Our son moved from Gaithersburg to Rockville. I knew two people who made the same move and recommended this company. They had an extensive online form for what you need to have moved. I filled out the form and got a call back from the company. We discussed the time it might take to pack, unload and put things back together. I was asked if certain things needed to be done(clothing packed, anything particularly valuable or delicate) and if I needed packing materials. I was told the cost of various materials and boxes for packing and given an estimate of the time it would take. The movers showed up on time and were very careful to put down runners in the apartment. They packed and moved everything quickly and carefully. I met them at the new apartment where they again put down runners to protect the carpets. Everything was unpacked and put together again if needed-sofa, bed, a desk center. It took about 30 minutes less than was estimated -and I was charged accordingly. They were careful with everything- and nothing was broken - I think the sofa was put together better than originally! This move had to be done in a short time frame- the new apartment came up quickly and my son did not want to lose it and the company and employees were able to make it happen. On a late Thursday afternoon, I got notice that my apartment was scheduled to be painted and new floors installed the following Wednesday and Thursday. I didn't need my furniture moved, but I did need everything in and on my furniture, everything on the walls, and everything in my closets and pantry packed no later than the following Tuesday, stored for 2-3 days, and then brought back and unpacked. On Friday, I called several moving companies. One gave me a very expensive estimate without even coming to the apartment. Another company no-showed for their first appointment, and when they did show up, they gave me a verbal estimate, but never followed up with a written estimate. Then there was Igal Pinto from In & Out Movers. I called him on Friday, he came out to the apartment on Saturday, and I had a written estimate that day. The estimate included the cost for all packing materials and storage fees. I scheduled the packing for Tuesday and the unpacking for Friday. A crew of 2 packers/movers showed up on Tuesday on time at 8:00AM. All I had to do was show them what to pack, and they got busy. I have a ton of knickknacks, and the crew did their best to handle everything with care. On Friday, a crew of 3 unpackers (two of whom did the packing (very smart, In & Out!) showed up on time at 8:00AM. Unfortunately, the floor installers did not move all of the furniture back in place as was promised, and almost everything was stuffed in the living room and bathroom. The In & Out crew had not scheduled enough time to move the furniture into place AND unpack, so the unpacking had to be rescheduled for the following Tuesday. (NOTE: I did not get charged for the time spent coming to do the original unpacking that had to be rescheduled.) On Tuesday, the original crew arrived on time at 8:00AM, moved all of the furniture into place (including reassembling a large wall unit), unpacked most of the items and hung many of the pictures. All my knickknacks weren't exactly where they belonged, and the CDs and LPs weren't alphabetized, but I can do that over time. At least all the unpacked boxes were hauled away along with all the used packing material. (NOTE: In & Out did not charge me extra for the additional days my boxes were in storage.) As with any business transaction, some things did not go perfectly. The estimated charges were way below the final cost. I really couldn't complain as the crew worked as quickly and efficiently as they could. If you decide to use In & Out Movers, if the estimate seems way too low, it probably is. Just an FYI. Another issue common to moves is broken and damaged items. There were a few (very few, considering how fragile some of my knickknacks are) broken items. A quick email to Igal at In & Out Movers with a list of broken/damaged items and their replacement costs and Igal Zelled the full amount to my bank within hours. I would definitely consider using In & Out Movers again. If you decide to use them for your moving and/or storage needs, I hope you'll feel the same. read more

