    David M.

Hello, my name is David and I am a U.S. Army vet and former employee of IE. I want to first say that IE does offer an amazing product. The windows are of the highest quality and everything is made custom for your home which is something truly unique. However, what's also unique is how horribly the business has been ran. I started working here about 3 weeks ago, and since I started it has been a downhill experience. Initially I was met with open arms and a hope that I would have a great experience working here. I was connected to the manager Jeff by a good friend of mine since I had been struggling to find a new job during the pandemic. Before the pandemic hit I was going to college full time and helping run a non-profit business that helped veterans like myself find jobs in the music festival industry. Since the live music industry took a big hit I decided to take the year away from school and work for the time being so my fiancé and I could move into our first home together. On the day of my interview my first red flag was that no one around the office wore a mask. I had opened up to Jeff about how important it was that people were being safe and he at first seemed to understand the struggles people were going through because of the pandemic, but on my first day of work I soon realized this company had no care for its employees health. All the canvassers who worked door to door sales would all drive packed into cars out into neighborhoods all day with no masks on. Some would even go up to people's doors and not even wear a mask while talking to them. Around this point and time I began to express concern to my fiancé and I began looking for a new job. About a week later I noticed Jeff wasn't coming into the office anymore and I would see Paul, Mario, and other management speaking in private and not really giving any answers on if people were getting sick. My fiancé and I woke up that Sunday and we felt horribly ill. I called off work with my fiancé and we both went and got tested. I reached out to one of my co-workers who also wasn't feeling good and he had said he couldn't smell or taste anything. That is when I knew something was wrong. My friend who referred me to the position then shared with me that Jeff had posted on Facebook the day before that he has been in the hospital with Covid and Pnuemonia, and I had not been made aware that I was in close proximity to someone who tested positive. People continued to not wear masks while at work, and drive in packed cars. Before this Jeff was training high school in closed space not wearing masks and being very close to people. I wore a mask all day at work so thankfully my fiancé and I did test negative for the virus. When I returned to work I demanded that I not drive with everyone else and drive my own vehicle. Only after I said that did they enforce everyone driving in their own vehicles, but even up until the day I quit yesterday people were still driving together and not social distancing in the slightest bit. Jeff and the other managers have created a truly toxic environment. Jeff laid in a hospital bed near death and didn't have the sympathy or remorse to correct his wrong doings. When I put in my two weeks they told me it would be better off if I left right away and didn't come back. On a final note if you have younger kids working here please have them find other employment. Jeff during training would let high schoolers smoke vapes literally right in front of him, and would talk about movies he likes to watch such as "Honky Holocaust" and make racial and sexist jokes around the office. I made this post because during this time it's important to keen people safe and provide a safe work environment for employees, and Illinois energy is not doing that. This is a great product and service they are offering, but the canvassing department is a ticking time bomb heading towards disaster. I have served my country and run my own business prior to this year and like to believe I know how to do the right thing and show good leadership. If I was sick and knew that I could have just gotten all my employees sick I would have made that known. There are some great people working here who truly want to get better in the sales world and learn about the industry, but the people in charge are their ultimate downfall. Thank you for reading.

please stay away from this place. Set up for a estimate. The sale rep advised me or what I need or whom had to be here. She made it a point to tell me they replaced and wouldn't fix my patio door. so rude. When I advised her she was rude and I should cancel my estimate she said ok. wow do your self a favor and don't waste your time

Illinois Energy Windows and Siding won't stop calling no matter how many times I ask them to stop.  I have a brand new house that won't need windows or siding for decades to come, yet I'm sure they'll still be calling by then. If I don't answer the phone they follow up with robo- texts. I'm going to update this review with every unwanted call and text until they stop.  This company's sales tactics are absolutely ridiculous. Update 04/06/2021: SHOCKING!! IEWS is back to calling me again. Isn't it illegal for them to keep calling after you ask to be taken off their list? These people have been calling me for windows and siding for going on eight years. EIGHT YEARS!

    Broken window

Mike came to my house for a quote on new windows and doors and reluctantly I agreed and gave him a deposit check to hold. When I called the next day I was told Mike had to come back out so I could sign papers and get my check back. It was two more hours of high pressure sales until I finally told him no. He then stole my paperwork and cashed my check that I told him wouldn't have funds. No answers to my calls so now I'm dealing with the police over this headache scam company. Beware.

