You can eat here at our own risk. My coworker and I used to eat lunch here regularly. The food was priced right, and wasn't bad, it wasn't great either, but it was worth the $. With that being said I will never go back to Imperial Garden again. I had to stop ordering any of the chicken lunch specials because the chicken had a freezer burn taste to it, so I started ordering the shrimp lunch special, which brings me to why I am writing this review. The shrimp also had that left to long in the freezer taste, and I did not get the soup that is supposed to come with the special. Overall, I would say the price is cheap, but you do get what you pay for, and there are way too many alternatives in this area to have to settle. read more

I've been searching for a great Chinese restaurant forever and now I've finally found one. So good

This is why Yelp rocks: After searching high and low. I finally found the best Chinese food in Houston; with a cherry on top... they deliver. I must admit I haven't been to the restarant yet, therefore this review is on food and service only. We've ordered a few times now with no complaints what so ever, maybe they could deliver at 2am across town, lol. But seriously after reading the other review we ordered the fried dumplings and they are the best I've tasted anywhere. The portions are big, the meat is tender and tasty. Orange chicken is very good. The shrimp fried rice has good sized shrimp in it, its not dry or burnt like some other places. The service has always been fast and friendly. I now can say "let's make it a movie night we'll order in Chinese". One more thing the white rice that comes with Orange chicken is really good fluffy, sticky, and clean tasting. read more

I'm surprised to not see any previous reviews! Perhaps, it's because this place is a hidden gem and NOT in Chinatown or in an area with a large Asian population... Anyhow, I have got to say that Imperial Garden has the best Chinese food I've eaten in Houston thus far. It is a family style restaurant, and they have an extensive menu of traditional Chinese (Beijing?) fare. The food comes in large portions, so you will definitely have leftovers. Between the six of us, I believe, we ordered around 7-8 dishes, and we had doggie bags in the end. The one dish that stood out to me was the baked bean curd with egg. It basically is a large flat piece of baked tofu stuffed with steamed eggs. Yum!! The food wasn't too salty nor too heavy. Normally whenever I eat Chinese food at restaurants, I'll get sleepy (from all that MSG) or I'll have a stomach ache, but after this meal--even though I ate beyond my capacity--I did not feel 10 pounds heavier, and my tummy didn't make funny noises. You can order online (only plus about this place), I always have to call to see how long till I can get my food, you are forced to pay a tip if you are 5 miles away from them, they take over 1.5 hours to deliver. Last night I ordered over 30.00 worth of food, I placed my order at 7:37 pm and the delivery man did NOT deliver my food until 9:35 pm. The food was COLD! I called the lady at the restaurant many times to ask where my food was and all she kept saying was "he on the way". It does not take almost 2 hours, nor is "he on the way" for 2 hours. This used to be one of my favorite places to go since it is so close to home. I have been coming here for over 10 years and even tip when the owners are working, to help their bottom line. Today, they took my order, brought the wrong dish out and instead of making a fuss out of it, after I ate around the parts I didnt like, I asked them to credit me for the difference. The short haired lady behind the counter who is a friend of the family actually laughed at me, didnt even say sorry, and returned with a full price credit card slip and walked away. I signed the slip, left zero tip and will never come here again. This is how you treat your loyal patrons? These people are greedy and their food is mediocre at best. They are lucky the Chinese food on this side of town is horrible to begin. They would not last anywhere else. GO ACROSS THE STREET TO THE OTHER CHINESE RESTAURANT. Their salted chicken and shrimp fried rice is SOOOOOO good omg. The beef curry is greatly paired with it! They do deliver a lot. I think that's where most of their business comes from. Parking is good. You won't have to worry about that. The lady that works there is a short Asian lady with a short hairdo. She is really sweet and somewhat chatty. But it's cute though. Poor experience at Imperial Gardens. The air conditioning was inadequate. The carpeting was worn/soiled/old. The booth I sat in was repaired with duct tape. The place was not appealing. I was a regular customer for Imperial Garden. This place has gotten worse and worse every time I order. I try and go out of my routine order and every time, it's a huge disappointment. They are stingy as hell with their shrimp. Let's say you order a large entree ($11.00) that supposed to have shrimp and vegetables. What you will receive is FOUR(4) shrimp, counted exact, and a mountain of veggies. When you try and ask for more shrimp, expect to get interrupted and talked over whether you're a rude or patient customer and they will tell you they have a placed policy of 4 shrimp in any dish you order. In a LARGE entree? Really? And when you complain, they simply tell you to f*ck off. Order at your own risk. Expect poor service and low satisfaction. read more

I craved this Chinese food two years ago when i was pregnant with my son Keelan. I moved across town but now I'm back up here and I HAD to go get the general tso chicken. It is delicious. They use white meat and the difference in quality is so apparent. I am from DC by way of New York and the bar is pretty high on Chinese take out. This place is in the top 5 places I've ever been. No matter where you live in town, Imperial Dragon is worth the drive. You can dine in and take your leftovers home. I am so glad I reconnected with this place. The Hunan fried rice and shrimp rolls were excellent, only place I've gone to that still adds bean sprouts to the rice.

My husband and I usually order from a different place but felt that it was going down hill so we wanted to try a new place... The lady that answered the phone was very nice... we ordered Hot and sour soup, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, Curry beef (my husband added broccoli for $1.00), and I got a dinner combo with Hunan Chicken. We also received free chicken lo mein because our order was over $35. The hot and sour soup was good, not out of this world, but definitely yummy and enjoyable - it satisfied my pregnancy craving. My husband LOVED the curry beef he said it had just the right amount of heat - he even ended up pouring the left over sauce over his lo mein because he enjoyed it so much! The Hunan chicken was good and had a little kick to it which was nice - the portion was HUGE and i'll enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. I love Imperial Garden! It is a hidden gem located on the corner of Falling Creek and 1960 on the side of Chase Bank and Jack in the Box. They have HUGE portions for a steal! The best part is that you can order online and pay online and they'll deliver to you. I usually get the shrimp fried rice and can eat it three different times because the portion is so large. If you get the lunch portions, you get an eggroll and soup also. Try the walnut shrimp, it's delicious too. read more

I really love this place. My husband and I were looking for good Chinese in our area, so of course I checked yelp! Since trying it, I've eaten here about once a week. First off they have free delivery (with a $18 min) which takes about 45 mins to show up. Second, the owners and staff are really friendly. And, the food is great. I've had multiple dishes off their menu. I love the egg drop soup, their crab puffs are AWESOME, the steamed dumplings are yummy, their house fried rice is sooooo good, their kung pow shrimp is spicy and delicious. I've been going to this place for years now. They deliver in my area so it makes it convenient also. This has to be my girlfriend and I's most hit up spot when we don't know what to eat. We ALWAYS get the General Tso's chicken, which chicken fried rice. We split it between the two of us. Overall really tasty, rice can sometimes be a bit dried out but not anything crazy. The chicken is cooked good, sometimes has a tad bit too much cornstarch but overall tastes good. Their General Tso's sauce isn' too spicy, but it has a nice flavor. Giving it 3 stars because It's not amazing chinese food but it's the best we've found, and we are regulars there so they usually know what we will order once we walk in. I don't want to lead anyone on and say it's 5 stars when the food isn't that high. The overall restaurant smells kind of funny, but it's just your typical hole in the wall chinese food spot that has good food, decent prices and delivers. Can't beat that read more
