're charging your customers.

    Lentil soup & garlic bread

Place is quick with service and very accommodating. Food is delicious. We got a complimentary garlic bread lentil soup and chicken parmesan.

'Simply the Best' everything. If you are a fan of octopus you will not be disappointed 'Simply Perfect''. Cáprese salad 'Simply the Best' Pizza and the crust 'Simply the Best' Gnocchi with shrimp 'Simply the best' Service and management ' Simply the Best' II Sole is real deal Italian expect to pay real authentic prices. Chilled Panna water is the bomb. The service 'Simply the Best' Sad sad sad and shame on those 1 stars, Lava cake to go and you did not expect it to melt 1 star? The bar gives you Panna water and you think it is free 1 star? Lobby Bar $20 Pina Colata and the prices are too high at II Sole? Make a reservation this is not Domino's. Do not expect to walk up during peak dining hours and get a table. Reminder this is not Dominos. Calm down you are on vacation. Try to sit and eat especially the pizza fresh out the stone oven. Try not to order to go sit and enjoy. The price is the price and you are on vacation. Spending top dollar at the Fairmont. I give real deal reviews and II Sole ranks in my top Italian restaurants. The Octopus appetizer is #1 of any appetizer that I have reviewed. Perfect prep nothing fancy. Cheers and 'Simply the Best'

I got the bill, paid it, and added a $30 tip on a $30 dollar check; but for whatever reason the transaction timed out because I must have missed the button to complete the trransaction. I asked the person who was serving me to reset the machine so I could pay again and re-add the tip. I put my card in the machine, and the lady who was serving me took the cc machine and clicked 30% for the tip and handed the cc machine back to me as if I was stupid and did not know what she did. What made it worse was some dude came up to me and tried to tell me that is what the business does, right after I had seen the screen and options prior as if that was their policy. As one who has been in tech and the restaurant business for many years, I could not believe they were tying to pretend that it was ok.. It was crazy because she would have made more money off of me, let alone my friends for the rest of the week. It was SHADY that she would do that. Enjoy the pizza and enjoy the service...but be CAREFULL when you pay becausse they will CHEAT you. I never write negative reviews, but in this case I could not let it go. Cuidado!!! Be carefull!!!

It was well worth the wait!!!…read more My son wanted pizza and my wife and I wanted to walk around Old San Juan. This was the most popular pizza spot with the highest reviews. A brief aside: If you're driving here, expect a mess. Coming from SoCal, we make forays into DTLA and deal with similar stresses -- one way streets everywhere, dense traffic, extremely limited parking, pedestrians everywhere (many intoxicated and stumbling into traffic), potholes/construction, police closing lanes without reason, and stray cats running through the streets. Ubering here may be worthwhile! We had a 45 min wait, likely exacerbated by Spring break in PR. We used our free time to walk Calle de la Fortaleza -- very beautiful. They called my cell phone when the table was ready (don't forget to turn off your Spam blocker!). The interior is very unique and the place was buzzing. Service was slow, even by PR standards, and our waitress was the worst in the restaurant. She said little, brought us bottled water when we asked for tap, and never came back to check on us. We flagged other waiters for other incidentals like napkins and for our bill. The garlic knots and pizza were great. The pepperoni pizza was 10/10, with a fluffy crust but crispy otherwise. The Margherita pizza was average -- the tomato was sliced too thick and undercooked and the dough was soggy. In spite of some hiccups, the place was really good and I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that a second trip would be better -- other tables had good service and the other waiters were very helpful. I'm still not sure if we were give bottled water because we were gringo tourists and they figured they'd up charge us or if it was an honest mistake.
