After 200 visits I will never come back. My server would not come to my table. I had to flag down other employees to take my drink order ,and then my food order,and then to get my drink ,and also to get my food. When the server showed up I told her part of my order did not come ,and she did nothing. Then the manager comes and asks how everything was and I told him. He then made a line of excuses. I then asked him to just bring my bill because The server might never come and I didn't want to see her if she did. He then started to talk down to me and repeatedly (that's not right). I am happy to write this review!!! After a long period of rude management, blasting music and overall poor quality food and bad service, this location is back on track! A long time favorite and a disappointing few years, there is NOW great management again!!!They are Professional and caring. If you have had poor experiences with this location please come back because your experience will be better. Since the remodel and management change we can come back and enjoy GREAT food and enjoyable family time. We mentioned that we noticed the positive changes and Alex and Memo, the new managers, took time to talk with us, assuring us that they are all about customer service and satisfaction. Loved my dinner here! I had the 2 tamale dinner. The service was excellent, with chips and salsa coming out as we were seated. The "small" margarita was big! And delicious. Food was mid, I was catching up with a friend so we were there a little bit longer than the average diner. I was aware of how busy they were and made sure no body was waiting for a table. There were several open tables and they basically told us to leave because they needed the table. I thought that was rude of them, I tipped well due to us staying a little longer. I would give them an average rating, not bad, not great. First off I would like to point out, that they had a couple of signs on the door stating masks required. But I saw a family come in when 3 teenage boys and a mother come in, one of the boys started to put on a masks, but the mother told him he didn't need it. They spoke to the hostess for seating, but nothing was said, there was a lot of people in the lobby area, therefore no social distancing. Once seated I saw a waiter, sometimes a mask on, other times no mask at all. And they had a very young busboy that was more often than not, his mask was under his chin. Now to the meal. I was very hopeful, as they brought us chips, the salsa had a nice kick to it. I ordered one of the combos, it was plenty of food and the price was very reasonable. However it was bland. If you're not a fan of spicy food, this place would probably be a good choice for you. However I really want some heat when I'm enjoying Mexican food. read more

We like the food here, and it's close. That being said they raised their prices about 5 to 6 dollars per plate. It's just too expensive to go there now for Mexican food and the place usually may be half full on a good night. We lived near the Arvada location for 16 years and this was our go-to spot. We moved away 3 years ago, and I have been searching for a replacement ever since, to no avail. This neighborhood restaurant has a great happy hour menu and more! The drinks are large, the salsa delicious, and the food yummy. We especially loved the tamales, enchiladas, beans and rice. We went in to Las Portrancas(64th/Simms)on Sunday where we was a party of 6, when a party of 7 came in after us. The man in the party intimidated the young(maybe all of 14) man who was hosting to try to get them seated right away. He kept badgering the young host until the host found a table and started to get their silverware, dropping a set in the floor where upon he kicked the silverware out of the way. There was a little brother of the host that maybe was 9 or 10 who actually picked up the wrapped silverware and threw it back into the tub under the host table all the while watching us watch him do it. YUCK!!! If things like this is in the front of the restaurant what actually is happening in the kitchen? I totally understand employing young kids and support it 100% but cleanliness needs to be crucial when running a food business. Needless to say, we walked out after seeing that. We wasn't going to say anything when we was overlooked with the seating situation but once we seen the silverware incident we threw up in our mouths. THEN I tried to call the restaurant but literally no answer 2 different times. I called the next day talking to a Fernando relaying the info back to him letting him know, He told me I should have said something right away but told him there was very little help that day. He said Sunday is the only day the young kid works. When I told him we have been loyal customers for several years and actually went down the street that day for Mexican food. He told me it's ok if we went elsewhere. It didn't bother him. I was very positive as wasn't looking for anything free just wanted them to be aware of what happened. Garbage! Horrible customer service. There are too many mexican restaurants for bad management. Last week we (6 of us) ordered happy hour appetizers and drinks well within happy hour time. Explicitly ordered HAPPY HOUR while pointing to the Happy Hour Menu in our hands. Bill showed up full price. We came here during lunch. It wasn't so busy. The decor was colorful (hand panted tables and chairs) and you can buy a whole bottle of tequila and they will save it for you for your next visit. That was pretty cool. What we swallowed: COMPLIMENTARY CHIPS AND SALSA: The salsa was spicy but had good flavors. more like pace picante sauce then the chunky salsa, which I favor. It was still good tho. SUMMER PEACH SANGRIA: Our server recommended this and he was right, it was refreshing. Light, crisp and just the right amount of alcohol. CARNITAS PLATE: There was something about this plate that.. eh, it just didn't do it for me. The flavors were good but it tasted like it was cooked in a the back if a fat vat and they just slopped it on my plate. Everything was runny. It would have tasted 1000% better if they finished it off on the grill or broiled it to give it a little crispy edges, instead it was a soppy mess. I didn't really care for it. That and the fact they only gave me two tortillas. It just wasn't a pleasant carnitas experience. The chips, salsa, and drinks were good. On the fence about the food. We came here for 8+ years. We have absolutely loved this place until today. My parents come one to two times a week for those 8 years. Today my parents showed up to get a table at 4:00pm (well before rush hour no one was there). The new manager told my parents they couldn't get a seat for our family because the whole family was there. He proceeded to tell them that people come here much more frequently and spend much more money than my family so they were told instead to sit at the bar instead of getting a table.
