I love Turner's Seafood. The food is delicious and there are a lot of options on the menu. The…read moreservice is always excellent. I used to go to Turner's Seafood in Melrose but, now that they have a place in Salem, I go there. I have never been disappointed. The ambiance is nice, particularly in Salem.

I made reservations for my birthday dinner in July all the way back in December, so it was…read moredisappointing to arrive and be told that my reservation had somehow been canceled. After waiting about 20 minutes, we were finally seated. Despite that rocky start, the food was so outstanding that we ended up coming back every single day during our stay in Salem. The biggest inconsistency was the service. Out of the four days we visited, only one day stood out as having exceptional service. Most of the time we had to flag someone down for drink refills, order more oysters, ask for Parmesan cheese, or even leave our credit card hanging off the edge of the table before someone would notice we were ready to pay. Now, onto the food because that's what kept bringing us back. The clam chowder and lobster bisque were the true stars of the menu. These are the kinds of soups you'll still be thinking about long after your vacation is over. The lobster bisque was unbelievably rich, creamy, and packed with generous pieces of lobster. The clam chowder had the perfect consistency and, unlike so many others, was loaded with tender clams instead of mostly potatoes. The one-and-a-half-pound lobster was sweet, tender, and practically melted in my mouth. I wasn't in love with my pasta dish. The scallops, however, completely stole the show. They tasted as though they had been pulled from the ocean just moments before being cooked perfectly fresh, sweet, and delicate. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was undercooked and lacked flavor, even after the Parmesan cheese finally arrived. The strawberry shortcake was the perfect dessert on a hot Fourth of July afternoon. It was light, fresh, and exactly what we wanted to finish the meal. And the oysters? Absolutely phenomenal. Every single day. They were consistently fresh, delicious, and one of the main reasons we kept coming back. While the service has plenty of room for improvement, the kitchen is doing something truly special. The quality of the seafood alone was enough to make us return day after day, and that's about the highest compliment I can give a restaurant.

The Landing Restaurant - Monkfish special - great flakey fish, the sauce was a bit more tart than expected but still a great combination.

The mussels were unbelievable, the calamari was out of this world, and the grilled oysters were absolutely spectacular. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the lobster ravioli was rich, fresh, and full of flavor. One of the best-kept secrets is that while the lobster roll and hamburgers aren't listed on the menu, they're happy to make them if you ask, and they're definitely worth ordering! If you're looking for incredible seafood, outstanding service, and a fantastic dining experience, The Landing is a must-visit. We can't wait to come back! Love from Scottsdale, Arizona!

New England, end of summer, and you're out and about on the rocky beaches of "noat shoa" (north…read moreshore)? Then youve got to lunch at the Landing. First, the view: you eat with your eyes they say, but you see the bay with your nose. That salty sea air makes you hungry for some chowder, or mussels, or just fish and chips. Or crab cakes. And a beer. All on the menu. All good. Sit on the deck and watch the lobster come in. Small white buckets filled by fishermen with accents. Hemingway ate here and it totally changed his style, as if. Sometimes the ambiance adds to the food and no better example than here: fish and chips, but under the sea gulls on the deck by the boats? That's a memory. Come early and/or make a reservation. Eat fast because there's a line waiting for your spot.

I was heading to Salem in October, and didn't want to risk trying to find food without a…read morereservation, but as expected many places don't take reservations in October because the influx of people, but Antique Table did! When we arrived the place was nearly empty, which come to find out places aren't as busy on a Monday. There was one other table finishing up in the main dinning area, and one other group arrived at the same time we did. We were greeted and sat quickly, but that's where the speed of things kinda came to a slow down. I'll start with some of the positives - our waitress was really nice and she had a helper who also was nothing but polite and friendly. The decor is really cool! There was no one in the entire back room of the restaurant, so I went and took a peak back there on the way to the bathroom and it had old cameras, typewriters, cool pieces of art, the main room also have some great scales of justice, and other fun features. They also had all the Halloween decor, if anyone needed to use the restroom we were told to go towards the large mirror, and I would always add on to my friends "with the creepy doll on it". After about 2 to 3 minutes my entire party had and water was brought to the table and served in plastic cups. Which at a place with white table clothes felt a little strange. At some point after our waitress returned to take drink orders and an appetizer of the calamari. She then asked "have I offered you all any bread yet" we said no, but we would love bread. She said "okay it will be $3" and walked away. We all kinda looked at each other confused, because the phrasing seemed like it was complementary bread but we were really hungry at this point and the bread ended up being really good - but it was a small portion for $3. I think 6 thinner slices in total. We waited a while before she returned for our food order. The menu has what you expect from an Italian places but also has a large section of Mexican dishes, which feels mismatched, it wasn't fusion style it was just Italian and Mexican separately, it just feels really disjointed. I went with the bolognese and one of my friends decided to order the tacos because it felt so silly to do in an Italian spot (and who doesn't like tacos generally). The calamari came out at some point after the bread, but we finished the bread, the calamari, and all our waters at a causal pace after that. We were sitting for a while before anyone came back to the room where we were seated. At this point there were maybe 3 or 4 tables sat in our room and possible one other couple up towards the front area. As many of us were out of water, I headed up towards the bar area or host stand to see if I could find someone. I ran into the guy who was assisting with our table and asked if we could get some more water - which happened promptly. About 5 to 10 minutes after that our waitress returned with even more water and told us food would be out soon. The food arrived maybe 10 minutes after that, so it had been a while since we ordered. The bolognese was fine, the pasta wasn't overcooked, the sauce lacked some depth and the meat was a little firmer than anticipated but overall it was still okay. They did offer some Parmesan cheese to be added to any of the pastas or tacos. The total for 5 people, with no alcohol, one soda, one order of calamari, the $3 bread, and the already added gratuity (which they did mention was already added in at 20% and it was also stated on the bill) ended up being $208. Overall, the food was fine, nothing to make a special trip for. Service was friendly, but very slow. The vibes were a little mismatched - Mexican food with Italian food and plastic cups with white table clothes. Overall, it's a fine experience if you are needing a reservation.

Stepping inside feels like visiting your grandparents' home, complete with nostalgic wall pictures For appetizers, we indulged in the Calamari Fritti ($17.95): Crispy fried calamari with hot cherry peppers in a spicy house marinara sauce. A bowl of clam chowder was based on a flavorful (without being fishy) creamy broth. Much better than the kind that can be like a bowl of wallpaper paste. The clam was minced so finely that it was hard to discern that there was any in the bowl. Very filling and tasty just the same. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We asked how much the market price for a lobster roll would be: $40. Music was in the style of hipster cocktail hour, so very enjoyable. Art work was kitschy lobster and bar- based. They have a "rule" that you should walk outside the building to get to the restrooms, and the dude is policing this rule since he has nothing to do. Need an extra bowl to split the soup? No worries, the dude will lecture your elderly parents his unsolicited opinions on how the soup will spill everywhere, so you shouldn't do it. Funny enough, the same dude spilled the soup all over the place when he was bringing them to us. Aside from the rude dude, prices are insane. We are not even in peak season, so they are serving the locals but their prices have a 50% or so markup from industry average. ($40 for a small and $60 for a large lobster roll). They have an automatic 20% gratuity on parties of 3 or more, so they get rewarded on their bad service no matter what. I highly recommend avoiding this dump.
