On a beautiful false spring day we stopped here to enjoy their outdoor seating which overlooks the park and lake across the street. We ordered 3 dishes and sat down and loved the warm weather and the fine conversation. When you enter this place you order just like you do at Chipotle by choosing items to add to your entree. My spouse ordered a salad with chicken, pinto beans, lettuce, avocado, cheese and other things which suited her taste. At around $11 it looked great and I took a photo. I was less hungry so ordered from the kids menu a bowl with chicken, beans, avocado, cheese and again whatever I wanted which included olives by the way. My daughter ordered a small burrito filled with her choices to suit her taste. These last two orders were around $7 each. The food was great! It was enjoyable and we certainly plan to return to this location again and again. It's not fancy but it's clean and tasty and a fun place to go. You have many choices on their menu and they were fast to put it together and friendly too! If you are in the area it's worth stopping for good food at a reasonable price. It turns out they did not care I was ordering a kids meal for myself. What a delightful place! Anyway I rated it high because it was perfect for us. It's not fancy but it is a pleasant way to spend a reasonable amount on decent food. First time at Illegal Pete's newest location in Gold's Marketplace in Wheat Ridge. I drive by every day after work. They opened in February 2024. After working today, the time was right. They serve Mission style burritos with various proteins and add-ons. They are quite large. They offer flour or wheat tortillas that is warmed up in a hot press. I opted for grilled chicken, brown rice, guacamole and poblano pesto to add some spice. All wrapped up in foil. You order at the counter and see your food prepared in front of you. I could have a gotten a salad, bowl or 3 tacos for the same price. The guac and pesto were extra. I had pork green chile on the inside. Very good. I added a draft pour of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Inside dining was very airy with padded seats and wood tables. They have a large east facing patio. A few menu items take time to prepare and the staff will bring it to you. So good burrito & Beer for only $23. read more

Unfortunately, this is the worst illegal Pete's in the metro area. My fiance and I LOVE Pete's. The workers are the rudest at this location. We brought our ESA dog in just to order because it was 90 degrees outside and we were yelled at at immediately that dogs can only be on the patio. We were not planning on dinning in so we didn't want to go to the patio - just order our food and leave. And we have done this before at other locations SEVERAL times, so not sure why this was an issue here. Overall, employees make this location unenjoyable. Unfortunately it is the closets location to us. Ordering ahead is also pointless because they can never have your food ready on time. We waited 30 minutes for an online order on a weekday. read more

Bland, bland, bland. My husband' "steak" burrito was mostly rice, with little seasoning. My fish taco also bland, not crispy, and as others reported tortilla self-destructed making eating it a mess. Worst of all, my taco came out after 16 minutes... with my husband nearly done with his burrito. No process here to serve people together, which is a problem with their slow, slow, slowest fish tacos in the universe. Go back to frying the fish in oil! We loved the original Illegal Pete's location near Union Station in downtown Denver, new location on 16th St Mall less so, this location not! The first thing I noticed is on the 4th of July holiday weekend this location did not have an American flag displayed - just a BLM flag and an LGBTQ+ flag. The reason they have the freedom to hang those flags is because of Independence Day. Service was okay - we apparently were there during a shift change but in any case the new bartender completely ignored us and we had to ask the bartender who just got off shift to close us out. Lunch/dinner food here is almost as good as downtown and could benefit from better trained staff. Ordering here is horrifically slow; for some reason the same person you start with to ask for a burrito/bowl/nachos, etc. also asks you what else you'd like while pointing to the salsas and toppings even though that's an entirely different "station" and you just have to repeat yourself once you get there. This makes the line not run smoothly at all. The employees don't seem to know what's on the menu even though they try to get you to order ahead which is frustrating 1. Because it isn't that hard and 2. As a patron I had it down in 5 minutes of menu review. Patio is really great, but the misters make all of the tables and chairs under them soaking wet. Fortunately they seem to be on a timer and don't run constantly. Have been here 3 times and have not yet witnessed a bartender I'd feel confident in getting a good drink from. The negative observation is all small stuff in the grand scheme; I'll still come back every weekend for my lunchtime burrito fix because the food is very good, the restaurant is clean, staff making and serving food is bend-over backward friendly and the patio is awesome! read more

I absolutely love illegal Pete's but damn this location is absolutely beautiful and absolutely lacks the quality service that the other locations have. Food was messed up (they forgot an entire persons order of our group), drinks from the bar took forever to make when we were the only people at the bar ordering. Highly recommend for a lax time with good views. "You get what you get" Now going back for a second drink, witnessed the bartender be blatantly rude to a customer and then still take her slow time to make the drink after rudely responding to the customer. Watched multiple people give up on trying to get drinks after she was rude and they all just went back to their tables. Would have loved a second drink...that's why I left my tab open..took a lifetime for the bartender to get anything done for anyone, by the time she came I just closed out my tab because it had been over fifteen minutes waiting at that point. read more

Do better! I found a piece of wire in my food. It looked a piece of wire like a tool they clean the grill with. Glad I didn't swallow it. I was too tired from a 12 shift and didn't take it to them because it was too packed with a lot of people, and I just gave up and threw the food away. Almost vomited when I found the wire. As for the food, the veggies were bitter, and ruined the whole bowl. Do better. I'm scared to eat anywhere else..I'll make an even better burrito bowl at home! And this review will get a generic automatic response copied and pasted from all the other reviews saying you'll let the staff know, which is a lie, and I call BS and the management overlooks the reviews on here, and will 100% most likely not coach the staff and inspect the tools they use to clean the grills. My boyfriend and I absolutely love coming here. We come atleast once a week. The food is always pretty good. The reason I give this place 2 stars is because of the male bartender that they have. He's been rude since the first time we ordered from him. Today he decided to throw my ID, my debit card and coasters in the counter while being short and irritable. I worked in food service for years so I know a busy employee when I see one, but my bf and I were the only ones at the bar. He made my boyfriend not even want a drink anymore. And my drink was so light on liquor that it tasted like juice and If you know illegal Pete's you know they're usually pretty strong drinks.
