There are a ton of (hot) chicken places to choose from. I do have a tender spot in my heart for chicken sandwiches, tenders, nuggets , and so on. I made my way over today to try this new place out. The menu is above the register, and they offer a variety of spice levels to add to your choice of chicken. For lunch , I opted for the "middle of the road " chicken tenders and waffles. The tenders are a good size, and they look spicy as hell. I am fan of spice, so for me the heat was just right . However, if you are at all sensitive to spice...this "middle of the road" spice option might be too hot for you. The coleslaw was bland and nothing really exciting. The waffles were a little more dense than I prefer, but they were OK. For my visit, the middle of the road tender meal that I had -was appropriately named. This place is just OK. In a world full of chicken options, this restaurant doesn't make the cut in my opinion. It's not bad, just nothing that I would hurry back for. read more

Had to come check out the tender spot in Morgan Hill. I think this is the only hot Louisiana style fried chicken in Morgan Hill came in on a weekday and the place was pretty slow so there was no line to wait in. Walked up to the counter placed our order and picked a spot at the corner booth. The ambience casual and laid-back with a couple of TVs playing movies for your viewing pleasure. The place is decorated with sports memorabilia and cartoons. Chicken was really flavorful and well prepared. Both the chicken tenders and sliders were very good. Their fries were cooked to perfection and were golden brown and crunchy. My grandson really enjoyed the chicken here and I can see us returning again in the near future for some more delicious chicken. Stopped in for lunch at The Tender Spot while I needed a place to work on my laptop. The food came out quickly and the quality was excellent. They didn't skimp on sauces or portions, which I always appreciate. One of my biggest critiques with chicken sandwiches is when the fillet is paper-thin--but that wasn't the case here. The Tender Spot uses chicken tenders, and they were well-sized, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The sweet potato fries were also excellent; a lot of places dry them out, but these were cooked perfectly. Great quick service, solid portions, and a comfortable atmosphere. I'm a big fan of Nashville style hot chicken sandwiches but not on the very spicy level just with the right amount of kick. I was happy to hear our town finally opened a Nashville chicken sandwich restaurant recently. I arrived for a Thursday dinner at the Tender spot. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza in Morgan Hill off Monterey road. Mimosas restaurant use to be at this space for the past couple of years. Parking is accessible in the medium size parking lot. The restaurant has some colorful posters of random characters on their wall. There is a bar to the right and the counter where you order at is in the center. I wanted to try a little bit of everything so I ordered the combo #5 which included one chicken slider, one chicken tender, a side of fries, Mac and cheese, and a side of their special sauce. Everything was delicious and fulfilling. The special sauce was tasty and went well with everything. The chicken slider and chicken tender was crisp and had the right amount of kick. I LOVE Nashville hot chicken. So when I saw the Mimosa's sign on the building change to The Tender Spot, I got excited. I was wondering what I was going to do for lunch today and I remembered seeing this place. I drove over around noon and there were only a couple of people in the restaurant. It still pretty much looks the same as when it was Mimosa's. They even still have the bar, so you can get simple cocktails. The menu is a bit limited. All they have are tenders. You can get them by themselves, in a sandwich or in a bowl with mac-n-cheese, fries or rice. I decided to get a bowl with fries. I was surprised to discover that there is no upcharge for sweet potato fries, so that's what I got. They have 5 or 6 levels of heat and I went for the Inferno, which is 1 below the hottest one, (megadeath or something like that). I ordered the food to go and when I got home and opened the package, it made me cough. I thought, "oh yeah, this is gonna be good and painful". Unfortunately that turned out not to be the case. We have been wanting to try out this local hot chicken spot in town and finally got around to it. I was pleasantly surprised on how great my super michelada was. May have been one of the better ones I've had in a while and for it to be at a chicken spot, that floored me. Back to the chicken....one of the kids wanted wings and one wanted tenders, so naturally, we ordered both, with a side of fries. Mama ended up sharing with the kids. We ordered them mild, because, kids. Also, we asked for the sauces to come on the side. The