I've eaten here before and I loved it! Super convenient but felt like we were an inconvenience to them. They said we couldn't sit outside but the food was yummy and fast so I still wanted to come back this time. We came in at 9:40 pm which is later than I'd like to go to a restaurant that closes at 10:30 but I figured we could at least get it to eat quickly before they cleaned but they said we could only get it to-go and that we could not order any Puerto Rican food. Super disappointing when I'd just recommended this place to several coworkers. Now I'm embarrassed but the pepperoni pizza was good.

Stopped in for a quick order after snorkeling. Very divey feel. Limited inside & outside seating. Bar inside & outside. All in all its a very laid back beach type feel. Got the sangria (which was like an icee so a lot of leftover frozen ice) and a pina colada (another watered down tasting drink) We also ordered sweet plantains, mozzarella sticks, Matadero pizza and Bacon & Cheese burger. A little bit of everything. Really hoping the food is the real deal here because again waiting for an hour for food when the place isn't busy.. food gets luke warm by the time you eat it... so far this place is just okay unfortunately

Our server Pedro was very accommodating. We asked him for any suggestions and decided to order the churrasco. It was so delicious as well as our drinks, and definitely a great choice, I would HIGHLY recommend coming here anytime you're in town. The beef turnover was perfectly crispy and makes a good 'on the go' snack. The staff were wonderful, thank you for making our trip amazing!

Surprise, SURPRISE! Piola was better than we anticipated. Staying at Caribe Hilton we needed non-resort food and Piola is in walking distance. When Piola was finally open (don't trust the hours listed- seems like they are short staffed and open when they can/want to.) It's small inside. We had to wait for a table but our server greeted us and alerted us immediately of the wait. We were seated outside. Cool bar area. It started downpouring- no worries- we were covered! The pizza was good. Nothing to rave about for the rest of my life but we had zero expectations. The garlic knots, very cheesy. Had a ham turover- like an empanada but less cheesy and an order of wings. The wings were good. It was nice to step away from resort food so true score: 3.5

This was right by our hotel so we decided to walk over and give it a try. We ordered a pizza for two people to split which was ok but not amazing pizza. And I had a burger and fries. I could not eat the burger as it had some weird seasoning or taste. My son's Pepsi had a bunch of white stuff floating at the top which we pointed out to the waitress and she went and got a new one but the new one had the same thing.

Staying at the Caribe Hilton, this little gem is just off the property. Unassuming, it is a small restaurant with an even smaller bar....but, it is wonderful! We sat in a courtyard of sorts with just a few tables. After eating some overpriced hotel food, we relished our simple meal of a fresh and generous arugula salad and a thin crust cheese and basil pizza big enough to share. It was the perfect meal, topped off with a Puerto Rican beer, of course. Jose, the owner is engaging and helps bring the food to the tables. His mother, Sonia "pitch hits" and acted as a waitress the night we were there. She is a spitfire and lovely to speak with. It is hard to believe this woman is old enough to be Jose's mom as she not only handled the waitressing, but also the bar. Great night at Piola's!

Pizza was decent. Fresh and made to order. I would try other things in the menu.

The pizza was good. A convenient walking distance from the hotel. I would be open to trying other items on the menu....

The garlic bread was fine, not as good as the arancini. If you are hungry, get the chicken parm, my god it is the largest portion I have ever seen! I ate one of the 3 cutlets they served. Most times when a place gives a ton of food it is ok, well this was fabulous. Super thin, light breading that remained crispy and just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The pizza was good as well. For dessert we had a well portioned flowerless chocolate cake which was paired with some vanilla bean ice cream. Divine! We sat in the restaurant portion near the secret door to the speakeasy so take your pick on what vibe you prefer. The wait staff were super helpful and responsive. We bought the kitchen staff a round for fun. Great experience, I recommend swinging by if you are in the neighborhood.

We would totally come back on a future trip and will be recommending to others visiting the island.

The place still look very fancy, but I've been fancier places... First, it is definitely on the pricey side. We ordered three pastas, three appetizers, three drinks, and 2 Fiji waters bottles -- and were also charged for the birthday cake. The total came out to almost $400, service fee of $50! which was surprising. While the staff was amazing, attentive, and very kind (I truly have no complaints about the service), the food unfortunately didn't match the price point. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable or worth what we paid. Overall, great service -- but for the cost, I expected more from the food. Also be prepared cause they took over two hours to bring the food out and I had reservations as well

An Italian restaurant with no bread?) not a great start. Having said all that, the rest for our food was amazing! The arancini and the eggplant were exquisite. I ordered the steak (yeah I know) but it was amazing. The sauce, the potatoes. Just delicious. Our guests had the lasagna and my husband ordered the pizza. They were very satisfied with their meals. The ambiance is quaint. Old Italian. Clean. I would train servers to know what's available and what's not. Prevent from ordering and being disappointed. In addition, if you don't have bread and make pizza, you have bread. You can make it out of pizza dough in a pinch for those who ask. Italian red sauce without bread... it's a big miss. If your equipment is broken, buy the bread. I think they should have given us the dessert based on the misses. Nonetheless, the entrees were very good.

My friend ordered an Aperol Spritz, which unfortunately fell a little flat by comparison. For appetizers, we shared the sampler basket. The absolute standouts were the fish empanadas and the crab croquettes. Both were packed with flavor and easily the best things we ate all night. For the main course, he ordered the tuna. It was good, but a bit overcooked for our taste. If you're coming here, see if you can snag a table upstairs. The space overlooks the Marriott and has a tropical, open-air vibe that feels very San Juan and really adds to the experience. Overall, I'd describe the food as good, with a few standout dishes (seriously, order the fish empanadas). The combination of solid food, great service, a fantastic mocktail program, and a beautiful atmosphere makes this a place worth visiting.

It felt so nice after getting overheated right before we got there. One thing I noticed while wandering around Old San Juan is that some restaurants likely survive on location and foot traffic alone, while others earn people seeking them out. Semilla definitely felt like the latter. It's tucked just around the corner from some of the busiest pedestrian areas, so it felt like we escaped the crowds for a little while without actually going very far. Overall, I'd happily come back.
