The young lady who helped us took the time to explain how everything worked and let me know that, since it was my first time, it would probably take about 10 minutes to get the hang of throwing an axe. She was absolutely right! After a few minutes of practice, I started hitting the target and had so much fun. One thing that really stood out was that they brought complimentary popcorn to our table, which was such a thoughtful touch. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making sure everyone had a great time. The establishment itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a great atmosphere. In addition to axe throwing, they also offer darts, pool tables, and a golf simulator, so there's something for everyone. I'm so glad we discovered this place. My fiance and I rented out Camp Nawakwa for our wedding in late August 2019. We knew we wanted a…read moresummer camp wedding and after touring several camps in the LA area, we choose Nawakwa. We had a small wedding (about 75 guests) with a lot of young kids and babies. I could not be happier with Nawakwa as a wedding venue. The entire camp is gorgeous, as are the surrounding woods and mountains, and the ceremony site in particular was breathtaking - the photographer couldn't get enough pictures of everything. Even more important, the entire staff was tremendously kind, helpful, and friendly, from the manager Patrick ("Puzzle") to everyone who prepared our meals, ran the programs, and generally kept the camp running. Our guests couldn't say enough good things about the entire weekend. We live two hours away in Los Angeles so we weren't able to make frequent trips to Nawakwa before the wedding to see to things in person, but Patrick was extremely accommodating and communicative over phone and email so we were able to have everything in place even though we were planning at a distance. I absolutely recommend Nawakwa to anyone looking for a beautiful, rustic wedding venue that's also very family-friendly. (I'll add photos once they come back from the photographer.)

Had we actually paid $38 retail price for this, I would have been extremely disappointed. Their website had technical issues when trying to redeem our purchase. When we finally got through, the "app" was really just a link to an online survey site that asked you questions and you filled in the answers. It was really this low-tech website that made us feel as if it was a cheap experience. As for the questions themselves, some of them were interesting at best and some of them were very easy. This might make it nice for a family with young children, but for a group of adults, we didn't find it challenging enough. I did, however, enjoy some of the corny jokes and random facts. There was also some obvious advertising in it, which, again, made it feel like a cheap experience. Overall, I'd say if you're willing to pay the money, it makes for an interesting stroll through Big Bear. Otherwise, it's not a "must do" experience. As I mentioned before, this was not our first scavenger hunt experience, and if I were to rank all the scavenger hunts we have done, this would probably rank the lowest.