mild tenders had a nice kick to them. Luckily my kids can eat a bit of spice otherwise I don't know that they would have eaten the tenders at all. The chicken wings were crispy and delicious. The buffalo sauce on the side was tangy and delicious which mama enjoyed. And did I mention that mama also got to enjoy alllll the pickles? I'm the only one in my family that likes pickles, so I scored on a mini mountain of pickles lol Hubs ordered a combo with a slider and a tender on toast. Honestly, this place is just okay, if you're craving a chicken sandwich then it gets the job done. Upon walking in, they have some cute murals/paintings on the wall and we were greeted instantly by the cashier. The people there were very nice and once we ordered our food, we poured our drink and waited about 10-15 minutes before getting our food. First impressions, the food looks good but they were also smaller than we had expected. Upon eating the sandwich, the flavor was good but the chicken wasn't as juicy as we would have liked. I am so disappointed! I've been wanting to try this place and it was so bad. I ended up throwing the food away. We got a bowl that came with Mac n cheese, rice, coleslaw, and a few 'chicken tender' nuggets. Chose one of the moderate spice levels. At first glance, the presentation is great -- looks yummy. So wrong. It was overly spicy even though we chose maybe the 2nd or 3rd level of spice. The spice is the type of dusted spice where it makes you cough and gives you instant heartburn. Also, where is the flavor? If you have to mask the flavor with spice so hot that you can't taste the food, it's likely not flavorful. The sauce that comes in a separate container is good on its own, but obviously it's too be drizzled on the bowl. With Mac n cheese, coleslaw, and the sauce, it was a sloppy unflavored mess. The Mac n cheese has zero flavor. The 'seasoned' rice just tastes salty. Long grain rice (I think it's basmati rice?) is an interesting choice. Coleslaw is coleslaw, nothing memorable. Very few chicken pieces all for a whopping $15.99 + tax. 0 stars if I could. But I suppose 1 star because the presentation of the food was nice. Service was whatever. Cashiers are just young quiet oblivious teens who I don't fault for not providing customer service, but the menu wasn't even displayed until we asked for a menu. HAIR IN FOOD! It's NOT The tender spot, it's THE TERRIBLE SPOT. NEVER GO HERE! Worst customer service experience I have received in Morgan hill. It's Veterans Day so me and my kids decided to try this out for the first time. We walk in and not one single person is there. We order our food and go sit down, the table was sticky (again no one was there). I mentioned several times out loud that it was cold since the doors were open, but they left the doors open. Keep in mind this place is right next to a smoke shop, the whole time all me and my kids could smell is someone smoking weed outside. We waited about 6-8 mins until our food came out, the girl called out our name and dropped our food off at the counter. She could have taken 6 more steps to get to our table to hand-deliver it. Poor customer service at its finest. (Again no one was in there) As we were eating, I found a HAIR in my #2 combo. I tried to get the girls attention but all she did was stare at me. A bald guy came over and asked me what was the problem. He tried to fix it by getting me another one, but I was just disgusted at that point. I tried to pick at my kids food, but I was just to grossed out. My kids barely touched their food at that. The bald guy refunded me for my meal. It's not about the money. It's about the customer service they provided and how they could have made the experience a bit better. I'm gonna be so honest this food was really good. I've been bummed out since the KFC has been removed from Morgan Hill because it was my family's primary go to chicken spot. But now there aren't that many chicken places in this town unless it's from one of the fast food chains. But UNTIL the tender spot opened up I've found a new place! I got the Nashville Knock Out and I felt like was going to fully knock afterwards from how full I was. It had rice, mac & cheese, coleslaw, pickles and obviously chicken. If you want a good sting, go with Middle of the Road. Anything over that and you are on your own. The bowls have mac and cheese, and/or slaw. Everything is really quite good. Tried Morgan Hill's new guilty pleasure it was very tasty and I'm hard to please. I ordered combo #1 (two chicken sliders) the portions were the perfect size and pricing was fair. The sliders are basically a normal sized sammy, nothing small about it in my opinion. I've had sliders before that were 1/3 of the size these are. The chicken tenders were pretty big and juicy: not dry at all. I got the country (no spice) and the mild. Even the country has a little heat to the batter. Warning you in case you have