We started the process in early January and were told the windows would not be ready until perhaps early March, but were pleasantly surprised when Mike said they were ready early. We would have had them the first week of February had it not been for the famous below 0 degree temperatures in the area that week. We had them installed the second week of February instead. Pros: -Received and had windows installed earlier than anticipated. -Took 2.5 days for all of our 27 windows and back glass door replacement. Due to cold temperatures, they worked one at a time so the house wouldn't get too cold. -was honest and fair on pricing and received referral bonus up front. -Mike always answered our calls with questions promptly and personally would come by to inspect and/or help facilitate letting his vendors in if needed. -You could tell the difference in drafts in the corrected areas from inside day 1. No further drafts and they look great! Cons: -4-5 months after installation and 3 of our 27 windows have leaks. We alerted Mike to this and he sent his worker to take a look - they said it was due to the trim on the outside that they didn't replace. Before installation, they indicated that it is not part of their services to replace. However, they didn't tell us before or during that our trims were so old that they would leak - we would have replaced them prior to the new windows if we knew this. We asked if we needed to replace them before and they said no. One of the windows that is leaking does not even have trim on it. When they came out to resolve, they added caulk around the trim and bent flashing for us for the front windows. The flashing should have been installed in the initial installation to prevent leaks. We are not able to get it installed until the new trim pieces are up... Even though they did not inform us about possible leaks, they should have removed the trim and put a water barrier in place before installation and before new trim was able to be installed. -Mike and his installers have a bit of an issue with taking accountability for issues. We were disappointed when his installers broke the interior of a window upon installation - it was safe to use, and they put cardboard over it, but the resolution took 20 seconds and Mike's installers insist it was somehow the manufacturer's fault. It took weeks for us to have this corrected, even though, again, resolution took 20 seconds. -While in the process of service correction for said window, the manufacturer was inflexible on timing and was scheduling more than a week out. Mike's response was that it isn't in his hands. No apology for the inconvenience of the broken window or the inflexibility of his vendor. -The manufacturing vendor cancelled day of (1 hour before). Reschedule availability wasn't until 10 days later. -The caulking the install team did had bubbles and cracks in some windows and just didn't look like a professional did it. When we told Mike of this issue, he said caulking is an "art" and his people are really just installers and don't need to be perfect at caulking. We personally feel that if installing windows is 100% of their jobs, caulking would be part of that job and they should look 100% well done. We had to redo some of it right off the bat. -Every issue that came up, Mike would just say he hoped we could focus on the positive aspects of the experience. It felt very dismissive. -They left aluminum scraps scattered across the backyard where our young children play. Cleanup in the back specifically was just not done to standards. We referred him to my mother's windows and they generally did okay, but did break one of her personal stained glass art by not being careful. No compensation or resolution was offered, minus an apology. We appreciated his team's work and like the products in general, but there is definitely room for improvement in the customer service department and potentially the product itself with the leaks. Considering part of his selling point was 100% satisfaction, we were left disappointed in that aspect.

Here's how they stood out: They had excellent communication. From Angelo's estimate all the way to passing inspection, they were on top of their game. The estimate had every combination of options listed with exactly what they were going to do and photos of the planned work. We were assigned a field supervisor (Justin, I believe?) who would come out on the same day to inspect any issues we brought up. Our contact with the office via Cindy and Anthony was also superb and always timely. The work was done swiftly and well. The roofers were done before I got back from work. Siding and gutters are more involved, but they did excellent there as well and Roman et al. were excellent to work with, took feedback very well (see communication above), and were very hard and efficient workers. All in all, we were done with our project long before other houses in the same subdivision who had all signed up with doorknocker companies, and they delivered a high level of quality. To be clear, their estimate was slightly higher (my gut says 10% higher, but it's been a while since I reviewed the proposals) than some other offers we received, but for the work that we were doing, level of customization, and communication, we wouldn't make a different choice. Absolutely a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Siding and Windows Group!

I'm usually not one to spend time getting a bunch of quotes and just rely on Yelp reviews to make a purchasing decision, but this was pricey enough purchase that i figured I should do my due diligence.' Siding & Windows Group was one of the 4 companies I had come out for a quote. We ended up with them for a few reasons: - Their quote was competitive - They were able to spray paint the interior trim with our existing paint color - They were able to match the exterior trim as closely as possible to our windows outside - Anthony at Siding & Windows Group was very responsive We placed the order on August 22nd, which is my bday. I can't say new doors was what i wanted for my bday, but i guess this is being a homeowner in your 40s. The new doors weren't installed until November 6th and we just hoped for no big storms and got lucky. Anthony checked in a few times on when they'd be installed and pushed it back a few days due to other projects. The actual installation took about a day, which wasn't too bad. A week later they came to spray paint, which honestly seemed like a much bigger project than installing the doors. That took 2 days and went smoothly, although there was a little confusion about them not knowing what color to paint, etc. It turned out beautifully and while the doors look very similar to our old doors I like the look of these even better. The exterior finish isn't a perfect match, but i think a big part of that is our old paint on our windows as faded. One day we'll touch it all up, but for now we're looking forward to a break in paying for anything for the house. I learned there are a lot of companies in the area for new windows/doors, but we were satisfied with this one and would use them again.
