Owned and operated by some SuperCool people who work hard at providing their customers with delicious food. Gotta add I'm a big fan of their covered outdoor patio too which offers a ton of shade when it's hot out. Review from a poor man. This place does good food. The stuffed mushrooms app is an awesome app if you like mushrooms and cheese! It is a cheesy goodness of flavor (if you have a hot sauce you like at home, it brings it to a whole new level!). The pizza is good, the salads are meaty and with an awesome amount of toppings. I have lunch here frequently. Staff is friendly. Service is fast. Pizza, sandwiches & hot dishes are all good.

Pizza was burnt and overall didn't taste good. Restaurant/pick up area also smelled like a musty bathroom/old dirty mop.

I ordered a chicken parm sub about 30 minutes before closing and when I picked up my sandwich I noticed there were a few slices of pizza in the display and I asked the counter person if they were made recently and he looked at me and grinned and say these have been here since this morning. I mean who keeps pizza 9 hours in a display window? doesn't pizza topped with meat grow bacteria after a few hours. I don't think they care. it makes me question the quality of the other food being served. At $5 a slice, I think you can go anywhere and get fresh pizza. During the height of COVID I called in a order and asked first if the kitchen staff wears masks and gloves. "Uh, ithink so..." said the teenager who works the counter. I asked if he could check and then placed my order. I got a call 5 minutes later from the owner with "I don't want to make you food, as you are not comfortable with me." Found out later a friend walked in for a pickup and saw the kitchen staff without masks. But the owner always takes pictures on FB wearing a mask handing out free pizzas to the Denville Police and Fire Departments. What a phony. He spends a lot on marketing. Before you pickup the food or accept a delivery, open the box, the container, whatever it is. Was very specific about how I wanted the diner to be and had to repeat myself numerous times. Got back home and it was gross. The diner looked like the picture below, so much fat from the creme sauce when no one has ever made that meal with creme sauce except this place. Placed an order at 5:40pm and was told it would be ready in a half hour. Showed up at 6:10pm and waited 25 minutes before the order was ready. I used to recommend this place because the pizza was reasonably good and they use organic ingredients. The pizza has been mediocre for the last year. I tried the champagne chicken which was a bland piece of (seemingly) boiled chicken smothered in a heavy cream sauce - way way way too much sauce. The side salad (with browned lettuce) was drowning in dressing made with way too much sugar. My boys got the chicken parm pizza which they described as "tastes better than it looks" and had only one slice each. This is one of the few places around that claims to use healthy, organic, ingredients. I wish they would try harder to get it right. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. The pizzas are better than the sandwiches and other dishes. The real complaint is the hidden surcharge on credit card fees. I went to pay for my meal. Didn't do the math in my head - just trusted them. The guy gave me the amount. I went to take out cash to pay and all of a sudden he lowered the amount. Extra star for honesty at the cash register. However, they shouldn't have any stars based on dishonest business practices. People are smart and understand the credit card fees. So this locations has been home to a number of pizza places over the years and il Torrente is the latest. I've never had a bad slice at any of the previous businesses, but I would rarely come here for pizza because it is adjacent to my local hot dog/ice cream joint. When I saw the new business sign I decided to give them a try - just after they opened - and my first impression was very good. The place is a little small, very nice decor, very clean and the counter guy was very friendly. I ordered one Cheese and one sausage slice and was pleasantly surprised. Crispy and tasty crust (not too crispy, but the way I like it - still foldable), good sized slices, very tasty sauce (not too sweet), and plenty of flavor from the cheese and sausage. Overall, very good slices. Yeah, it was only two slices, but that's what I base almost all my pizza joint reviews on...and if you can please the palate with these two slices you've got yourself a good product. I have never ever been so insulted!!!! My brother called in an order for a grandma pie. I asked him to add a chicken Parmesan sandwich and instead of regular mozzarella I wanted fresh mozzarella and some ricotta cheese. After placing our order, the manager calls back and says that they cannot make my sandwich. His explanation was that they have a very large menu and that if they go ahead and start customizing orders that it will screw the kitchen up. He than put me on the phone with the owner! Even the owner found that this was so hard to for them to accomplish. I assured him that I would never call and try to customize an order from them ever again, and he went ahead and said I'm sorry but we're going to have to cancel your order. For the 5 minutes that they spent arguing with me on the phone somebody could've simply grabbed some fresh mozzarella throwing it on the sandwich, grabbed a spoon put it in the Ricota cheese bucket and topped it on to the sand which... boom done! I will make sure that I never ever order from this place ever again. I do not understand how a paying customer who is simply asking for some substitutions is such a problem to these people. Worst experience ever! I have worked in the food industry for many years. I understand that things can get crazy in the kitchen. But the way that this was handled was very unprofessional and I don't think that this is how you will gain customers. It's not like they are Grimaldi's or L&B Spumonis. I just had the Chicken Torrente and my goodness!!! Best sub I've ever had! That creamy vodka sauce is delicious and is almost as good as the Fresca Salad! The slightly sweet sauce (i looove a pizza sauce on the ever so slightly sweeter side!) and slightly salty cheese complement each other perfectly along with a crust that is just the right thickness. We've ordered from here before and their pizza was OK, but I just tried to order a sandwich with substitutions, and the guy on the phone told me that the chef wouldn't allow it. Understanding that it is difficult to make too many customizations on what could be a busy Saturday night, I understood and instead asked for a chicken parm sandwich with the sauce on the side because my husband doesn't like a soggy sandwich. He was annoyed, put me on hold again and came back saying that the chef said no and that they "don't have time to go around switching things and making special sauces." I was surprised by this. You don't have to make a special sauce; just don't put the sauce on the sandwich. A chicken parm sandwich with the sauce on the side is my husband's regular order at every one of the 10+ pizza places we frequent in the Boonton/Denville/Rockaway area. No one has ever thought twice about it, let alone said "no we can't make that". Needless to say, I cancelled our order, called Roma in Boonton, and they made the original customized sandwich I had requested with no problem. Next time we'll just go with Roma from the get go. After reading the other reviews, it seems that this place is notorious for being rude about asking them for any small substitutions. They seem to waste a lot of time arguing with people rather than just being accommodating. Plus, in this instance, the customization would have been one less step. Come on guys. read more

Stopped in on our drive home, its so easy to get to off highway 80. We ordered fried calamari, garlic knots as appetizers (fried calamari cooked perfectly & garlic knots were so deliciously garlicky!!) and buffalo chicken salad and chicken torrente as the entree! Their vodka sauce and fresh mozz melted over the chicken is so good!! And the salad was fresh and light! A lot of options here to eat especially if you and your family can't pick out one thing to share. And so many salad options I couldn't pick one out fast enough .