I had an in-home estimate of a 9 hour move for $3500, the crew arrived on move day, walked around my house and informed me that it would be a two-day move. The size of my move was probably too much for this company, but I was not informed of this. 4 men with a 27 foot truck was not enough for my three floor house , piano and yard furniture. I had to quickly calculate where my family and pets would sleep that night and how I would manage a whole day shift in the craziness of selling my home. I called the owner to discuss the changes and he told me that the next day would take about 6 hours and my price would be no more than $4500. Well the next day took 11 hours and the crew brought me a bill of $7000+!!! The team was actually a great group of polite, hard working men. But it is as if the owner was on a different planet from reality, and since I don't know how to estimate house moves, I trusted his quotes which were off! He misjudged the amount of time, the price, the amount of space and men it would take to move my home!!! Suppose I didn't have an extra 2 thousand dollars to pay for the move? I was stuck with the company out of duress and do not recommend them for your large move! Only now do I see the long list of unsatisfied customers! I tried in and out movers and wouldn't recommend them. The good: they provide free boxes. These are about half the size of the boxes you would get elsewhere. Gregs customer service skills are amazing and he's absolutely a pleasure to talk to. The bad: You have to stay and be a foreman to the movers. They will leave boxes behind and when I called to ask why they did their response was "we didn't see them and you weren't there to make sure we took them". I had bankers boxes secured shut and bins with latches keeping them closed. The movers took another 45 minutes to tape every bin and bankers box closed. After wasting the tape I had provided, they started using their own and charging for the additional rolls of packing tape. After calling to complain why they left boxes back at the previous residence, all three movers got back in the van and Left to get the 7 boxes. Another hour of lost time. So, I wouldn't recommend this company after doing business with three other movers I know what to expect. read more

I hate doing these reviews. Usually, I will give a company two chances before I feel it is worth letting others know. In&Out cancelled on me the day of my move. I was told that because it rained the day prior, they had to push me back to Sunday. They completely ignored the fact that I live in a building where only two days are availabe for moving and Sunday was not one of those days. I was called at least 3-4 times to ask if I can do Sunday and I let them know, I cannot. I was not trying to be difficult, I literally could not do Sunday because no one in the building can use the loading dock on Sundays. I asked why not reschedule those appointments you missed due to the weather instead of moving around everyone else who could still be moved on their designated day. The worst part was I was told that I would get a call at 9am to let me know when the team was coming, I had to call back at 11am to find out they would not do my move. I think it was Igal I spoke with. I should not be the one who has to reach out to you for updates. Yes, you apologized but that does absolutely nothing for the situation, that could have been avoided, I was put in. This left me scrambling to look for a Uhaul, on a Saturday afternoon. The lack of professionalism was baffling. This would have been my first time using movers but I do not think I will try this, again. As much as moving sucks, at least if move on my own, I can control the outcome. The only pleasant part was scheduling the setup with Greg who was very pleasant. Before the owner says how they tried to help, save it. You messed up royally and you should be professional and honorable enough to take the criticism that is 100 percent warranted. read more

Background: We had to move states due to my infant daughter's health condition. We booked these movers because our prior movers cancelled last minute. I spoke to a sales rep "Greg". The quote I received was $1,500 more than a competing quote; but because Greg guaranteed an earlier delivery date (and the predicament we were in). We went with them despite the hefty premium fee because they could deliver fast. Delivery: This company called me 1 time to say the delivery was going to be late. I had to call or contact them almost everyday to get updates on where our items were. On the call they then suggested I call them the next day to get an update instead of them saying they will call me later. In the end, we were sleeping on an inflatable mattress for over a week after we could not extend our hotel stay. They delivered almost 2 weeks AFTER the guaranteed timeframe from Greg. They knocked off $500 and "waived" an extra fee they would normally have charged (on top of the "will not exceed" quote that was already $1,500 more expensive) to deliver items in a individual truck instead of grouped with multiple families orders. They had to schedule last minute helpers because the truck arrived a day earlier than when the manager said it would (so 13 days late???). One helper was carrying our FRAGILE boxes sideways and broke some glasses and sentimental mugs that were from Norway and are discontinued, so there is no replacement. When it came for payment the manager then tried to charge me an additional $500 over the quote and Bill of Lading (which I explicitly asked for previously to avoid this issue). He eventually backed off of that but his voice should disappointment like I didn't just go along with it. tl;dr: EXPENSIVE, LATE, do not wait for them to call with an update, unprofessional read more

