In-N-Out is always the best, always. This location is no exception. Now, that said, they did mess up my order just a little bit. I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions, and they did not put grilled onions in it. An In-N-Out burger without grilled onions is still great, but it's not spectacular. Grilled onions are a must. I muddled through. They must have put the grilled onions on my sons's burger, who requested no onions, because he said it was amazing, and when I checked, it had grilled onion on it. I said, "See! You love it because it has grilled onions on it!" This went to prove my hypothesis that grilled onions are better than no grilled onions. We ordered fries, cheese fries, milkshakes (strawberry and chocolate), and some soft drinks, and the whole thing was paradise, as In-N-Out is. Another great in n out location. Food is consistent and if you order via the drive thru the line will wrap around the block so make you check where the line is ending before trying to join the line. I requested fries well done and they fries tasted slightly burnt. Beyond well done that Post Malone would say congratulations instead. Wouldn't be surprised if the accidentally added salt and refried it to get rid of it. While I don't think In-N-Out is the end-all be-all of fast-casual burger spots, I like to stop into one whenever I'm in the Western US since there are none on the East coast. My brother was with me for this trip, and since he had never had InO before it all but confirmed that we would go here. We were in Hillcrest and finished exploring, and since this was the closest one we headed over. In my experience, InO is super popular, so it can be hot mess waiting in line at the drive-thru, looking for a spot, placing an order, and finding a seat - really anything. We got lucky though, as soon as we pulled into the parking lot I found a spot, and I was happy to find that it wasn't crowded inside - I didn't have to wait for a table nor in line to order; it was a total win. The interior looks like any typical InO. We went simple and ordered cheeseburgers with a side of fries; we got them Animal Style which is their (barely) secret menu item. Basically, if you order something Animal Style they will put extra toppings and flavors on the food. I think Animal Style is worth it, but if you're not into cheese or cooked onions or their spread I can see why you would opt out. The food was good - I think InO delivers solid fare but I personally prefer Sh*ke Sh*ck burgers; their fries, however, are really good. I visit this location fairly often, but it is inconsistent. At times, and this is infrequently, the burger is pretty good. At others, it's messy (too much sauce) or sloppily constructed in general. The fries are almost always lackluster and typically lack sufficient seasoning, if there's any present at all. They seem to do a better job during lunch than at dinner, even if it's particularly busy. While there's always a decent line, they move through it quickly enough and certainly fast enough for expectations at In-N-Out. Sadly, their change to pebble ice means that their strategy of staging drinks for drive-thru customers, something they've always done, leaves the drink extremely diluted by the time you get it. I used to recognize them as one of the places to get a really good Dr Pepper and now I can hardly recognize the flavor as more than a hint of sugary water. The shining example of what In-N-Out should be is the location in front of University of California at Irvine. Always a nightmare experience here. I've been sitting in the drive-thru for 20 minutes and there were only six cars ahead of me. The burgers are middling. I'm not sure why people think they're so fantastic. And the price is gone up dramatically in the past couple years so they're not even a good deal anymore. When you travel all the way from Ohio and can't wait to share the In n Out experience with your kids, it's a magical thing. BUT. The fries were awful. Just plain cardboard, hardly warm -- dare I say cold -- and it really killed the vibe. Our burgers were good (great IMO) but my son stated that he would take a Dave's Classic over an In n Out Burger 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
