Took a family member here after some fasting lab work. Arrived shortly before 11am and the place was already jam-packed. The line for the 2 Lane drive through snaked out of the parking lot. Finding a parking spot was challenging. We went inside to order and eat. As usual, the line moved fast, the order came out correct despite what looked like organized chaos. The food was tasty. We found a two person table (one of the only ones not occupied). The In-N-Out employees were trying their best, but you could see that the pace of work here was crazy fast. Though the employees looked tired, you did not see the "burned out," "I could care less about this job," glazed over eyes that you see at many fast food places. It looked like there were assigned staff to patrol the eating area to make sure everything was clean and well-stocked. So, why not 5 stars? I went to In-N-Out tonight. I have lived in Gilroy my whole life and have been going to this specific one for MANY years. This store has had an issue that hasn't been fixed in months. There is a sign in the drive through that states, "stay right" however, most people stay to the left. I typically push it off as whatever but tonight it took it to a different level. I was about to enter the split when this women entered the left side and cut. This woman next to her rolled her window down and told the cutter that there 1 lane and it was to the right. The cutter then started screaming and eventually got out of the car to confront the other woman. The "manager" then came out to "fix" the situation but in the end sided with the cutter and basically shoved off the woman doing the right thing. The "grilled cheese" is a little cheaper than the meat burgers. At the time, a worker came out to the cars to take orders which helped speed things up since they were able to take orders while other workers prepared the food, so that orders would be ready in a timely manner. recently visited In-N-Out, and while I've always loved their burgers, my experience this time was unfortunately tainted by something pretty upsetting. As I was enjoying my meal, I found a short male hair in my burger. It completely ruined the moment. I couldn't help but feel disgusted and really disappointed. Food hygiene is something I take seriously, and it was hard to overlook. That said, the burger itself was still tasty - juicy, fresh, and satisfying, like I've come to expect from In-N-Out. But the presence of a foreign hair definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. It's a shame, because I really enjoy the food here, but this experience was a major letdown. I don't know why it is so hard for this location to control their drive thru line. When you enter the line, it says for drive thru to stay to the right. The cars line up and then all of a sudden some impatient cutter decides they are going to cut and form a line in the thru traffic only side to merge in at the last minute. The line forms behind the non line and then all of a sudden you are 10 cars behind where you should have been. I have brought this up multiple times to management and I have contacted the corporate office as well. Nothing ever changes. It's not hard to tell the cutters to stop cutting. Guy cut in front of myself and 4 other cars in line. When I called him out on it insisted we were just waiting in the single line before it split into 2 because we wanted to. Denied cutting and proceeded to name calling. I did call while in line to ask them to send out a manager. No one came out. I told the girl taking orders. She took my order and instructed me to pull in front of him when line merged back into one. Of course that did not work and would still not have been fair to the others behind me. Fix your drive thru window where the employees don't give all of the food or lack giving friendly customer service. You'll ask for peppers or something else and they get quiet and blank stare. This has happened 3 times now. Also I HATE what they have done with the new drive through lanes. They created 1 lane, that turns into 2 lanes, then back to 1 lane!! How dose this make any sense. It also makes it where if Iv been sitting in a lane for a few minutes and I just so happen to be in a lane with more cars, a new car can come right up in the second lane and get served before me even tho Iv been sitting here already. This location has plummeted downhill. I hesitated to write this review, because, as a busy chain, you would expect some hiccups here and there. Not so with the Gilroy In-N-Out. The past four times I have visited, service has been absolutely appalling. The drive through wait times, while expected to be slow, have been a painful creep. At any decent location, this is ameliorated by quick-as-possible turnover, excellent service, and attention to detail. This location, however, is not only slow, but the staff is incredibly rude as well. The first of four bad experiences here, we waited almost ten minutes for our order to be simply taken. Assuming it was a similar situation to other fast food restraunts wherein you pull forward to the window to have your order taken late at night, I did so, only to be met with condescending sarcasm from the host admonishing me for not being "patient." The exact quote was, (complete with snarky hand signs) "next time... I recommend... Patience." Note that I was not even acknowledged the entire time I was parked in front of the speaker. My final visit, meant literally as I will no longer be going to this location for a late night, post work, junk food fix again, was truly the final straw. Not only was my order incorrect, not only were our fries overly salty, not only was the wait time ridiculous, (almost thirty minutes) but two employees actively had an argument with each other as we collected our order. No sooner had I grabbed the last of two bags had an employee rushed to another exclaiming, "WHY DID YOU SAY I'M NOT HELPING YOU!!!" A lack of professionalism seems to be a hallmark of this place. Lastly, and this is not the fault of the employees or the restraunt, but the customers who go to this location are the worst of the worst. We had to endure a man-child driving his Mommy's Corvette incessantly revving his engine, the person in front of us deciding the wait was too long and nearly rear ending himself trying to abandon the queue, (in spite of the cone barriers being in place) and multiple cars fighting each other for the microphone in the merge line. Enduring the line is not worth it. The lowest common denominator that go to this location actively make it dangerous, and the rude, untrained employees waste everyone's time with their ineptitude. Corporate either needs to come in and retrain, or clean house. It's a shame: this used to be a fast and efficient spot for people in a rush.