Pros: Jose and his crew, on both days, are amazing. Careful packing, great loading, disassembled and re assembled our two kids cribs/toddler beds and our king size bed - they were kind, personable, professional, and extremely hard working. Everything was packed securely and they were on time and great to work with. Cannot speak more highly of the crew's care, hard work, and professionalism. Nothing damaged, missing, or issues - prompt and careful. Cons: After reviewing multiple quotes, we went with them despite some of the reviews. Greg quoted me full pack and move at a great price, but said they do one day packing and move, and would need 10-12 hours. Interesting, as every other company did two day moves due to packing & length of time/workday. Given assurances, we signed. They even sent Bibi, on their staff and packing specialist, out for a walk through. She surveyed the home, took notes, saw what we had to be packed and moved out - while "a lot of stuff", that we should still expect a 10-12 hour full pack and move. Called 2 times in advance to confirm and check that they would do a one day move & pack, and was assured they'd be there at 8:30-9am and looking like 10-12 hours. Truck arrives on time, crew walks in and says it would most likely be 10 hours packing and loading the truck, but no way they could move us and unload same day. So, wife and kids head to family out of town since we won't have anything to sleep on/in our new home, and we're now looking at 2 days of a move (ended up being 10 hours day 1, 7 hours day 2) & double the quote we got, which lands us in the same bracket as every other quote we got who planned for a two day move. So, no cost savings given their estimate (in fact almost double the cost), major uprooting of our kids weekend and our lives, and a lot of undue stress. While Greg and Igal were nice (the latter promising "we'd make it work" on the cost, given it then being 2 days instead of 1...and that never happened) why quote, have a walk through, and reinforce a 1 day move? read more

I found In & Out Movers via a friend's referral. In my haste to hire help, I neglected to consult Yelp. I was soooooooo nervous when I saw the piss-poor reviews, but didn't have the option to cancel. I just hoped and prayed for the best, because I didn't feel like cussing nobody out! (lol) My friend spoke very highly of them, so I was glad that the negative reviews I read didn't apply to me. They moved my crap in about 3 hours, including furniture break-down and set-up. Fast and friendly. The movers followed directions to the tee and also offered some pretty good suggestions for packing and moving. I don't have anything to compare it to price-wise, but I'm happy with the results. Would use them again and recommend to anyone making an in-state move. (I'm not sure if they handle out of state moves.) read more

TL;DR The movers themselves are great but the staff has a few kinks to work out. I'd use them again. The good: The movers are professionals and very efficient. They do a good job of moving items out without damaging the home going in or out. The company provided moving boxes to supplement our move. The boxes saved us hundreds of dollars. They called a day after the move to check in with us and then a month later. Greg the customer engagement associate really impressed me. When we spoke I discussed my surprise about the additional fuel cost. He said he would advocate on my behalf to have that refunded. This impressed be because he really cared about our experience and was customer obsessed about the out come of the move. The bad: The only hang up was on an unexpected fuel charge. It wasn't on the original quote but Greg our sales rep took care of this and offered to have it refunded. The glass on my desk broke while they were packing it up but again the company stepped in and offered to replace the glass/desk or the cost associated with replacing it ourselves. Conclusion: If I we're moving tomorrow, I would totally use them again. But, make sure to ask if there may be any other additional cost. Trusting someone else to move all of your belongings is a big deal. In and Out Movers crushed it in this category and you should give them a call to assist with your move. read more

Do Not Use In and Out Movers. Horrible horrible crooks. Came to our house, gave us an estimate of $6700, 6800lbs .70 a pound. We packed all our stuff. 2,600 sq ft home. 3 other moving companies provided quotes of $8k and $9k. I went with In and Out. Igal the salesman was so nice offered a military discount dropped the price to $6100. We spoke to him 2 months in advance. I sent 5 emails asking for confirmation because our travel plans changed. After Igal received our deposit all communication stopped until I repeatedly called. Igal refused to respond to my emails. Moving day comes, the truck is to small. They need a second truck. We had a storage unit with 30 boxes and a queen size bed that still had not made it on the truck. Igal calls once everything is on the truck and states he has to charge us another $4000. And thats just for the household truck he hasn't included the storage unit and he states he's going to charge more once the truck is weighted again with the storage unit goods. He tells me my household goods weights 12,000 pounds. Not including the storage unit. Igal is telling me this the day all our prize passions are on his truck, we are driving to FL, and he's explaining there's nothing I can do about it because I've signed a contract and I agreed to .70 per pound. He's also very busy and is on his way to the beach with family. The movers were excellent. Professional, politeMpolite, fast, and efficient. Truck Arrived the next day. read more

