To know John and his company exists simply put restores my faith in humanity. This guy literally saved me $700 -$800 bucks or whatever the heck a brand new refrigerator would cost and I am eternally grateful. Our refrigerator was making a very high-pitched squeaking noise which was the fan motor in the back. I was prepared to plunk down about $150 for a new fan motor and was OK with that. John came by took a look and said you know what, there's just some dust and debris which I can clean out for $50 and you should be good to go and that's exactly what he did. My wife & I were feel we were ripped off! For many, many years we dutifully paid the yearly premium for our refrigerator. When we needed a repair we were told the part was no longer available for our old refrigerator and only refunded ONE yearly premium. They took our money for years and never notified us that because of its age parts would not be available-had we known we certainly would have canceled our policy. read more

Each time he comes and quickly diagnoses issues, explain it to us and gives us options along with his recommendation. About a month ago (a week before Thanksgiving) my day started off terrible. My elderly cat had passed in the night and when I got home from the vet early that morning, I discovered a pool of water by my freezer door and called GE. GE said they could expedite the issue and send someone a week later after Thanksgiving for $116 just to look at it but the $116 would not be applied to parts or labor. I rushed out to borrow 2 coolers from a friend and the supermarket to buy bags of ice to save what I can. With Thanksgiving next week and everyone stocking up b/c of the pandemic I was expecting to lose hundreds of dollars of food. We called a friend of ours in our building who recommended John. She said several years ago he had come to look at her refrigerator which had stopped working and he fiddled with a few things and said to call him if that didn't work. Whatever he did worked. He only charged her $50 to look at it with the $50 to be applied to parts and labor if repairs needed to be made. Anyway, we called John and he said he was across the street and would come over later that day to look at it. He looked at it and said it was the control board and said he would get a new one in the next day or two and install it. He called early the next morning to say he had the part and ask if he could come up and replace it. After replacing it, it still didn't work and then said it was the "inverter"? and went down to his truck to see if he had one. He came back up and replaced it. It is now a month later and everything seems to be working fine. Bottom line, John is great. He came up the same day we called and replaced the defective part the next day, for what appears to be a reasonable price to replace a major part. He is the old school kind of repairmen we hear our parents talk about. He is a very nice guy, very professional, he came immediately, knew exactly what he's doing, and did a great job. These people are the best! My 20-year-old Whirlpool fridge wouldn't get cooler than 60 degrees in the summer, turning my cranberry juice to wine and causing milk cartons to explode. Improved Refrigeration arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem as a faulty hinge on the fridge door, a large piece of insulation wrapped around the coils, and something wrong with an apparatus in the rear. All was fixed in 10 minutes for a grand total of $35.! That's right -- $35 (no minimum service call charge). I had first called the Sears Blue Crew repair term, which thank the Lord, never showed up despite all its apparent "efficiency" with online chats, robocalls, email, etc. Stick with Improved Refrigeration, which never tries to sell you anything you don't need; they said I would probably need a new door gasket "in 1-1/2 or 2 years!" (Sears, by the way, had told me they'd charge $75 just for showing up.) read more
