I want to mention again that I was not even talking about his field of expertise. Daniel even called me back about a question I posed about state taxes. Apparently he looked it up and updated me. His overall demeanor was so pleasing and his attitude was just superb. I know when the time comes to employ a financial advisor I will be contacting Daniel! Thanks Daniel!

I was very impressed with my free evaluation consultation session with Daniel…read more I have always been hesitant with financial advisers because I've experienced a few of them who are "pushy" and are always trying to upsell. Furthermore I was a little concerned that this eval would turn into a "buy a full financial plan from me" type of thing. This was not the case with Daniel at all. He asked a lot of great questions, he took a lot of notes and gave me a great idea of where I'm at in my financial planning adventure. For me, I've done a lot myself and he was great to bounce ideas of things that I have been thinking or what I can do better. We both agreed that it probably wasn't time for me to dive all in to a full financial plan due to where I am at in my life and what I have been doing on my own. He was forthcoming in that he doesn't think that, at this moment, he would add significant amount more value to what I have already done on my own. He recommended that he can be available to bounce ideas off of in an hourly fashion. To me this is huge. I was half-expecting to not get any ideas/thoughts without signing up for a full financial plan. That Daniel walked through all my finances and gave me great ideas and recommendations. Then for him to say that I probably don't need him 100% of the time shows that he tries to understand his clients first rather than try to just take money from them. Greatly impressed and I will definitely be coming to him for advice and when my life changes where I would need his full services, will be coming to him again.

Once paid, they offered little further assistance. Significant miscommunication between staff members on essential elements of our filing. Longer version: We hired a tax preparation service to help navigate changes to our filing status after getting married. Our tax consultant, Garrett Jones, began working on our application with the wrong filing status. After correcting this error, there was poor communication regarding important changes that needed to be followed up on, which resulted in IRS notices arriving in June. When I raised my concerns with Garrett, his guidance was vague and he offered no clear timeline for resolution. Weeks later, with no progress made, I was left with the impression that once he had been paid, his investment in us as clients had ended. I spent approximately 10 hours on the phone with the IRS trying to sort out the status of our account. Throughout this process, Garrett maintained that I owed approximately $2,000 to the IRS -- when in fact I had a pending refund of approximately $2,000. In the end, we were left with a significant miscalculation, poor customer service, and no choice but to resolve everything ourselves. I'm still unclear what the fee we paid to Crossroads Financial Planning actually covered. Highly recommend taking your taxes elsewhere.

He's helped me achieve strong returns on my investments, and beyond that, he's been incredibly helpful with other areas of my financial planning as well including opening and structuring my life insurance in a way that actually made sense for my long-term goals. What I really appreciate is that he takes the time to explain things clearly without talking over you or rushing the process. Everything feels intentional, transparent, and well thought out. I never felt pressured just supported and informed. It's rare to find someone who is both highly competent and easy to work with, but Owen strikes that balance perfectly. If you're looking for a financial advisor who is professional, responsive, and truly knows what he's doing, I highly recommend him.

I opened a $2,000 IRA with Schwab 25 years ago as a passive way to invest in the stock market. Initially, I mainly used the phone service to help me learn about the market and terms/procedures on investing. Over time and with some luck (thank you Costco), my funds increased. As I approach retirement, I wanted to get more in depth assistance with my investing. I've been blessed to have a couple of 401k plans with past employers and both of my parents left me a modest amount of inheritance, so I need help with a strategy and also Roth conversions. I had multiple meetings with three companies (and called a couple others), and Schwab proved to be the best choice for me. The level of service all depends on what you want. With simple, no minimum, no fee service you have access to people in this office and their 24 hour line. Once you hit a reasonable threshold, you add a Financial Consultant at no charge. And finally, if you wish to have them to manage your portfolio, for a percentage fee you can add a Wealth Advisor. I am not charged any commission fees. They are key in helping me with all financial matters including tax strategies, partnered referrals for supplemental insurance and trust creation. Compared to other financial management companies, Schwab offers various options that charge a fee either equal to or less than all others I vetted. They do not charge a fee for cash/cash equivalent investments and have options such as bonds management that are lower than all those I interviewed or made calls to get fee information. The personal service I receive has been far and away above all others. They listen to me at our meetings and I have as much input on my investments as I want. It truly feels like a team effort. Thankful for Schwab and my team (Brian - Investment Consultant, Scott - Financial Consultant and Jonathan - Wealth Advisor).

I was later informed that it wasn't a fraud but merely a misplacement of deposits to my other bank. 1. The fraud was misinformed to me by Victoria at their banking division. Due to her misleading statements of that someone cashed my check at 53rd bank at New York, under fear, I was induced to make the decision to freeze the account. 2. No one at their banking division called me to report to me what's going on. My fear index was at all time high when I was out of town and have limited resources to find out what's going on. 3. I've made a lot of phone calls and later found out that it was just a misplaced deposit into my other bank. I've informed them and Charles Schwab had known that it was just a check misplacement but failed to lift the restriction and wrote off the investigation. In summary, this bank mislead, misrepresented data and induced client to make wrong decision. The customer service at brokerage firm was unable to coordinate with their fraud investigation for correct data. Finally, they used this misleading tactic to freeze my bank account since last year. I've made so many phone calls and some of my payments to credit card company got returned unpaid because they placed the restriction on my banking account by knowing that there's no fraud. I have called customer service so many times requesting to lift the restriction and to transfer my money back to the brokerage account. As of today, there's no transfer and the restriction is still placed there. This is my question to your management team at Charles Schwab - How long are you planning on having this kind of financial abuse to senior citizen?

My longtime wealth manager, Yumi, along with Brandon and the rest of the team, consistently provides clear, thoughtful guidance. I usually meet over video, so it was a real bonus to sit down with everyone in person. My sister-in-law uses Vanguard, and since they don't offer in-person support, I'm especially grateful for the face-to-face service Fidelity provides. Now retired at 61 after sticking to the long-term plan we built together, I can honestly say their guidance has paid off. I highly recommend this team--just remember, you still have to educate yourself and follow the plan. They're great, but they're not spinning gold like Rumpelstiltskin. Since I had a "profile" in the system years ago, I wasn't able to open it on-line because it was asking me for 20+ year old data to verify my identity. A call to customer service, and they still couldn't verify me, and asked me to go into a center. Today, I went in explaining the situation. After checking my ID and verifying me, they still were not able to "update" their systems in the office. So then they passed me around to "advisors" who then proceeded to call the general help line that I had called before. The help line couldn't do anything and wanted to verify my identity again through a series of questions about my employment over 20 years ago! After a series of transfers back and forth, they finally managed to verify it was me, but one last transfer back to someone who can make some changes and the advisor decides to hang up. Back to square one, where now he says just print out some forms, and fill it in, and then they hope it will match and the systems will align. All of this takes over an hour and I give up and just walk away and headed to Schwab. Also they don't even know their own products. They were advising me that I needed to bring in my own plan adoption agreement. I ask what that is. They said I need to draft one. A quick search with ChatGPT and it says that Fidelity will provide one for me and I just have to fill it out! I show them the verbage and said nope you need to do it yourself. We don't have one for you. Do you really want someone who can't even figure out how to open an account managing your money. Probably not.