We used In & Out to move from Alexandria to Williamsburg. They were one of the only companies to allow us to have packing one day, and delivery the next. We wanted to pack most of our goods, but we wanted the movers to pack our china and other fragile items, so they priced accordingly. They also allowed us to come pick up boxes before the move, so we could pre-pack. They gave us a flat rate, which, at first glance was higher than other companies, but was honest - no extra charges snuck in. I didn't love that they add in a mandatory tip, but the movers were so good that I would have tipped them anyway. Our packers were great. They were friendly, efficient, and honest. They packed a three bedroom, three floor townhome in about five hours. The only thing that was damaged was a table, which they repaired on-site, easily. They had the right materials to protect our goods. I'm hoping not to have another move, but I would absolutely use this company again. read more

When you hear the phrase "In and Out" (maybe repeated a few times) what do you think of? Well, that's pretty much what they did. Their initial quote (estimate to be fair) was $700. That seemed a bit high for what was being moved, five large pieces, five small pieces, 20 cartons, and six wardrobes. They showed up with three guys and took about three hours to load their truck. During that time they chatted amongst themselves, walked slowly, and packed boxes in boxes using a ton of packing materials. (Who wouldn't given they charge for both the materials and the time for packing.) The result was a move that cost over $1,400. I haven't looked at other reviews yet (and wasn't the one choosing this company). I hope others will be sure to get something more solid than an estimate before they risk being "in and out'ed" by In and Out movers. read more

I will be the first to admit that Dean at in & Out Movers saved my ass. After the Smartbox fiasco, he was willing to help me with a long distance move on a Sunday on about 12 hours notice. So just for that he gains an extra star. Unfortunately the rest of the move continued to be pretty drama-filled. I asked Dean in advance how many movers would be coming to my house and he said he would send 2. When 4 showed up, I was really surprised, and unprepared in terms of cash to give them for tip. Oy. Also, because there were so many of them, they loaded up all of my things in under 2 hours, and it was all such a mad chaos that they ended up leaving a good bit behind. While this is partly my fault for not double checking, I would have expected that boxes stacked in the middle of a room would have been good to go. Dean had also quoted me a price that he said included everything and there would be no additional charge for packing and wrapping. Although I suppose there wasn't an additional labor charge, they did charge me for all of the materials. And a gas surcharge. And some other fee. So yeah, my move ended up costing me about $400 more than I was quoted. I had made an agreement with Dean that my furniture would be sent to Atlanta on a truck leaving in early January, just whenever they could coordinate with another Southern move. Imagine my surprise when Dean called me THE NEXT DAY, informing me that my stuff would arrive TOMORROW. Um, shit. I told him I would find a storage unit and he agreed he would call me when the movers were on their way, so I'd have a ballpark of when they would arrive in Atlanta. The next morning I tried to call Dean but only received a fax signal. At about 10:30 AM, I got a call from one of the movers informing me they were waiting for me at the storage unit. No call from Dean. So.... yeah. While each mover I interacted with from In & Out was incredibly friendly and a very hard worker, it appears that the management needs some serious work. read more

Absolutely incompetent. I scheduled them two weeks out for my local move and they called me the DAY OF THE MOVE to tell me they were too far away and couldn't do the job. The employee, Jacob, who took my reservation AND my deposit money didn't bother to mention that they were two hours away. I wasted vacation days on being home for these guys who couldn't be bothered to check their schedule. Now I have to scramble to find another mover that is actually capable of doing what I pay them for, AND I'm waiting on In and Out to return my deposit, which they kept tied up for two weeks when I could have used it to reserve a mover that isn't worthless. read more

Most estimate requests on moving company websites gather basic info for a move. This website was no different. I provided name, date, moving to and from zips, and contact info (phone/email). Someone then reached out for additional information. After all details were given, I was notified they're booked on that day. Why bother asking for info that wont be read? Either someone didn't care or there's little attention to detail. Either way that was a waste of time and as I already know I'll be moving again in the near future, I will not be considering this company. read more

