We had an excellent experience with GMD Quartz for our kitchen renovation countertops. Andrew, the…read moreowner, was extremely professional and his communication was outstanding from start to finish. His measurements were precise and he was very helpful in guiding us through the entire process. Their showroom has a great selection of quartz slabs, and I really appreciated being able to take samples home so I could see how they looked in our space before making a final decision. We had beautiful waterfall countertops installed in our kitchen as well as vanity tops with backsplash, and the installation team did a phenomenal job. They were very professional, meticulous, and paid attention to every detail during the installation. Thank you to Andrew and his team. This is a wonderful family business and we are extremely happy with the results. If you're looking for high-quality quartz countertops and waterfall installations in the Chicago area, I highly recommend GMD Quartz.

Davan installed our new quartz countertops on 08/27/2025 after shopping around for several months…read more We ended up selecting quartz countertops from MSI. Some helpful hints based on our experience: 1. A big countertop dealer like MSI, located in Elk Grove Village, has a very large showroom where you can see the full countertop slabs. We had some preferences based on the web site pictures and the little quartz samples, but ended up selecting a different slab once we were in the showroom. You really want to see the full countertop slabs before your decision is finalized. 2. We were really disappointed with the Home Depot service, which is The Countertop Factory - Midwest. There was an extremely hard sell visit to our house and a take-it-or-leave it price. 3. Many quartz countertop installation services want you to select quartz they already have in stock. Davan let us shop around and we selected an MSI countetop, which MSI already had in stock. Our job therefore proceeded quickly from final slab selection to installation (less than two weeks). 4. I was unnecessarily nervous about our kitchen tile backsplash when our old formica countertops were replaced with new quartz countertops. We wanted to retain the old kitchen backsplash. That was not a problem and the installation occurred smoothly.

He worked with me on the size and found a remnant that perfectly matched my existing counter top. Once I assembled my island and called Davan I was ready, they came a day later! I am so happy with my counter top. Everyone there are exceptionally nice and very accommodating. They give you that personal warm feeling instead of the harsh and non caring attitudes we encounter. I highly recommend Davan for your counter top needs. The installers were very efficient, clean and quick.

But after many unanswered emails and phone calls to them, we became frustrated and decided to look for another company. I did a Yelp search and sent messages to 5 different businesses. Dejan was the first person to respond (7 minutes after I sent the initial message - talk about responsive!!!) I can confidently say that DK Stone's prices are the best in the market after comparing them amongst the other 4 competitors. The best part is that everyone else had told me that I would need to buy at least 2 slabs for the dimensions of our countertop. I asked Dejan how many slabs we would need and he said ONE SLAB for both island countertop and stovetop countertop!! He was able to calculate a configuration that would get everything done with minimal waste - this was huge in terms of cost. He had his guys come out to measure 5 days later and the counter tops were installed a couple of weeks after that. Everything was perfect, they were so efficient. Okay so now you have an idea of their work but what about service? Someone had accidentally taken our garbage disposal ring when they were cleaning up after the job so we couldn't get the disposal installed - we reached out to Dejan and he had someone drop it off. He could have easily ghosted us since the job was done but he was still just as responsive. We seriously cannot recommend DK Stone enough - we are so impressed and after being let down by so many other companies this was the breath of fresh air we needed.

okay, I'll update here since they finally installed the small granite piece for my stove backsplash…read moreand accommodated my request for first thing in the am. The 3 guys who arrived called ahead 20 min, and were super careful to measure thrice and keep measuring and using a level as the piece dried. I felt very confident watching their concern to get the piece on the backsplash in an attractive and straight manner. They could not have been more professional. I'll say it once and say it again: when you deal with the salespeople at The Granite Corporation (that's their real name not "Granite") you kind of doubt that they have a clue about what they're selling. I don't know what will happen and it takes too long for them to finish up a sale, even though they mean well. However, when the measure & install team shows up, those are the people who really know what they're doing. They are top pros. I asked Sam, my sales person, how are they going to make sure the glue holds on a vertical application, and she did not know. I asked her if I should cover my stove, and she said, don't worry (of course, I did). When they showed up, they scored the back of both my backsplash and the new piece, so more glue would be applied. They applied glue all around the perimeter (not visable). They taped the piece in place and I put a spongy rug on my stove (just in case). They said, glue sets in 10 minutes and they held it that long, and it is good to go in a couple hours when I can take off tape. I would have liked to know that there would be a little granite dust in my kitchen ahead of time, to have removed everything from countertops, but they did hold up a vacuum while they scored my backsplash, so I cannot say that I see any dust (besides my own). They scored the new piece outside my house. The treasure here is the cutting, measuring & install team. They are premium craftsmen, very experienced and know how to communicate with the public. They're the ones who should be selling the granite!

We're still in the process of making changes, but the new countertops from GRANITE CORP were a huge step toward our final vision. Pairing honey oak cabinets with the grays and blues I love has been a challenge. Wall paint and backsplash still to come. Granite Corp was amazingly helpful - found just the right quartz countertop for us and an affordable composite sink. Best price by over $2000 (we did get in on a holiday special). The entire experience was perfect.

Jim and his team at Independent Remodeling did an amazing job on our first-floor renovation,…read moreexceeding our expectations. From the start, Jim was responsive and easy to work with. He has great ideas and isn't afraid to tell you if something you want to do isn't necessarily worth the expense (which we very much appreciated). They delivered high-quality work that leveraged their knowledge and expertise to ensure our new space was functional and beautiful. Some things you look for in a general contractor and rarely find are the ability to stay close to budget and timelines, and Jim and his team did both of these! Jim does a thorough of a job putting designs/estimates together, and the only change order we had (that wasn't scope creep on our part) was for some poor electrical a previous owner did that Jim couldn't have anticipated. In addition, Jim keeps your project moving. We rarely went two days without someone at the house making progress on our project; there were no extended delays due to materials or labor issues. Jim and his team also excel at problem solving. Every project has hiccups along the way, but every issue is tackled and Jim won't stop until the solution works for you. As an example, we were having trouble matching the color of some new hardwood floors to older, existing floors in the house. He helped us put down 16 stain samples and promised we would keep trying until we got it right (and we finally did!). It was very clear our happiness was extremely important to him. If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, affordable, and fun to work with, Independent Remodeling is who you should work with. It's hard to find a company you would want to use a second time, but Jim will be the first person we call for future projects in our house, and who we will recommend to friends and family if they are looking to complete a project in their home.
