This is my favorite In-N-Out location. Yes, it has the usual simple menu (burgers, fries, shakes, and drinks), and yes, it looks pretty much like every other In-N-Out I've been to, but what I like about it most is the location. It isn't right on the street or in the middle of a super congested shopping center parking lot. This means you don't have to listen to a million engines or swallow big gulps of exhaust if you want to sit outside. It's off the freeway and kind of close to nature. The last time I was there I sat outside and watched a hawk in a nearby tree while I ate my protein style burger (you won't see it on the menu... it's on the "secret" menu... check out their site). The only reason why it is four instead of five stars is because it got packed Saturday night after a festival at the fairgrounds, and this place wasn't as staffed as a typical in-n-out seems like they usually are. And it got super busy. However staff was amazing and super polite :). Apres ski party much...? Yeah minus the booze... bummer. This place is packed with the hungry and mostly coming straight off their favorite mountains as they are still in their snow garb. I got my usual, the #3 (no cheese for me so I can taste the meat) and a Dr. Pepper/Root Beer combo. Delicious. I asked for Extra Special Sauce and got it, although I wished I got some for my fries. The entrance to this place is a bit tricky. If it's your first time you will most likely drive through a random parking lot to get here but there is an alternative entrance which is much quicker. Solid service and I'm not going to lie... darn good burgers and fries. Realistically, this In-N-Out Burger is a solid 3 stars, or "A-OK" as Yelp! puts it. They serve American fast food in its most simple and raw form: burgers, french fries, milkshakes, and that's about it. The food is meant to be hot, fast, tasty, greasy, and cheap. If your sodium, fat, and carbohydrate levels aren't soaring through the roof you're doing it wrong. I stop by this In-N-Out occasionally on the way to and from Lake Tahoe when I don't have time to go to the nearby "Hog Wild bar-b-que", which is also in Placerville. +1 Star: It's In-N-Out! Sure, you could go to the Jim Otto shrine for Whoppers in Auburn, but that was about it, fast-food wise. Jim Otto sold off his Burger Kings five years ago (!?!), and now there's an In-n-Out just off US-50. If you've ever been in more than one, you'll realize that this has a pretty standard floorplan, though the outside seating area is clean and a little larger than some. I think this is the least busy In N Out I have ever seen! Which is a great thing! In n Out is my favorite "fast food" restaurant hands down! This location is a perfect place to stop on the way back from Apple Hill! Food- 5/5. Simple and delicious! I think the menu literally has 10 things, not including the Secret Menu (look it up online). My favorite is the Grilled Cheese which is two slices of American cheese, pickles, tomato, spread and lettuce sandwiched in between two buns. Mmm! Heavenly. Their fries are also fresh and amazing but sometimes can be a tad soggy so ask for them to be extra crispy! The shakes are made from real ice cream and are super thick with great flavor, but also include a days worth of saturated fat... Yikes! But it's ok to splurge occasionally. :) The Hubby likes their Cheeseburger and it fills him up just fine, but they do have a Double Double if you need more. Everything is simple and fresh and that's what makes it great. They have no freezers and make everything in house! Atmosphere- 4/5. Always super clean and comfortable with booths and swivel chairs, simple! When I came the drive-thru wasn't busy, but the inside was pretty crowded. Service- 5/5. I always receive EXCELLENT service when I come here or at any In n Out I've ever been to (which is a lot). I heard they are very strict with their employees but also start them at $12.50+ an hour which probably contributes to the A+ service! All employees are always smiling and go the extra mile to help! Vegetarian Friendliness- 4/5. Well offering some vegetarian options on a menu with only 15 items on it is pretty great. AND the Grilled Cheese and Fries are bomb and I never get sick of having it so no complaints here! Overall- 5/5. I will never get sick of going to In n Out and I hope they stay around forever (and expand!) and don't ever change a thing! Perfect as is. I have been to many In & Out Burger places and this one is the best....they toast the bun just perfectly and it has that little crunch against the lettuce and tomatoes, which is heavenly. The In & Outs in the Bay Area don't seem to toast the buns at all or not enough. I always get the grilled cheese (no meat) and it is perfect here.... It's your typical In-n-Out burger. I'm giving it 4 stars because the food is always good, no matter how busy it is. The price is right to feed a starving family. The location of this store is an oasis after driving down the mountain from either Tahoe or Apple Hill. It's the perfect stop to feed hungry children after a day of adventures. This location does get busy- it fills up with lots of skiers coming down the hill. But the folks working behind the counter have always been fast and friendly and served up a great product. So I'm sitting here for lunch. Normal stuff you would expect at an In-N-Out ( busy place, high quality fast food, fresh ingredients, simple menu, personable staff, clean restaurant) I'm sure that is in thousands of reviews already. What prompted me to write a review is what happened at the table next to me. A couple with 3 children is eating, and one of the kids accidentally knocks his tray to the ground, scattering his burger and fries all over over the floor. One of the in and out staff comes right over to clean up, is very nice about it, tells the kid not to worry and that it happens all the time. Really goes out if his way to make the kid feel better. So then this employee ( nametag says "Sam") orders and delivers a new burger and fries for the kid. So in closing, great job Sam. Excellent customer service! read more

The East Coast has White Castle, the Best Coast has In-n-Out! For those visiting California for the first time, this is a MUST visit fast food restaurant that's not so fast. Everything is made to order. Fries are fresh and so are all the other veggies. Chili peppers available upon request. I couldn't resist this post, since it didn't come up in my PDA/phone, during my recent jaunts to the Blue World of Tahoe. The first time I came to this location was on a Sunday night around 8:pm. It was so strange because there were only two people working. I was the only one there so it wasn't a problem but it was a blatant reminder that I was in a middle of a nowhere hick town that hates Palm Trees. The second visit; this place had been discovered! This time I counted 15 people working it on a Sunday night. This location is solid! Fries are fresh and hot! Bun is soft and not dried out. # The Placerville City Council voted 3-2 in 2006 to deny In-N-Out their trees because the city said it didn't match the landscaping plan.