I had no issues with these movers. They were recommended to me by another moving company that was too booked to do my move. Their price was really fair. I was moving from a studio in DuPont to a two story house on the Hill. I didn't have a lot if furniture, mainly bed, frame, couch, chair and lots of clothes/books and personal items. It was less than $500 for the move and they did an incredible job moving my bed and things to the second floor of my new home. I mean, I had a tight, narrow curved stairway and not a scratch!!! Compared to what the sleepy's movers did to my hall and stairs when I purchased a second bed for my guest room, I realized how great In & Out was. In and Out Movers had been recommended by our real estate agent because, unlike most other movers, they were willing to come out and physically survey our move-out property and then give us a firm quote on the whole job (not just an hourly rate). Igal came out to our condo and surveyed our furnishings and property. He didn't want to be responsible for moving our art and sculptures, which was fine with us as we intended to carefully move those things ourselves. He gave us a quote of $3,600 which we thought was high, but after a few minutes of negotiation, we settled on $2,400 and both parties signed a contract for that. We took care of boxing up all our clothes and smaller items. There were approximately 100 boxes plus 3 rooms of furniture. On moving day, a crew of 4 showed up on time and began loading their truck. But we noticed right away that they seemed to be more concerned about speed than about carefulness. First a box dropped from a 3-box stack and smashed the contents -- beer bottles - no great loss -- so we cautioned that they needed to be more careful. Then we watched as they put 3 boxes marked "fragile - glass" on a dolly and then rolled it, bouncing, down 4 steps at the front of our building. That generated another reminder that some of these boxes contained very fragile items (crystal, wine stems, etc.) and they needed to be more careful. And then it happened a third time. When once again, a bit more forcefully, we complained about the lack of care, the supervisor of the crew snapped back "Don't them me how to do my job!" This escalated into a verbal confrontation, shouts and, eventually, a call to 911. The supervisor ordered his men to take everything back off the truck (about 20% of our stuff) and leave it on the sidewalk. The police, who had showed up by then, talked him into at least moving our items into the building's hallway instead of leaving them on the sidewalk. (I should note that the impression I had was that the other men in the crew were as flummoxed as we were, but the supervisor was the issue; when we called Igal at the In and Out office to report the issue, he repeatedly asked to speak to the supervisor but the supervisor refused to even talk to him.) We spent the rest of the day making other arrangements for our move. Fortunately, our contract called for payment on completion so we were not out any money, just a half day of moving time. Giving them 3 stars because they showed up an hour earlier than expected and charged me through the nose for wrapping my couch, bed, TV, and a couple other items. They also ask for a tip up front. To their credit, the guys who did show up worked the entire time they were there, they did the job in the time they told me it would take, and were reasonably cafeful while moving belongings in and out of the residences. The truck they used was decently clean inside and in good shape. I would use this company again. Their price was also consistent compared to other offers I received. I was told the team of movers would show up between 10 and 10:30, they showed up at 9. The team lead then went through the contract stuff. They have a price chart for wrapping each piece of furniture. While they don't charge you for blankets, they will charge you to put a couple wraps of plastic wrap around your mattress ($18), box spring ($18), couch, TV($15) , etc. All they are doing is using plastic wrap. Once you get past that part, they do good work. From what I understand, this isn't too uncommon for movers (which doesn't make the practice correct, just part of a shady industry). read more

The only reason I am giving a 3 instead of a 4 is solely because of the following. I hired In & Out movers on the finishing end of our move. They quickly got us in when I called the day before and it was on a weekend. This was very much appreciated. The guys showed up and on time. Everyone was nice and professional. They were mostly efficient in getting our truck unloaded and items where we asked them to be placed. The issue happened when one of the gentleman asked to use the restroom. I told him to go ahead. It seems mean to make someone hold it. It was also 90 degrees with an index over 100. I'd nicely offered them all water. It was way to hot. The gentlemen who asked to use the restroom was in there for nearly 30-45 minutes. When he walked out, his pants were undone, shirt off and water every where. The toilet overflowed. He didn't tell us in time as I'm assuming he was trying to clean it up. In the time it took my husband to get the water shut off, I called Maitenance and they promptly showed up. Everything that was just moved into the master bedroom had to be moved back out. Same with master closet, hall closet and part of the living room. The gentleman who flooded the restroom I could tell felt really bad. The guys finished soon after and left. Maitenance then started ripping up carpet. There was water in the carpet in the master bedroom, master closet, half way into the living room, a hallway closet, and into the garage. It took three days of fans running to dry it all out including the walls the leak had gone under. This complicated everything since we had a 5 month old son. We all squished into one room. Everything had to be moved all over again. It was a complete mess. I emailed the company what happened plus pictures, speaking with the owner later via phone. I didn't ask for a full refund but I did ask for a couple hundred back which we came to an agreement on and he did refund. Overall, I do think this is a great business and I think they are a fair business. I think they guys are efficient, professional and fast. I think we just ended up on the wrong side of a bad event. I think it was settled respectfully and fairly. Overall, I would use them again and hopefully be able to provide a better review. I just won't be letting anyone use my restroom unfortunately. read more

