I went to the Marble & Granite Tech in Barrington, looking for a remnant quartzite. I found the perfect piece. Since I didn't need it for several weeks, I was told they would tag it and hold it for me. After several weeks my sales person called and said that the piece that I selected was not big enough for the side splash. I returned to Marble and Granite and identified another piece that would work for the side splash. After several weeks, I called and said I was ready for somebody to come to my house and measure. Somebody from scheduling would call and set an appointment. They never called. After a month of waiting, they called and set up the appointment. Measurements were taken. After another month I received a call stating that there was an issue with the vein match. I returned to Marble and Granite. The remnant that they were showing me was different from the one that I had initially selected. They said "no this is the one you selected. I took a picture of the original and it was different. However, the second remnant was a good match. So, I went with that piece. Finally, after several weeks, they came to install. Everything looks great, until the clear calk dried. It looked like black mold was growing between the wall and the back splash. I sent a picture to my salesperson who turfed me to Tom. This guy was the most arrogant and insulting person that I have ever met. He said it was the backing that was showing. After going back and forth with him his suggestion was to paint it the same as the wall. Not an acceptable answer. After the clear silicone dried, I noticed that the edges on the entire counter top were jagged. I'm not a fabricator, but this looks like the blade was dull or they didn't take the time to polish it properly. I am very disappointed with the workmanship. We had MGT measure, cut and install our quartzite kitchen counters and they did a great job. The crews were friendly, careful and cleaned up afterwards. All measurements were perfect. After the install we decided to install a matching backsplash under a window and Tom Koesler helped us find a matching remnant of taj mahal quartzite. Unfortunately the installer (which was me, not MGT) broke one of the 3 pieces , MGT did however offer to repair the piece which they did, and the work was again perfect. It is never to late to respond to great customer service and excellent prices and products. In March, 2013 we were redoing our entire kitchen. We went to 5 Marble and Granite shops to look at counter tops. No one would give us any final costs, prices, or time lines for work. We were very, very frustrated then we were guided to Marble & Granite Tech in Barrington, Illinois. We were COMPLETELY SATISFIED. Seven years later people still comment on our beautiful kitchen as they walk into our home. On March 14, 2013 we walked into Marble & Granite with no appointment. Tom Koessler, greeted us, and within two hours he had everything done and we were out the door. Our granite was selected after an hour walk through the warehouse, final costs, laser measurements scheduled, house dates, installation, and follow up. DONE ! Tom also directed us on ways to save money on our purchase and we ended spending half of what other places were "roughly quoting." Tom also guided us to their new Eclipse kitchen sink and faucet products and then proceeded to discount the price by 50% including a free installation when the granite was installed. That too has been a great product. So here is what just happened... After 7 years our faucet developed a leak so I called Tom Koessler. Tom referred us to Jim Olson from Eclipse. Jim immediately sent out the replacement hose and spring assembly at NO COST ... no questions asked. After 7 years he just sent out the new parts. After 7 years! Another example of great customer service. Our purchase with Marble & Granite Tech was a 5 STAR experience. Every time we walk into our home we get that "good feeling" and it begins at the kitchen. I'm surprisingly disappointed with the service here, as everything started out great. I needed a quartz cap to finish off our bathroom remodel and the gentlemen I met with said it would be no problem making one from remnants. I brought in a tile to match up with and we walked the yard and picked out a color. He said he'd email me the quote that day and get it on the production schedule for completion in 3-4 days... I called back two days after we met and was told he was off that day and the next. So I left him a voicemail and called back two days later, only to be told again that he was off the next two days. They were also unable to find my order in the system because it was never actually entered, nor did I ever receive a quote. After leaving two voicemails and receiving zero call backs, I had to go a different direction which added about 5 days on to the remodel timeline. You may get better service with a larger project, but if you need a small, one-off piece made, I'd try elsewhere. read more

Recently had a granite countertop installed over a wet bar cabinet and Marble & Granite Tech did a wonderful job. The Cabinet was actually a credenza with the Top removed, a small sink put in and amall refrigerator next to the cabinet. The Granite went over all. We redid our kitchen. We took a long time to find the right countertop and a fabricator. MGT directed us to the right places to find the type of granite we were looking for. They even called ahead to several places to check who had it. They did an awesome job matching the veins in the seams. They have lazer measuring and a program that shows how the slabs will be cut and what it will look like when done. This was very useful for those like me who have trouble visualizing the giant slabs in the kitchen. They were very professional and did the work in a timely manner. We were recommended this location by the fireplace company we are working with. All we needed was a remnant for our hearth. It started out well and we worked with a nice gentleman to narrow down our colors. He said he would call us in a few days and make an appointment for us to view our options. A week goes by without a call. When I call him back he says we are next on his stack of paperwork. Tells us to come in on Saturday to see our options. A few days later we get a call canceling our appointment due to snow. Ok? We call back to reschedule for the next Saturday. The guy on the phone says. No problem. We will have everything pulled and ready for you. Saturday comes and we show up on time. Upon arrival we are greeted with blank stares when we say we have an appointment. We speak to three different people, tell them who we are and who we are working with. Finally Donna comes out and says they don't have anything pulled for us. And offers to start the whole process over again Sorry, we gave you plenty of chances. We will go elsewhere. read more