kiddos or can't do any spice. Even the Mac n cheese had a slight kick to it. Must be in the seasoning...they just like it hot here They make their ranch in house and dare I say it holds a candle to the other chicken place's ranch that we all know and love, delicious. We tried both the regular and sweet potato fries and both were good. The menu shows a picture of regular fries but theirs are actually crinkle cut which is a nice change of pace. The sweet potato fries were made very well. Thick, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. They're almost a steak fry like consistency. We'll be back for sure! My one critique would be that I didn't see a salad on the menu which would be nice for a cool side to pair with the spicy chicken or to make a chicken salad with. Delicious chicken sliders! I would personally say this is one of the best hot chicken sandwiches I've ever had. ! The manager and staff there are also awesome and go out of their way. One slightly downside is that they seem to be understaffed at certain peak times of the day and the wait can be very long. Keeping that in mind it's worth the wait. We had a great experience! I ordered the 3-piece Hot tenders with fries and coleslaw. As a spicy food lover, the heat level was perfect--just enough kick without overpowering the flavor of the juicy, tender chicken. The tenders were big, juicy, and not at all dry--exactly how they should be. My daughter got the Country tenders with fries and mac & cheese. I had to sneak a bite, and they were full of flavor--mild and savory, especially when paired with the secret sauce. My son went with the Kickin' Mild tenders, fries, and mac & cheese too. The spice was mild enough for those who don't want it too hot, but still flavorful and satisfying. Very bland. Chicken quality wasn't great. Very chewy, and had some fatty/cartilage pieces. Toast to chicken ratio is comical. Toast is huge, chicken is tiny. Seasoning on the chicken is very inconsistent. Had 2 bites of each piece that were spicy. The rest was bland. The prices for the combo is identical to our usual spot. HOWEVER, you get half the amount of chicken here, and half the amount of fries. Soooo, it's twice as expensive. I know they just opened, so hopefully things improve. We like supporting local spots. Food was good worth the cost. Not on my list to return soon. Willie's chicken in Kona Hawaii is what this business should copy. Not sure on the counter help or the vibe /theme of business. Owner skipped on remodel to save a few dollars but reusing previous business left overs. The pony walls were damaged and looked like they have not been cleaned in many years, black wall paint makes for a gloomy vibe even with characters painted on walls, the lay-out is not customer friendly. Vibe does welcome the customer in business. Think this is know your " audience " correction. Maybe put this business with its current vibe near San Jose state would be a perfect fit. read more

The food here is Really Good Great actually they have Bomb chicken sandwich's and the fries are amazing. My new favorite spot to hit after work. The drinks are Good because there's a Bar and they just got Tv to watch the games. It's a soft opening now but am looking forward to the grand opening I'm looking to tell everyone about this place and would even hang out business cards of the place. Decided to try this spot for lunch today. I was surprised by how spacious it was with large booths for groups. The hand painted designs on the walls were fun. The menu was simple but with great quick comfort food options. Two kinds of mac n cheese! Customer service was excellent. Quick service and friendly staff that helped me customize my combo bowl and checked up on us multiple times. WARNING: I usually love spicy food. I chose "Hot Stuff" which is level 4 of 6, thinking it'd be a step above a good spicy buffalo wing. IT'S HOT! I was sweatin' after a couple bites. It's a heat that lingers tough for a good 5 minutes, no matter what else you eat or drink. My sister got the "Middle of the Road" and I found I liked that spice level and flavor a lot more. The fried chicken is great, overall the food is great. The only thing I'd recommend is get the mild spice to start and work up from there. They don't post the scoville scale and/or pepper used at each level and their Inferno and Devil is hotter than normal for a place like this. The workers didn't have a clue what either of these were when I asked, and having eaten a Carolina Reaper I can say that's likely the pepper used. CR used to be the hottest in the world until Pepper X, so if they are using that they should tell people. 99% of people won't be able to handle it and will end up just throwing it away and never going back. Which is sad because the chicken and bread, slaw, etc are a fantastic. Just a recommendation if they want people to come back. Post the pepper or scoville scale. read more