They were late after the scheduler emphasized their arrival time to ensure they would not be left to wait for me. I moved from one 2 bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom condo. I packed my own bathrooms and it still took them 9 hours at 250/hr??? I have two bedrooms sets and living room furniture, no dining furniture. They never finished my kitchen because they ran out of boxes?? I spent two of my own evenings to finish after paying this company $2500!!! As I unpacked, I found expensive work clothes stuffed into boxes rather than carefully hung in wardrobe boxes. Dozens of items will have to be sent out for pressing! Also, to note, they charge $250/hr to drive to and from the job. I called to express my frustration and was interrupted over and over while trying to explain my concerns with the move and the charges. There are so many choices. Do yourself a favor and find another. read more

I used these movers at the end of April to move out of a 4 level townhome into a 2 level townhouse style condo (top 2 levels of the condo). Needless to say that is a lot of steps. It was also raining heavily the day I moved and I had 2 very large TVs to move as well. The movers did not damage not one thing or put any scratches on the walls. This was one of the most positive moving experiences I have ever had. Not They disassemble and reassembled beds, they carefully wrapped the two big TVs and mattresses so they would not get water damage, and they were very polite and helpful. The only reason my move took longer than expected was because it was raining, but they were so careful that it didn't matter. I was very pleased with this moving company and they were very reasonably priced. Thanks so much for making a stressful event not so stressful. read more

First, I purchase an Angies List coupon for $299 and then paid $99 extra for the time and mileage incurred while traveling. The $299 covered a 16' truck, 3 men, for 3 hours. The movers were supposed to arrive between 1-2PM but they were unable to make it on time. They did call and text me to say they were running late, which was nice. They ended up showing up at 3:20PM and then did not know where to park. We live on a very narrow street so they had difficulty figuring that out but once they did (they parked one street over) everything went smoothly. They were very polite and moved things quickly and efficiently out of the house. When they were done moving things out, they followed us to a storage facility and unloaded everything there. Although we really don't know if there were any damages to our furniture like a lot of the other reviewers said (since everything is now crammed into a storage room) I think that they were pretty careful with moving things from watching them. Overall, we would definitely use these movers again. The only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 is that they arrived later than planned. read more

Called the company  They provided the cost of the job, I specifically told the Manager what needed to be done. He told me this should be easily done in the time period. They took an initial deposit of $185.00 .They came out and started by 9:30am  and Finished at 12:45pm. They ended up charging me and additional  $185.00.  To me it sound like a bait and switch. They get you end then they increase the bill. In addition my china cabinet end was damage. No mention of reimbursement from the company.  I cannot  recommend this company to performed  moving services for anybody. read more

I had In & Out Movers come to my 2,500 sq/ft townhouse and do a visual quote. Based on their quote of $2,200 I signed a contract with them and scheduled my move. Most of the house was already packed and moved to the garage since I had done a full renovation. They were supposed to load the truck, go to my rented storage room and load that, then go to the new house and unload. They arrived on time at 8:30 a.m. and began work. There were 4 movers and they seemed to do a very good job. However after all my stuff was on their truck they informed me they would not be able to go to the storage room and also would not finish unloading the truck today. I had no choice but allow them to come back the next day to finish unloading. They charged me over $4,000 and never made it to the storage shed because there was no way I was paying them even more. I already paid twice the quoted amount and they drove away on day 1 with half my stuff still on their truck - basically holding me hostage. Definitely not what I signed up for and I probably would have gone with the other company who quoted $4,000 up front and would have sent 2 trucks and more people. read more