We were over sold and under delivered! We purchased quartz counter-tops for our kitchen. The seamless look that we were expecting did not happen. Instead we have two huge noticeable seams. They sent the installers out and they were not able to do anything other than to say that that was the best that they could do. I tried to hold up final payment until someone with authority contacted me to at least discuss my concerns. The only follow up that we got was calls from the accounts receivable people wanting payment. We hoped for better service than the big box retailrs, but got much less than expected. read more

I used this company for granite counter tops. The sales woman was very helpful and very friendly. Upon signing the contract and picking out a slab the problems began. After approving the final design and setting up an install date the installers showed up 4 hours late and did not leave until around 9 pm. I essentially wasted a half of personal day at work for a job that they couldn't complete. When I asked for the cut out from the sink they told me they did not have it. This was something that I requested from the beginning. I then spent five weeks trying to arrange for them to come out and complete the install(minor odds and ends). I had to call every other day for three weeks before I finally got a hold of the person to schedule the completion of the job. You would think that in the customer service world you would at least call the customer back after you had gotten your money. That all said and done, the granite does look very good. read more

After doing research on granite companies in the area, Marble & Granite Tech installed counter tops in our kitchen last month. First of all, the customer service of both sales and installation team is OUTSTANDING. They were extremely helpful and very professional; very easy to work with. They had to do some special cutting of our cabinets in order to get the sink we wanted to fit - it looked difficult to do but they did it with no problem!! Everything happened in a timely manner. After the initial measuring, the granite and sink were in after only a week! In terms of pricing, we were able to stay in our budget and got exactly what we wanted. Last but not least, we are most pleased with the quality of the granite. My kitchen looks TOP NOTCH (Loved the edging they did!) It's exactly what I had in mind. After I made my selection, Mark, the young man who came to my home to measure, was prompt and courteous. Very disappointed in the results of my bathroom. With the help of Rose, I picked out a cabinet, sink and hardware. Rose was a great help. Next came the granite. Kathy ushered me outdoors to show me a slab of granite. She insisted that this granite will look GREAT. I asked her twice if she knew what my cabinets looked like and she said YES! I thought she was the expert so I went with the granite she recommended. I hate my bathroom. The granite does not go with the cabinets at all. I am blaming myself too for going along with Kathy's recommendations. Never again! Do NOT deal with this lady Kathy on granite. Horrible!! So disappointed. Actually, I feel that she just wanted to get rid of this piece of granite and I was the scapegoat! read more

Now that the bathroom counter top is in it looks great but poor communication made the process a lot harder than it had to be. My wife and daughter went in and picked everything out. The salesman was very nice, wrote everything down that my wife wanted, had her sign it and said that they would call to make an appointment to measure in a couple days. A week later my wife called to find out what was going on and was told that we did not have a signed contract. They made an appointment to measure and my wife asked them to bring out the contract. The guy who came out to measure asked me for the signed contract when he was finished. I told him I did not have it and he said they would get it straightened out. Another week went by with no call. Marble and Granite Tech did not call us once through out the whole process. My wife called at the end of the week and was again told that we did not have a signed contract. The salesman finally emailed us the contract. They said it would take about two weeks to make and they would call us to set up an appointment to come out and install. Three to four weeks later we called to set up the install. When the installers came out they said that we were supposed to have the old counter top removed. He called the office and they said that the contractor had told them install. Now almost everything I've ever had installed included removal but our contractor was already scheduled to install the faucets that night and the guy told me they would be out the next morning so he came out and removed the old counter top that night. The next morning when they did not show up by noon I called them and women on the phone told me that they had said next Tuesday morning, not tomorrow morning. She said they were already booked up and if she could get out any earlier she would. It was already Friday so we ended up with out a sink for our kids for the next four days. As I said it the beginning the counter top looks great and I am glad it is finally installed but if we decide to put in another top I will look for someone with a little better communication skills that Marble and Granite Tech. read more
